For most UK groups, GTX Gaming’s London Enshrouded service is the clearest starting point in 2026: it publishes a complete 4–16-player price ladder, advertises daily backups, DDoS protection and 24/7 support, and places the server in London. GPORTAL is the provider Keen Games officially names for in-game dedicated-server rentals. Nodecraft and Survival Servers list European coverage, but you must confirm a UK or nearby location, current price and terms at checkout.

Renting a dedicated server is worthwhile when your Enshrouded world must remain available while the usual host is offline. Keen Games says Enshrouded supports solo play or groups of up to 16, and a dedicated server keeps the world running independently of one player’s PC.

What an Enshrouded server rental actually provides

Enshrouded is a cooperative survival-crafting action RPG. In a normal peer-hosted session, one player’s computer acts as the host, so that computer needs to be running whenever friends want to enter the world. A rented dedicated server moves that hosting job to a managed datacentre instance that stays online according to the provider’s service and restart policies.

The distinction matters for a group with different schedules. Players can join the same world without waiting for the original host to launch the game, and the host’s home upload connection and hardware no longer determine whether the world is available. You still need to manage access, updates and backups, but you are not required to leave a gaming PC running.

Where the game data lives

GTX Gaming’s Enshrouded guidance distinguishes between characters and the shared world. Character data remains on each player’s PC, while world saves can be uploaded to the rented instance through a file manager or SFTP. This means a server move is not simply a matter of copying one universal profile: identify the world-save files, keep an untouched local copy, and verify every player’s character data before changing hosts.

Why a UK or nearby region helps

A London location normally gives UK players a shorter network path than a distant continent, reducing the chance that latency or packet loss makes combat and building feel delayed. Geography is not the only performance variable: the provider’s CPU allocation, node contention, network route and restart behavior also matter. No authoritative, directly comparable CPU specifications were established across the providers considered here, so a large RAM number alone is not a reliable ranking method.

UK and European rental options compared

The table separates documented facts from items that still require a checkout check. Prices, promotions, stock and feature wording can change, so treat an advertised plan as a starting quote rather than a guaranteed total.

GTX Gaming’s published London price ladder

GTX Gaming publishes the most complete UK-specific benchmark in the available 2026 information. These are monthly list prices for the stated slot counts, not an independent price survey or a guarantee that taxes, add-ons or longer billing periods will be identical at checkout.

Maximum simultaneous players (slots) Published monthly price Approximate list price per slot
4 £4.32 £1.08
6 £6.00 £1.00
8 £7.60 £0.95
10 £9.20 £0.92
12 £10.56 £0.88
14 £11.90 £0.85
16 £13.12 £0.82

The per-slot figures are simple divisions of the published monthly prices; they do not measure performance or value per player. Every listed GTX plan is described as including up to 5GB of RAM, up to 100GB of NVMe storage, daily backups, DDoS protection and 24/7 support. If your group will never approach the cap, paying for unused slots offers little practical benefit; if your group occasionally reaches the limit, a slightly larger plan avoids kicking players during a session.

How many slots and how much resource do you need?

Choose by simultaneous players, not total invitations

Slot count is the number of players who can be connected at once, not the number of people in your community. Start with the largest party likely to play during a normal evening and add a small margin for guests. For example, a regular six-person group that sometimes invites two more players should compare an eight-slot plan rather than buying a four-slot plan and hoping everyone can rotate in.

  • Four to six slots: appropriate for a small, predictable party and the lowest-cost way to keep a world online.
  • Eight to ten slots: a practical middle range for a friend group with occasional guests.
  • Twelve to sixteen slots: suited to a larger community or events where the full Keen Games limit may be approached.

Understand what “up to 5GB RAM” does and does not say

RAM capacity helps a server hold its running processes and world state, but it does not reveal CPU share, processor generation, storage performance under load or how many other instances share the physical node. Ask whether CPU resources are dedicated, fairly scheduled or simply described as a plan maximum. Because comparable CPU data was not established for the providers in this comparison, use actual region, player capacity, administrative tools and support quality alongside memory figures.

Plan for growth without overbuying

Enshrouded’s official maximum is 16 players. A server advertised above that number would not automatically make the game support more simultaneous players; confirm the game’s own limit and the provider’s slot definition. It is usually easier to start with a modest plan and upgrade than to pay indefinitely for capacity your group does not use, provided the host allows plan changes without forcing a world migration.

A decision checklist for comparing providers

Use the following checks in this order. They prevent a cheap headline price from hiding a poor fit for a UK group.

  1. Confirm the physical region. Look for London or a nearby European city, not merely a “Europe” label. Ask support for the actual location if the checkout page does not show it.
  2. Match slots to peak concurrency. Count players who will connect at the same time and check whether slots can be changed later.
  3. Read the resource description. Record RAM, CPU allocation, storage type and any fair-use or node-sharing language. Do not compare RAM alone.
  4. Check backups and restoration. Verify whether backups run automatically, how many copies are retained, where restore controls appear and whether restoring overwrites the current world.
  5. Check save access. A file manager or SFTP connection makes it possible to download a world, upload a replacement and migrate between hosts. Confirm that access is included rather than a paid add-on.
  6. Review administration controls. Look for passwords, player roles, allow/block lists, scheduled restarts, console access and update controls.
  7. Examine support and availability. Note support hours, response channels and whether 24/7 assistance is actually included in the plan.
  8. Read billing and cancellation terms. Confirm renewal frequency, currency, taxes, refund window, cancellation timing and what happens to files after cancellation.
  9. Check update policy. Ask how quickly the provider deploys Enshrouded updates and what happens if a game patch makes an existing save incompatible.

How to rent and configure a server

1. Establish the group’s requirements

Write down the maximum simultaneous players, preferred play schedule, whether the world already exists, and who should have administrative access. Decide whether the server must be in London specifically or whether a nearby European region is acceptable.

2. Compare the provider’s checkout details

Select the slot count and region, then record the final recurring total, setup charge if any, renewal interval and cancellation method. The GTX figures above are published monthly list prices; the amount shown at checkout is the one that governs your purchase.

3. Provision the instance and secure access

After activation, set a strong server password, assign administrative roles only to trusted players and avoid sharing the control-panel login. If the panel offers separate player roles, use them instead of giving every regular player full permissions.

4. Upload an existing world safely

  1. Stop the server before changing world files so no save is being written during the transfer.
  2. Download and preserve an untouched copy of the existing world from the original host.
  3. Use the provider’s file manager or SFTP to upload the world to the documented save location.
  4. Start the server and confirm that the expected world name, buildings and progression appear.
  5. Ask each player to join and verify their character inventory and progression, because character data remains on individual PCs according to GTX’s guidance.

Do not delete the original local copy until several players have connected successfully and you have made a fresh server backup.

5. Configure backups and restart behavior

Enable the shortest practical automatic-backup interval offered by the panel and identify the restore command before an emergency occurs. GTX describes daily automatic backups and restoration controls. If your provider offers scheduled restarts, place them outside your group’s normal play window and tell players when they will occur.

6. Test an offline-host session

Close the original host’s game completely. Have another player connect using the server address or in-game listing, build or alter something minor, disconnect, and reconnect. This confirms that the rented instance—not the original PC—is saving and serving the world.

7. Document the recovery path

Store the server address, panel URL, support contact, backup location and administrator list in a private group document. Record the date of the last known-good backup and the exact steps for stopping, restoring and restarting the instance.

Do you need a dedicated server?

A rented server is the better fit when

  • Players need to enter the world at different times.
  • The usual host cannot leave a PC and internet connection running.
  • You want provider-managed backups, DDoS protection or support.
  • The group values a stable datacentre connection over using one player’s home hardware.
  • You want a neutral owner for a shared world rather than tying access to one person’s availability.

Peer hosting may be enough when

  • The same person is present for nearly every session.
  • The group is small and does not need an always-on world.
  • You are comfortable managing local save copies and accepting that the host’s PC and connection determine availability.
  • A recurring monthly charge is not justified by your play schedule.

A dedicated rental does not remove every responsibility. Someone still needs to approve updates, manage passwords, monitor backups and decide who receives administrative rights.

Preparing for the Steam 1.0 release

Keen Games announced Steam 1.0 for 15 October 2026. That date makes compatibility a purchase requirement, not a footnote. Before paying for a long billing period, ask how the provider handles the 1.0 update, whether updates can be delayed while you back up, and how support responds if a patch changes server requirements.

  • Make a manual world backup immediately before the update.
  • Confirm that the provider will deploy the server build compatible with the client build your players use.
  • Decide who tests the updated world first and how you will roll back if a save behaves unexpectedly.
  • Recheck slot limits, pricing and renewal terms after launch; promotional or pre-1.0 pricing may not continue.

Compatibility claims should be dated. A provider that supports Enshrouded today may still need a deployment window when 1.0 ships.

Troubleshooting common rental problems

Friends cannot connect while the server appears online

  • Confirm that everyone is running the same game version as the server.
  • Check the password, allow-list and player-role settings.
  • Verify the displayed region and server address; a changed address after a plan move can invalidate old bookmarks.
  • Ask support whether the instance is still starting, updating or rate-limited rather than fully ready.

The world appears to have rolled back

Stop making further changes, note the time of the incident, and inspect the backup timestamps before restoring anything. Compare the latest automatic backup with the current save and download both copies if the panel permits. Restoring an older copy can remove valid recent progress, so preserve the current files first.

The server feels laggy with a modest player count

Record when the lag occurs, how many players are connected and whether it coincides with a scheduled backup or restart. Test from more than one UK connection to separate local network problems from server-side issues. Ask the provider about CPU contention, node incidents and the actual datacentre location; increasing RAM may not resolve a CPU or network bottleneck.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

An update prevents the world from starting

Do not repeatedly restart while overwriting logs or saves. Capture the server version, client version and console error, then contact the provider. If a pre-update backup exists, restore it only after confirming whether the provider has a compatible server build or rollback procedure.

Security and continuity practices

  • Use a unique control-panel password and enable multi-factor authentication if offered.
  • Give administrative rights to the smallest possible group.
  • Keep an offline copy of important world saves in addition to provider backups.
  • Change the server password when an administrator leaves the group.
  • Test a restore periodically; a backup that has never been restored is an assumption, not a verified recovery plan.
  • Read data-retention terms so you know how long files remain after cancellation or non-payment.

Bottom line for UK buyers in 2026

Choose a London or nearby-European managed server sized to your peak simultaneous players. GTX Gaming has the strongest UK-specific evidence because it publishes London hosting, a complete 4–16-slot price ladder and a concrete set of included management features. GPORTAL is the officially named Keen Games partner for in-game rentals, while Nodecraft and Survival Servers are alternatives to investigate after confirming their current UK-region inventory and terms. Whichever provider you choose, preserve your world locally, verify backup restoration, and confirm Steam 1.0 compatibility before committing to a long renewal period.
