This guide covers the Tarnished Edition additions—four armor sets, two starting classes, and three Torrent appearance options—plus several related weapons and pieces of Shadow of the Erdtree equipment that can be obtained in the base game. It is not a checklist of every item in Elden Ring or its expansion. Most location details below come from PC Gamer’s guides published August 27, 2026; progression requirements are called out so you can plan around them.
What does Tarnished Edition include?
FromSoftware announced that Elden Ring Tarnished Edition launched for Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026. That edition bundles the original game and Shadow of the Erdtree with four new armor sets, two starting classes, and three Torrent appearance options. The same additions are sold as the Tarnished Pack for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and Steam; the pack requires the separately sold base game.

Bandai Namco lists physical and digital versions of the Switch 2 edition, but that does not establish current stock or pricing in a particular region. The locations below apply to the Tarnished Edition additions and related equipment, not every collectible in the base game and expansion.
How do you get the new class armor and weapons?
Choosing either new class during character creation grants its associated equipment immediately. If you are continuing with an existing character—or want a different starting class—you can collect the armor and weapons at the locations below. The routes are based on PC Gamer’s August 27, 2026 guide.

Idus Knight: Silver Grooved set and Idus Sword
- Starting option: Choose Idus Knight at character creation to begin with the Silver Grooved armor set and Idus Sword.
- Silver Grooved set: Buy it from the Nomadic Merchant in north Liurnia. He is east of the ravine leading to Ruin-Strewn Precipice: north of Bellum Church, southeast of Caria Manor, and west of the Grand Lift of Dectus.
- Idus Sword: Loot the corpse beside a tree in southern Liurnia, northwest of the Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace. The sword is a separate pickup; buying the armor does not grant it.
Heavy Knight: Heavy Knight set and Hefty Scimitar
- Starting option: Choose Heavy Knight at character creation to begin with the Heavy Knight set and Hefty Scimitar.
- Heavy Knight set: Buy it from the Isolated Merchant at the Isolated Merchant’s Shack in western Weeping Peninsula. The shack is toward the coast, south of Fourth Church of Marika and Witchbane Ruins.
- Hefty Scimitar: Buy it from the Nomadic Merchant in southern East Limgrave, northwest of Fort Haight. The weapon and armor come from different merchants.
Where are the other Tarnished Edition armor sets?
Leontiel’s armor and greatsword
Defeat Starscourge Radahn, then travel north from the Starscourge Radahn Site of Grace toward the War-Dead Catacombs. Leontiel invades on the way. Defeating her awards her armor and greatsword. PC Gamer also reports that Leontiel can be summoned for the Radahn fight.
Broken Gold Mask set and Golden Order Flail
This reward requires Leyndell progression and Brother Corhyn’s quest sequence. First obtain the Golden Order Principia prayerbook from the upper floor of the arena where you fight the golden shade of Godfrey. Give the book to Miriel or Corhyn and learn Law of Regression. At Leyndell, cast the spell at the Radagon statue during the quest sequence to trigger the Broken Gold Mask invasion. Defeat the invader to receive the Broken Gold Mask set and Golden Order Flail.

The invasion is unavailable after Leyndell becomes Ashen Capital, so complete this step before that change if you want the reward on this playthrough.

Where can you find related weapons without entering the expansion?
These are not all new Tarnished Edition items. They are additional equipment covered by PC Gamer’s guide because players can obtain it in the base game, including equipment associated with Shadow of the Erdtree.

Reverse-Bladed Sword, also called Backhand Blades
Buy the weapon from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold. PC Gamer reports it is available upon arrival, without entering Shadow of the Erdtree.
Ritual Thrusting Shield
- Use the Siofra River Well in eastern Limgrave to enter Siofra River.
- Travel north through Siofra to Deep Siofra Well. Use two Stonesword Keys to unlock the lift at the far end.
- At the top, go west from Deep Siofra Well and follow the path to the Caelid colosseum.
- In the colosseum’s entrance room, loot the corpse behind the giant jar.
Reed Great Katana
In Dragonbarrow, find the mound of scarlet rot growths almost directly north of Fort Faroth. Climb the mound to the left of Greyoll’s head and loot the corpse at the top.

Where are the three Torrent appearance options?
The three Spectral Steed Regalia are found in different regions. Once you have one, visit a Site of Grace and choose “change spectral steed appearance” to apply it. These routes are reported by PC Gamer’s August 27, 2026 Torrent guide.
Tree Sentinel
After defeating Godrick in Stormveil Castle, enter the throne room and take the doorway to the right behind the throne. Open the chest there for the Tree Sentinel regalia. Existing characters can return to collect it.

Carian Silver
Defeat Loretta at Caria Manor to reach Ranni’s Rise in north Liurnia. The Carian Silver regalia is in a chest in the main downstairs room near the Site of Grace.
Funereal Night
In Altus Plateau, follow the road southeast from Hermit Merchant’s Shack toward the sword memorial on the cliff edge. The Funereal Night regalia is beside a small sword to the memorial’s left.

Which pickups require the most planning?
- Simple purchases or pickups: The Silver Grooved set, Heavy Knight set, Hefty Scimitar, Idus Sword, Reverse-Bladed Sword, and Reed Great Katana have merchant or world-item locations rather than the quest triggers described below.
- Boss or quest progression: Leontiel’s gear follows Radahn’s defeat. Broken Gold Mask rewards require the Law of Regression step in Corhyn’s quest before Leyndell becomes Ashen Capital.
- Region access: Carian Silver requires defeating Loretta to access Ranni’s Rise. The Ritual Thrusting Shield route requires two Stonesword Keys to open the lift beyond Siofra.
- Class choice: Starting as Idus Knight or Heavy Knight gives that class’s equipment at the beginning; an existing character can instead collect the relevant set and weapon separately.
