A report says ENS is seeking DAO approval to activate ENSv2, but the primary proposal and its voting status could not be confirmed in the available official records. That means claims about stopping new ENSv1 registrations, migration deadlines, and governance control should be treated as unverified—not as settled policy.
What is ENSv2?
ENS, the Ethereum Name Service, is a naming system for Ethereum. ENSv2 is described in the report as an upgraded version, but the official materials located for this story do not establish its architecture, migration mechanics, activation sequence, or security model. The available evidence therefore does not support a detailed technical account of what changes in ENSv2.
The report’s headline was “ENSv2 Activation Proposal Would Halt New ENSv1 Registrations.” Its summary says existing .eth holders would have no migration deadline and that ENS Labs would transfer its remaining ENSv2 administrative roles to the DAO. Those are claims in a secondary aggregator summary, not confirmed terms from official proposal text. Crypto Pulse report
Has the ENS DAO approved the upgrade?
Approval is not established. The ENS Agora listing confirms that the DAO uses a public governance proposal venue, but the result located for this story did not identify the reported ENSv2 activation proposal. The available sources do not confirm its author, publication date, voting stage, result, or an activation date. ENS Agora

Do not confuse the reported activation proposal with EP 5.27. That official ENS documentation concerns removing the DAO’s ability to upgrade the Name Wrapper after a vulnerability was identified; it is a different governance matter and does not establish ENSv2’s status. ENS documentation on EP 5.27
What the reported proposal could mean for .eth holders
If the aggregator’s summary accurately reflects the proposal, the changes under consideration would concern new registrations, existing names, and administrative authority. Until official proposal text or an ENS statement confirms them, .eth holders should not treat any of these points as final:

Do you need to migrate your .eth name now?
No migration requirement or deadline is confirmed by the official material located for this story. The aggregator summary’s no-deadline claim is not a substitute for the actual proposal or an official ENS announcement. Before taking action, look for the relevant proposal in ENS’s governance venue and confirm its current status and instructions through ENS’s official channels.
ENS support documentation identifies app.ens.domains as the official app for registering or managing an ENS name. That is routine service guidance; it does not show that ENSv2 activation is approved or underway. ENS support documentation

What to verify before treating activation as a decision
A reliable account of this governance story needs the matching official proposal and its current record. The decisive details are its publication date and author, whether voting is scheduled or underway, the vote result, any activation date, and the exact rules for registrations, existing names, and control of administrative roles. None of those proposal-specific details is established by the sources available here.
