Epic Seven’s published Steam requirements are modest by current gaming-PC standards: Windows 10 64-bit or newer, an Intel i5-class processor, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060-class graphics card, DirectX 11 and 10 GB of free storage for the minimum tier. Smilegate’s recommended tier raises the processor to Intel i7, memory to 16 GB and graphics to GTX 1660, while keeping the same operating-system, DirectX and storage requirements.
Steam listed October 29, 2026 as the planned release date and showed the game as unavailable at the time of the latest status check (October 13, 2026). Verify the store page before installing. Official documentation confirms the hardware tiers but does not publish a list of graphics controls, frame-rate limits or benchmark results, so no official “best settings” preset or guaranteed frame rate exists.
Is Epic Seven available on Steam?
Steam describes Epic Seven as a free-to-play role-playing game developed by Smilegate and published by Smilegate and Smilegate STOVE. The listing gave October 29, 2026 as the planned release date. On October 13, 2026, it still indicated that the game was not available, so treat that date as a plan rather than proof that the build is downloadable now.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The Steam listing also says that a STOVE third-party account is required and that Steam account linking is supported. Linking a Steam account does not remove the STOVE-account requirement. Steam identifies the anti-cheat component as UNCHEATER and describes it as kernel-level anti-cheat. If you are checking compatibility for a managed, work or school computer, confirm that its security policy permits the required client and anti-cheat software.

Official minimum and recommended PC specifications
Steam and Smilegate STOVE’s official PC-client guide show the same requirement tiers. “Or higher” means hardware above the named class can qualify; it does not mean that every similarly named processor or graphics card will perform identically.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit or higher | Windows 10 64-bit or higher |
| Processor | Intel i5 or higher | Intel i7 or higher |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 1060 or higher | GeForce GTX 1660 or higher |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
| Available storage | 10 GB | 10 GB |
These figures are publisher specifications, not a performance test. Meeting minimum means that your configuration matches the published floor; it does not promise a particular resolution, frame rate, loading time or absence of stutter. The recommended tier is Smilegate’s general target for a smooth experience, not a benchmark guarantee.
How to interpret the processor requirement
The listing uses broad “Intel i5” and “Intel i7” labels rather than a specific generation or model number. A newer i5 can be faster than an older i7, and laptop chips can behave differently from desktop parts with the same family name. Check the full model shown by Windows instead of relying only on the i5 or i7 badge.
How to interpret the graphics requirement
“GTX 1060 or higher” and “GTX 1660 or higher” identify a performance class, not a requirement to purchase one of those exact cards. Integrated graphics, mobile GPUs and cards from another vendor are not directly confirmed by the published table. If your GPU is not one of the named models, compare its real performance class cautiously and use the minimum tier only as a floor.
Check your PC before downloading

- Check Windows edition and architecture. Open Settings > System > About. Under Windows specifications, note the edition and version. Under Device specifications, check whether the system type is 64-bit. The requirement is Windows 10 64-bit or higher; a 32-bit installation does not match it.
- Check the processor and memory. In Settings > System > About, record the processor model and installed RAM. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, open Task Manager > Performance, and select CPU or Memory for the model and usable amount.
- Check the graphics adapter. In Task Manager, choose Performance > GPU. For a second check, press Win+R, enter
dxdiag, select the Display tab and record the adapter name and driver details. A computer with more than one GPU may show both integrated and discrete adapters. - Check DirectX. In
dxdiag, read the System tab. The official requirement is DirectX 11. Windows may report a newer DirectX version while a game still uses a DirectX 11 feature level; keep Windows and graphics drivers updated. - Check free space on the destination drive. Open File Explorer > This PC and inspect the drive where the client will be installed. The stated requirement is 10 GB available. Leave additional headroom for updates, temporary installation files and Windows itself rather than filling the drive to exactly 10 GB.
Write down the results and compare each row independently. Passing four rows does not compensate for failing a required row: an 8 GB system with a qualifying GPU still does not meet the stated memory recommendation of 16 GB, and a 64-bit operating system does not make an under-class graphics adapter equivalent to a GTX 1060.
Install through the official PC client
Smilegate’s installation guide directs players to the STOVE PC Client. The general sequence is:
Recommended Free Tools
- Download and install the STOVE PC Client from Smilegate’s official distribution channel.
- Open the client and sign in or create the required STOVE account.
- Select Install Game.
- Accept the end-user license agreement when prompted.
- After installation completes, launch Epic Seven from the client.
Steam’s listing adds Steam account-linking support, but it still identifies a STOVE third-party account as required. Keep the credentials for both services available and read the account-linking prompt carefully; do not assume that installing through Steam substitutes for the STOVE login.
What official guidance says about performance settings
The official pages reviewed do not enumerate in-game graphics options, supported resolutions, a frame-rate cap, benchmark results or tested hardware examples. Consequently, there is no documented Smilegate preset such as “high at 60 fps” that can be promised for every PC.
“Recommended Specifications: A setup that ensures a smooth gaming experience, but performance may vary depending on internet connection, OS, or computer maintenance status.”

- Turn on the Bright Lights: With the built-in RGB lighting, take your gaming experience to the next level by pressing the MSI LED button to cycle through lighting options. Customize lighting even further with MSI Center software.
This qualification matters because a computer can meet the recommended table and still experience interruptions caused by an overloaded system, outdated drivers, maintenance problems or an unstable connection. It also means that a lower-spec machine might appear playable in some circumstances without officially meeting the requirement.
A cautious settings workflow when the game is installed
The steps below are general PC troubleshooting guidance, not a Smilegate-published preset or a result from hands-on testing. Menu names can change between builds. Use only controls that actually appear in your version.
Start with a stable baseline
- Update Windows and install the current driver offered for your graphics adapter.
- Restart the PC before the first test so pending updates and background installers are not competing with the game.
- Close browsers with many tabs, recording tools, launchers and overlays that you do not need.
- Run the game at your monitor’s native resolution first. Record whether the issue is low frame rate, hitching, long loading or network delay; each symptom has a different cause.
If a graphics menu is available
Keep resolution at native while testing image quality. If frame pacing is poor, lower the most expensive-looking options first—typically shadows, effects, post-processing or view distance—then retest one change at a time. Use a frame-rate limit or vertical synchronization only if the build provides it and your display benefits from that choice. Avoid changing several settings simultaneously, because you will not know which change helped.
When memory or background load is the problem
An 8 GB system has less room for Windows, the client and other applications than a 16 GB system. Before lowering visual quality, check Task Manager > Processes and close unnecessary programs. Do not terminate Windows or security processes merely to free memory. If the game stutters after long sessions, watch memory and disk activity rather than assuming the GPU is at fault.
When the connection is the problem
Online responsiveness is not the same as graphics performance. Test with a wired connection where practical, pause large downloads and avoid judging visual settings by lag or delayed actions. The official caveat explicitly says that internet connection can affect the experience.

When maintenance is the problem
Keep reasonable free space on the installation drive, allow the client to complete updates, and reboot after major driver or Windows changes. A nearly full drive, pending update or damaged installation can cause behavior that a graphics preset cannot fix.

| Symptom | Checks to make first | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| The client will not install | Confirm Windows is 64-bit, the destination has more than the stated 10 GB, and the account can install software. | Free space, run the client with the required permissions, then retry. Check whether the planned Steam release has actually opened. |
| The game starts but performance is uneven | Compare CPU, GPU and RAM with the minimum table; inspect Task Manager for competing processes. | Apply the baseline workflow, then reduce available effects or shadows one setting at a time if those controls exist. |
| Actions feel delayed while the picture is smooth | Check connection quality, downloads and other network use. | Test a more stable connection. Do not treat network delay as proof that the graphics card is too slow. |
| Crashes or display errors occur | Check graphics-driver status, DirectX information in dxdiag, Windows updates and whether the correct GPU is being used. |
Restart after updates and verify the installation through the client if that option is available. |
| Steam launches but asks for another account | Review the listing’s STOVE-account requirement and the account-linking prompt. | Sign in to or create the required STOVE account; linking Steam does not replace it. |
Should you upgrade to the recommended tier?
Use the recommended row as a planning target rather than an automatic shopping list. If your computer already has Windows 10 64-bit or newer, an Intel i7-class processor, 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1660-class or better GPU, DirectX 11 and at least 10 GB free, it matches the publisher’s recommended specification on paper. If it falls between the tiers, identify the missing component first and decide whether your actual symptom justifies an upgrade.
The published requirements do not establish a tested winner among particular CPUs or GPUs, do not specify laptop equivalents and do not justify buying a new graphics card solely because the listing names a GTX model. Check the game’s live store page and client notes after release for any revised requirements or settings documentation.
Bottom line for a Steam PC player
Plan around the minimum table of Windows 10 64-bit, Intel i5, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1060, DirectX 11 and 10 GB free; use Intel i7, 16 GB RAM and GTX 1660 as the smoother-play target. Confirm the Steam release status because October 29, 2026 was listed as planned, not completed at the last check. Install through the STOVE PC Client, expect a STOVE account even when Steam is linked, and treat any graphics tuning as provisional until the released build documents its controls. Official specifications define compatibility tiers, not a guaranteed frame rate.
