Ender’s Journey: Beyond The End runs on Minecraft 1.19.2 with Forge. A reliable server requires every player to install the same pack release and loader, while the server uses that release’s matching server-pack files when available. The progression is gated by Ender Eyes: eight open the Nether, 16 open The End, and all 24 open The Ethereal Abyss.
This guide covers version matching, self-hosted installation, managed hosting, progression testing, updates, backups, and the failure modes that most often prevent players from joining or advancing.
What Ender’s Journey: Beyond The End is
Ender’s Journey: Beyond The End is an exploration-and-combat modpack owned by ArcaneAlloy. Its central objective is to find 24 Ender Eyes and defeat the threat associated with the pack’s final progression. The project presents itself as a modest, RPG-style adventure rather than a technical automation pack. A Hero role, new mechanics, structured exploration and gated dimensions shape the experience.

The “Map Based” and “Hardcore” labels are useful expectations, not a promise that every server configuration will enforce the same difficulty. The server owner should check the selected release’s included configuration and map files before changing difficulty, game rules or world-generation settings.

Which Minecraft and Forge version does the pack use?
The supported target identified by the project listing is Minecraft 1.19.2 on Forge. Do not combine a 1.19.2 client with a different Minecraft version, a Fabric loader, or an unrelated Forge build and expect the pack to work. The loader, manifest, overrides and world data are part of one release combination.
Release matching is more important than the newest file
CurseForge release pages show ongoing 1.19.2 Forge development. A BETA 0.3.9 release was uploaded on August 27, 2026. The archive also lists server-pack entries, including an earlier file named “Beyond The End – BETA 0.3.4 Serverpack.zip.” These are release-specific assets. A server running one beta should not be populated with a server-pack, client profile or configuration copied from another beta.

What the mod count does—and does not—tell you
A third-party setup index lists BETA 0.4.6 with Forge 43.5.2 and 327 referenced mods. That count describes the index entry; it is not a memory requirement, a CPU recommendation or a guarantee that every referenced file is loaded in every server configuration. No dependable RAM or CPU number is established for a particular player count and release, so size the server from observed usage and the host’s monitoring rather than from the number 327.
How the 8-, 16- and 24-Eye progression works
The pack’s progression is intentionally staged. Players begin in an unlocked Overworld and gather Ender Eyes while completing the exploration and combat content available at that stage.

- Eight Eyes: collecting eight Ender Eyes opens the Nether portal.
- Sixteen Eyes: collecting 16 opens access to The End.
- Twenty-four Eyes: after all 24 have been collected, players can use the final room’s pillars to open the portal to The Ethereal Abyss.
ArcaneAlloy describes the final interaction this way: “In this room, you can place the Eyes you have collected onto different pillars. Once all of them (24 Eyes), the portal to The Ethereal Abyss will open.” The wording implies that the final gate is an interaction with the pillars, not merely an inventory check performed anywhere in the world.
Practical coordination for a multiplayer group
- Keep a shared record of which Eyes have been secured and who is carrying them.
- Store recovered Eyes in a known, protected location before a dangerous expedition.
- Do not assume that one player’s personal inventory automatically satisfies a server-wide gate; test the pack’s actual behavior on a copy of the world.
- Before entering a newly opened dimension, make a backup and confirm that every player’s client uses the same release.
Prepare the server before installing anything
Choose one exact Beyond The End release first. Write down its Minecraft version, Forge version, pack version and the name of the server-pack file. This prevents the common mistake of downloading the latest client profile while selecting an older server archive.
Preparation checklist
- Decide whether you will self-host or use a managed Minecraft host.
- Select one release, such as the beta you intend to run, and keep all players on that same release.
- Download the release’s server-pack when one is listed. Do not assume an ordinary client installation is a valid server installation.
- Make a separate backup location for the world, configuration files and server-pack archive.
- Plan a test world or a copied production world for checking portals and progression gates.
- Confirm that the host or computer can run Minecraft 1.19.2 with Forge and that its panel or operating system allows the required Java runtime for that Forge build.
The last item is deliberately phrased as a verification step: the correct Java runtime depends on the loader and host environment. Use the runtime guidance supplied by the Forge installer or hosting panel instead of assuming that a runtime from another Minecraft version is suitable.
Self-hosted installation: a safe sequence
The following workflow keeps the client, server and world aligned. Menu names differ between launchers and control panels, but the order is the same.

- Select the release. Record the exact Beyond The End version and its Minecraft 1.19.2 Forge requirement. Treat that combination as the server’s baseline.
- Install the client pack for every player. Each player should install the same release through the launcher or pack distribution method used by the project. Check the displayed Minecraft and Forge versions before launching.
- Obtain the matching server-pack. If the release archive provides a server-pack, download that file rather than uploading a player’s entire client directory. The earlier BETA 0.3.4 archive demonstrates that server-pack files are published for specific releases.
- Install Forge for the server. Use the Forge build required by the selected pack. For the BETA 0.4.6 index entry, that build is listed as Forge 43.5.2; it should not be substituted for the Forge build required by another beta.
- Extract the server-pack into a clean server directory. Keep the archive untouched until you have a backup copy. Follow the archive’s included layout so that mods, configuration, scripts and overrides land in the directories expected by the pack.
- Complete the first server launch. Start the Forge server using the launch files supplied by the installer or server-pack, review the log for missing files, and complete the normal Minecraft EULA acceptance process before allowing players to connect.
- Set ordinary server options. Configure the world name, operator permissions, difficulty and other values only after the pack starts cleanly. Avoid changing world-generation or map files on the first launch; those files may be part of the intended progression.
- Join with one test client. Use a client on the exact same pack release. Confirm that the player can enter the Overworld, open inventories and interact with the pack’s mechanics before inviting the entire group.
- Test progression on a copy. On a copied world, verify the Nether gate at eight Eyes, The End gate at 16 and the final pillar interaction at 24. This is an operational safeguard, not a claim that every release has been independently tested here.
- Back up before going live. Stop the server cleanly, copy the world and configuration directories, and label the backup with the pack version and date.
Why uploading a client folder is risky
A client folder can contain files that are unnecessary or inappropriate for a dedicated server. It can also hide which files came from which release. A release-specific server-pack gives you a known starting point and makes future troubleshooting easier. If no server-pack is listed for your chosen release, follow the project and Forge installation instructions for that release rather than silently mixing files from an older archive.
Managed hosting options and what to verify
VeryGames advertises an Ender’s Journey: Beyond The End hosting preset and describes installation, creation and updating through its control panel. BoxToPlay also presents the pack as an installable hosted Minecraft server. Availability, supported beta, pricing and panel features can change, so treat those listings as starting points and confirm the details during checkout or setup.

Typical panel workflow
- Open the host’s Minecraft server creation page and search for the exact pack name.
- Check the listed Minecraft, Forge and Beyond The End release before clicking install.
- Choose the server location and player capacity based on your group, not the mod count alone.
- Let the panel install the preset or upload the matching server-pack if the panel requires a manual upload.
- Start the server once, read the console for missing-mod or version errors, then stop it before importing an existing world.
- Upload or restore the world only after confirming that the pack starts on a clean test world.
- Enable scheduled backups and document the restore procedure before sharing the address.
- When updating, create a manual backup, select the new release, replace the server-pack as instructed by the host, and test the copied world before switching production.

Updating the pack without losing progression
Beta releases can change configuration, mods and progression behavior. Treat an update as a migration rather than as a routine file replacement.

- Announce a maintenance window and stop the server normally.
- Make a complete backup of the world, player data, configuration, scripts and current server-pack archive.
- Record the old release and Forge version so that you can roll back.
- Install the new client release for a small test group first.
- Install the new release’s matching server-pack and Forge build in a separate test directory or host instance.
- Copy the backup world into the test instance; never make the first launch of a new beta on your only production copy.
- Check that players can join, that the Eye count is preserved and that each dimension gate behaves as expected.
- Review the server log for missing mods, registry errors or configuration migrations.
- Only after the test succeeds, schedule the production update and retain the previous backup until the group has played successfully.
Troubleshooting common failures
A player receives a mod-list or handshake error
Confirm the player’s Minecraft version, Forge version and Beyond The End release. Compare the installed pack with the server’s release and server-pack rather than adding random mods until the error disappears. A single extra, missing or different-version mod can prevent a connection.
The server stops during startup
Read the first meaningful error in the console, not only the final shutdown line. Check that Forge matches the selected Minecraft version, that the server-pack was extracted into the intended directory and that files from another beta were not copied over it. Restore the clean server directory if you cannot identify which file changed.

Check the progression threshold: eight Eyes are required for the Nether, 16 for The End and all 24 for The Ethereal Abyss. Verify that the Eyes were collected by the mechanism expected by that release and that the final 24-Eye interaction was performed on the pillars in the designated room. Test on a copy before altering a live world.
The final portal does not open after 24 Eyes
Return to the final room and place the collected Eyes on the pillars as described by the project owner. If the portal still does not appear, confirm that the server and clients use the same release, restore a pre-change backup on a test instance and inspect the log for progression or data errors. Do not delete player or world data as a first response.

Players report lag or crashes
Do not infer a memory allocation from the 327-mod reference. Check the host’s CPU, memory and tick-time graphs while reproducing the problem, reduce simultaneous exploration during diagnosis, and test the exact release with the actual number of players. If a host cannot provide resource visibility, ask what resources are dedicated to the plan and how overages are handled.
An update broke the existing world
Stop the updated server, preserve its logs, and restore the pre-update backup to a separate instance. Confirm the old pack and Forge versions, then decide whether to roll back permanently or migrate after identifying the changed file. Never overwrite the only backup with a failed migration.

Neither route removes the need for release matching. A managed preset can be outdated, and a self-hosted installation can still fail if a client uses a different beta. The decisive check is always the same: Minecraft 1.19.2, the required Forge build, the identical Beyond The End release and the corresponding server-pack.
