The stock identified as benefiting from Elon Musk’s reported comments about AI chips is Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), according to a Motley Fool article published October 9, 2026. The report says Musk praised Nvidia GPUs for AI processing and that SpaceX plans to use them exclusively going forward. Those claims point to potential demand, not a confirmed purchase or guaranteed stock gain.
What Musk reportedly said—and why Nvidia is the stock in focus
The October 9 Motley Fool article by Marc Guberti identifies Nvidia as the stock its headline says could benefit. It attributes two related claims to reporting about Musk and SpaceX: Musk praised Nvidia GPUs as the best available option for AI processing, and SpaceX will use Nvidia chips exclusively going forward. The available account does not independently establish the original post or confirm those claims through primary disclosures from Musk, SpaceX, or Nvidia.
The distinction matters: an endorsement can draw attention to a supplier, but it is not itself a purchase order, a revenue disclosure, or evidence that the stock will rise.
SpaceX’s reported financing plan is not a completed order
The same Motley Fool article reports that SpaceX is seeking $40 billion in financing to buy additional Nvidia chips. That is a reported funding effort with a stated intended use—not evidence that the financing has closed or that the chips have been bought. The timing, final amount, and any resulting Nvidia revenue are not established by the report.
#1 Best Overall
- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
If the financing and purchases proceed, they could support demand for Nvidia’s AI hardware. If funding, procurement, or deployment is delayed or changed, the expected demand may not arrive on the implied timetable. Investors should distinguish prospective customer spending from recognized sales.
What the report says about Nvidia’s business—and what it does not prove
Guberti’s article also cites Nvidia fiscal 2027 second-quarter revenue more than doubling year over year and a 62% net profit margin. These are figures reported by the article; they should be checked against Nvidia’s original earnings materials before being treated as independently verified here. Even if accurate for that quarter, one period’s growth and margin do not establish that either will persist.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Powered by GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
- Integrated with 16GB GDDR7 256bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0
- WINDFORCE cooling system
The report’s business case therefore has two different parts: Nvidia’s reported operating performance and the possibility of additional customer demand associated with SpaceX. Neither resolves the stock’s valuation. No current share price, valuation multiple, or live market capitalization is established here, so the catalyst alone cannot show whether NVDA is attractively priced.

Terafab is a separate project, not proof Nvidia has been displaced
Terafab should not be conflated with the reported Nvidia procurement. A Tom’s Hardware report published October 7, 2026 says Intel would remain involved in the project and describes a reported arrangement involving Intel’s next-generation 14A process. The report also describes Musk proposing that TSMC might sublease part of Terafab while Musk’s companies build and operate the facility. Details remain unclear; these reports do not establish completed production capacity or guaranteed commercial output.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
In that account, Musk was quoted as saying, “No, we will build and run the fab. Let there be ZERO doubt about that. Maybe TSMC subleases part of the Terafab if they want, but nothing more than that.” Tom’s Hardware reproduced the statement; it has not been independently checked against the original post here. A prospective fabrication project is a distinct, longer-term manufacturing story and does not show that Nvidia has been displaced as the reported supplier to SpaceX’s AI operations.
What could weaken the Nvidia thesis
- Financing and execution: SpaceX’s reported effort to raise funds is not a closed financing or a completed chip purchase.
- Valuation: Strong operating results or a high-profile customer can already be reflected in a share price; the available reporting does not establish a current valuation.
- Growth and margin durability: Reported results from a single quarter do not guarantee that demand, revenue growth, or margins will continue at the same pace.
- Competition and alternatives: AI-chip demand can be served through competing products or customer-developed hardware. The Terafab reporting points to a separate manufacturing effort, but does not establish its eventual output or its effect on Nvidia orders.
- Customer concentration and market conditions: A large buyer may matter to demand, but supply constraints, changing procurement plans, broader market moves, and other customer decisions can also affect results and the stock.
How to read the headline as an investor
The reported Musk comments and SpaceX plans are a possible catalyst for Nvidia, not an investment conclusion. Before making a decision, verify any claimed orders or financing against company disclosures, review Nvidia’s filings and earnings materials for current growth and margins, and assess the share price and valuation using current market data. A customer endorsement or spending plan does not guarantee future investment performance.
