Boot Enclave is not an agent framework in the sense of software that defines an agent’s reasoning, tools, or workflow. Its documented role is to launch and manage isolated, credential-scoped, temporary sessions for workloads generated by agents. The two categories address different layers and may complement one another, but compatibility depends on the specific framework and on which product called “Enclave” you mean.
What does Boot Enclave do?
Boot Enclave describes itself as “a control plane for running untrusted, agent-generated workloads inside isolated, credential-scoped, ephemeral sessions.” In practical terms, it provides infrastructure for managing where generated code runs and how that workload is contained; it does not, on the evidence available, define the agent’s reasoning or workflow. Boot Enclave’s architecture documentation describes a control plane and orchestrator, a pluggable SessionBackend, an identity authority, an SDK, an MCP server, a console, and a runner. The SDK, MCP server, and user interface are described as clients of its REST API.
How is that different from an agent framework?
The useful distinction is responsibility, not a contest over which product is “better.” An agent framework ordinarily helps developers construct agent behavior and workflow. Boot Enclave’s documented job is to provide and manage an isolated execution boundary for agent-generated workloads. A system can use both kinds of component if it is configured to do so, but the cited architecture documentation does not establish compatibility with any named framework.

The framework cells are intentionally general: the available sources do not identify the frameworks in the referenced audit, so they do not support framework-specific features or compatibility claims.

Which execution paths does Boot Enclave document?
Boot Enclave’s architecture page describes a pluggable backend interface with simulator, Docker, Kubernetes/gVisor, and Firecracker paths. These are documented architecture options, not an independent assessment of production readiness, performance, or isolation strength for a particular deployment.
How does Boot Enclave describe credential and network boundaries?
According to its architecture documentation, brokered secrets are not injected into the workload; service-binding secrets enter at the egress-proxy boundary; and private-repository credentials are mounted only on a clone init-container. The same page says authentication, role-based access control, and organization-scoped tenancy are enforced on server routes, and egress is default-deny on every backend. These are vendor documentation claims, not independently tested security results.

These boundaries matter because containment is not just a matter of choosing a runtime. Readers evaluating a deployment should establish which identities can launch or manage sessions, how a workload receives any needed credentials, and which destinations it can reach. NIST SP 800-207 offers useful vocabulary: it describes zero trust as focused on resource protection and continual evaluation, and distinguishes control-plane activity from data-plane application communication. Which “Enclave” do you mean?
Enclave is an ambiguous name. Boot Enclave is the product whose documentation describes isolated execution sessions. Enclave Networks documents a separate network-access product: its guide covers network identity and policy-governed access to private systems for coding agents, desktop assistants using MCP, local models, unattended automation, and vendor-hosted agents. Can you use Boot Enclave with an agent framework?
Architecturally, an execution-containment service and an agent framework can serve complementary roles: one defines or coordinates agent behavior, while the other supplies a managed execution boundary. Whether a particular framework can call Boot Enclave, pass work to it, or use its SDK or MCP server depends on that framework’s integration options and the deployment. The cited documentation establishes Boot Enclave’s interfaces, but not a verified integration with any named framework.
