To run compatible RAM at its rated profile settings on an ASUS Prime motherboard, enable the memory profile in BIOS: enter BIOS, open Ai Tweaker, choose the appropriate setting under Ai OverClock Tuner, then save with F10. The exact label and available options depend on the Prime model, CPU, memory kit and BIOS version; a profile is an overclock, not a guaranteed stable speed.
Check compatibility before changing BIOS settings
Start with the support page for your exact ASUS Prime motherboard model. In its CPU/Memory Support area, open the memory list and search for the kit’s full part number. ASUS says listed CPU and memory devices have been checked for compatibility and stability, making the QVL a useful screening tool; a listing does not guarantee the same result in every individual system. See ASUS’s instructions for finding a CPU and memory QVL.
- Confirm the full kit part number, rather than relying on the product family name or advertised speed.
- Use a matched kit rather than combining separately purchased modules, especially when troubleshooting a profile that will not run.
- Consider the CPU, number of DIMMs, capacity and BIOS version along with the motherboard. ASUS notes that attainable DRAM frequency depends on the DRAM, motherboard and CPU.
A memory kit’s rated profile speed is not a promise that the same speed will be stable in every system.
What XMP, EXPO and DOCP mean
XMP (Intel Extreme Memory Profile) and EXPO (AMD Extended Profiles for Overclocking) are memory profiles stored on the DIMMs’ SPD chip. ASUS describes DOCP (Direct Over Clock Profile) as a way for some boards to use profile settings, including XMP profiles, in BIOS. Selecting one loads preset memory settings such as timings; it does not establish that the resulting configuration is stable on your particular CPU and board.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
ASUS’s menu examples differ by platform: Intel-board examples include XMP I for XMP memory and DOCP for EXPO memory; AMD-board examples include EXPO I for EXPO memory and DOCP for XMP memory. These are examples, not a universal mapping. Menu names and choices vary by motherboard and BIOS version. Consult the support page and manual for your exact Prime model.
Enable a memory profile in BIOS
- Enter BIOS. Restart the computer and press Delete during startup, as shown in ASUS’s example. The key or timing can depend on the system.
- Switch to Advanced Mode if needed. Press F7 when BIOS opens in EZ Mode.
- Open Ai Tweaker. Find Ai OverClock Tuner. ASUS documents this representative path, but your board’s menu can differ.
- Select the profile that matches your memory and platform. Choose the supported XMP, EXPO or DOCP option shown in your BIOS. Do not assume a specific label will be present simply because another ASUS Prime board uses it.
- Save and restart. Press F10, review the changes shown, and confirm saving. Let the computer restart.
These steps follow ASUS’s BIOS guidance for XMP, EXPO and DOCP. ASUS says BIOS examples can differ by motherboard and BIOS version, so use your board’s documentation if the path or options do not match.

Check that the profile is stable
After restarting, use the computer normally and pay attention to failed starts, unexpected restarts, freezes or other errors. Reaching the operating system is not, by itself, proof that a memory overclock is stable. If problems appear, return to BIOS and restore the previous setting or follow the reset steps below. Do not raise voltage or change timings based on a generic guide; those adjustments require model- and hardware-specific guidance.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
When choosing between profile options, compare what your BIOS exposes, whether the exact board and CPU combination is supported, whether the modules are a matched kit and how the system behaves after the change. The available ASUS guidance does not establish a universal performance ranking among XMP, EXPO and DOCP labels, or guarantee that the kit’s highest advertised speed will work.

If the profile fails to start or causes instability
- Restore the settings. ASUS recommends clearing CMOS with the board’s CLRTC or CMOS-reset method if XMP, EXPO or DOCP fails. Follow the exact motherboard manual: the reset procedure and location are board-specific.
- Check the modules and placement. Use the memory-slot configuration specified by your motherboard manual. ASUS’s troubleshooting guidance also suggests trying modules individually when diagnosing a problem.
- Recheck the kit. Confirm its full part number against the motherboard QVL and use a matched kit rather than mixing modules.
- Consider a BIOS update. ASUS recommends updating BIOS if components listed on the QVL still have compatibility or stability problems. Use the instructions for your exact motherboard model.
- Retry conservatively. Once the system is stable at default memory settings, try only an option that your BIOS supports. If instability returns, keep the stable setting rather than pursuing a profile the system cannot reliably run.
When to consider XMP Tweaked
Some ASUS motherboards offer XMP Tweaked, an optional ASUS tuning profile that can adjust subtimings and other memory parameters beyond standard XMP profiles. ASUS cautions that it is not supported by every board or kit and that stability is not guaranteed. Use it only if the option is present for your configuration, and check the resulting system for stability; it is not a necessary step for enabling a standard profile.
