Eternal Anima is announced for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through Steam. Marvelous has set the worldwide launch for March 4, 2027. Steam lists Steam Cloud, but no official source confirms that a save can move between Switch 2, PlayStation, Xbox and PC. As of October 16, 2026, cross-platform saves and cross-progression are unannounced.
Which platforms will run Eternal Anima?
Marvelous describes Eternal Anima as a worldwide release for four platform ecosystems. The console versions are current-generation systems only: Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The computer version is listed for Windows PC through Steam. There is no announcement for the original Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or a PC storefront other than Steam.

When does Eternal Anima release?
The date to use for the game’s worldwide launch is March 4, 2027. Marvelous repeats that date on its official game information and in its September 9, 2026 launch announcement. The PlayStation Store’s 05:00 UTC time is a specific storefront listing for that date, not a separate regional launch announced by the publisher.

Why does Steam show March 3?
Steam currently displays March 3, 2027, one calendar day earlier than the publisher’s date. Storefronts can display a release according to a local time zone or a platform-specific release timestamp, so a time-zone or display difference is possible. Marvelous has not announced that explanation as a policy. Until the publisher or Steam supplies a definitive timing notice, treat March 4 as the canonical date and check the Steam page near launch for the time shown in your region.

Does Eternal Anima have cross-platform saves?
Cross-platform saves are not confirmed. As of October 16, 2026, the official materials reviewed do not announce cross-save, cross-progression, account linking, or a save-transfer tool between Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. That means you should not assume that a save made on one system can be continued on another.
This is different from saying that cross-save is impossible. Marvelous or a platform partner could publish support details later. The accurate status today is “unannounced,” not a definitive “no.” A future announcement would need to explain whether portability is automatic, tied to a game account, limited by platform family, or unavailable for physical and digital copies across different systems.
What the official listings do say
- Steam: the store page lists Steam Cloud. That confirms cloud synchronization within the Steam ecosystem, subject to Steam’s service and the game’s implementation.
- PlayStation: the listing says offline play is enabled and identifies the game as one-player. It does not state that PlayStation saves can be exported to Steam, Xbox or Switch 2.
- Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S: the announcements confirm the platforms but do not describe a shared-save service or account-linking system.
What Steam Cloud means—and what it does not mean
Steam Cloud normally synchronizes supported save files between computers using the same Steam account. For example, if the game writes its saves to Steam Cloud, you may be able to play on one Windows PC, install the game on another Windows PC signed in to that account, and download the synchronized files. The listing alone does not establish exactly which files are synchronized, how conflicts are handled, or whether synchronization is enabled for every save type.

Steam Cloud also does not create a bridge to console storage. A Steam Cloud save is not automatically a Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 or Xbox save, and buying the game on Steam does not by itself grant access to a console license. Unless Marvelous publishes a separate cross-progression service, plan on Steam Cloud as a PC-to-PC convenience rather than a universal transfer feature.
Practical PC precautions
- Use the same Steam account on each PC if you expect cloud synchronization.
- Allow Steam to finish syncing before closing the game or moving to another computer.
- Resolve any cloud-conflict prompt carefully; choosing the wrong copy can overwrite newer progress.
- Keep a local backup of important saves if you are changing computers, reinstalling Windows or troubleshooting a sync error.
Can you transfer a save from PS5 to Steam or Xbox?
There is currently no confirmed transfer path from PlayStation 5 to Steam or Xbox Series X|S. The same qualification applies in the opposite direction: an existing Steam or Xbox save should be treated as platform-specific unless Marvelous later documents a supported method. Do not purchase a second version expecting your progress to follow automatically.
What would be needed for a confirmed transfer system?
A formal cross-save feature generally requires more than matching game ownership. The publisher would need to identify a supported account or link process, explain which platforms participate, and describe how saves are uploaded and retrieved. It might also specify restrictions such as one linked account, a one-time migration, region limits, or separate treatment for downloadable content. None of those rules has been announced for Eternal Anima.

Offline play and save portability are separate questions
The PlayStation listing’s offline-play designation indicates that the game can be played without a continuous internet connection on that platform. It does not indicate that a save can be exported while offline or synchronized with another platform later. A game can support local saves and offline play while offering no cross-platform progression.
Physical and digital editions
Marvelous has announced physical editions for the three console platforms. The announcement gives euro prices and contents, but says digital-edition details and preorder dates will be shared later. Prices, stock and preorder availability can vary by country and retailer, so the figures below should not be treated as final local pricing.

The Limited Edition is not announced for Xbox Series X|S. Steam is listed as a PC digital release in the available announcements; no Steam physical package is described. The edition you buy does not change the current cross-save status: there is no confirmed mechanism that would merge a console save with a Steam save.

Which version should you choose if you move between systems?
Choose the platform where you expect to finish the game
Because cross-platform progression is unconfirmed, the safest purchase is the version on the system you will use for most of the playthrough. If you regularly alternate between a handheld and a console, assume that you may need to keep the entire playthrough on one platform. This avoids basing a purchase on a feature that has not been promised.
Choose Steam for PC-to-PC flexibility
Steam Cloud gives the PC version a documented synchronization feature inside Steam. It is useful when you play on multiple Windows computers under one Steam account, but it should not be interpreted as cross-save with consoles.
Choose a physical console edition for the announced extras
The €79.99 Limited Edition is the only announced package with the soundtrack, character cards and art book, and it is restricted to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The €49.99 Standard Edition is the announced physical option for all three consoles. Digital versions may receive different pricing or preorder benefits once Marvelous publishes those details.
How to check for a later cross-save announcement
- Check Marvelous’ official Eternal Anima game page and launch-news updates for explicit terms such as “cross-save,” “cross-progression,” “account linking” or “save transfer.”
- Read the updated Steam, PlayStation and Xbox store descriptions rather than relying on a retailer title or search snippet.
- Look for a step-by-step linking process and a list of participating platforms. A statement that the game has cloud saves is not enough to establish console-to-PC portability.
- Before starting on a second platform, make a manual backup where the platform allows it and confirm that the publisher’s instructions identify the account containing your original progress.
Until those details appear, regard each platform as its own save environment. Steam Cloud can protect and synchronize supported PC saves, while the available information does not establish a route between Steam and any console.
