Eternal Anima is not released yet, so there is no genuine first-hour review or player-review record to cite. Marvelous has announced the game as a new, turn-based JRPG for March 4, 2027. Its hook is a story about changing history across several eras, supported by two unusual systems: Psychometry, which turns memories in objects into inherited abilities and classes, and Future Sight, which lets players predict and disrupt enemy actions.
What Eternal Anima is
Marvelous describes Eternal Anima as a JRPG inspired by the genre’s golden era. The central premise links past and present: players travel through different eras, encounter ancestors and descendants, and work toward the goal of “save the past to free the present.” That structure makes history an active part of the adventure rather than simple background lore. Decisions and discoveries in one period are expected to matter in another, although the full scale of those consequences cannot be judged until a playable release build is available.
The game’s protagonist, Wade, has an ability called Psychometry. By reading memories embedded in physical objects, he can access the experiences of people from earlier generations. Those memories are not only narrative clues; they allow him to inherit abilities and classes from past heroes. In practical terms, exploration and party development are tied together: an object found during the journey may reveal part of the world’s history while also expanding the ways a character can fight.

Psychometry and character development
Psychometry could give ordinary adventure items a second purpose. Instead of treating objects as scenery or standard loot, the system asks players to consider whose memory an item contains and what that memory can teach the party. Marvelous has not yet published a complete list of classes, inheritance rules, or limits, so it is too early to say how freely builds can be changed or whether certain abilities are permanently missable.

How Future Sight changes turn-based combat
Eternal Anima’s other defining feature is Future Sight. Marvelous says the system allows players to predict what enemies will do, then issue countercommands that delay or cancel those actions. The intended result is a battle system based on timing and intervention rather than repeatedly selecting the strongest available attack.
A normal turn-based encounter might ask whether to attack, defend, heal, or use an ability. Future Sight adds another question: which incoming action is dangerous enough to interrupt, and is it better to cancel it immediately or delay it to create a more favorable sequence? That could make enemy patterns, turn order, and resource management central to each fight. Whether the system remains interesting in routine encounters, or instead slows down battles that should be quick, is one of the most important questions for a finished review.

What remains unknown about combat
- Marvelous has not stated how often Future Sight can be used or what resource governs it.
- The publisher has not detailed whether every enemy action is predictable, or whether some attacks can resist interruption.
- Party size, progression rules, difficulty options, and the relationship between inherited classes and Future Sight are not fully specified.
Release date and platforms
The announced worldwide launch date is March 4, 2027. Marvelous lists Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. Steam currently displays March 3, 2027, a one-day difference that may reflect regional store timing. For general release-date reporting, Marvelous’s March 4 date is the publisher’s stated date.

Marvelous USA says standard physical editions are planned for PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. The listed standard prices are $49.99 for PS5 and $59.99 for Switch 2. These are announced prices for those editions; retailer availability and preorder status can change before launch.

No complete limited-edition price, Xbox limited-edition plan, or guaranteed stock schedule has been established in the announcement information. Anyone searching for an “Eternal Anima PS5 physical edition” or “Eternal Anima Switch 2 limited edition” should check current retailer listings close to release, because preorder links and inventory are time-sensitive.

Is Eternal Anima released yet?
No. Steam says the game is not yet available and has no user reviews. That means claims about a completed first hour, final performance, story quality, or overall value would be premature. The reliable picture at this stage comes from Marvelous’s announcement and store information: a forthcoming JRPG with a multi-era story, memory-based progression, and predictive turn-based combat.

- Psychometry’s impact: Do object memories meaningfully change exploration and party building, or are they mostly optional lore collectibles?
- Future Sight’s pacing: Does predicting, delaying, and canceling actions create substantial tactical choices without making ordinary encounters laborious?
- Timeline structure: Are transitions between past and present easy to follow, and do changes to history produce satisfying consequences?
- Retro-modern presentation: How effectively do the visuals, music, and interface combine classic JRPG influence with modern production?
- Edition value: Do the soundtrack, art cards, and art book justify the limited-edition premium once final prices are known?
The Bottom Line
Eternal Anima is an unreleased Marvelous JRPG scheduled for March 4, 2027. Its promise rests on two systems—Psychometry’s inherited memories and Future Sight’s controllable enemy turns—but a real verdict must wait for the finished game.
