You cannot verify whether a specific PC will run El Paso, Elsewhere 2 yet. The sequel has been announced for Steam, but as of 16 October 2026 there is no published release date, minimum or recommended PC specification, graphics-settings list, or tested frame-rate target. The only detailed requirements currently visible for the franchise are for the original El Paso, Elsewhere, released in 2023; those figures must not be treated as requirements for the sequel.

What has actually been announced for El Paso, Elsewhere 2?

Steam release is planned, but timing is not fixed

A 7 June 2026 report by PC Gamer says El Paso, Elsewhere 2 is planned for the following year and can be wishlisted on Steam. The report does not give a specific launch day. That makes the project announced software rather than a released PC product with a final technical specification.

The sequel’s scope is described, not its hardware target

The announcement describes more than 20 levels, including libraries, nightclubs, eldritch-horror lairs and suburbia. It also describes third-person shooting with slow motion. Those details establish the game’s intended variety and perspective, but they do not establish a GPU class, CPU generation, memory requirement or performance target. A larger or more visually complex environment can affect performance, yet no measured benchmark has been published from which a reliable estimate can be calculated.

The missing information matters

There is currently no official figure for any of the following sequel-specific items:

#1 Best Overall
CyberPowerPC Gaming PC, AMD Ryzen 7 8700F, GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB
  • System: AMD Ryzen 7 8700F 4.1GHz 8 Cores | AMD B850 Chipset | 16GB DDR5 | 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD | Windows 11 Home
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB Graphics | 1x HDMI | 2x DisplayPort
  • Connectivity: 2 x USB-C 3.2 | 4 x USB-A 3.2 | 2 x USB-A 2.0 | 1 x LAN | WiFi 6 | Bluetooth 5.3 | 7.1 Channel Audio
  • Tempered Side Case Panel | Custom RGB Lighting | Keyboard and Mouse
  • 1 Year Parts & Labor Warranty, Free Lifetime Tech Support
  • Windows version or other operating-system requirement
  • Processor model for minimum or recommended play
  • Graphics card model, video-memory requirement or ray-tracing requirement
  • System RAM
  • Storage capacity
  • DirectX or other graphics API version
  • Supported output resolutions, upscaling methods or frame-rate targets
  • Graphics presets and individual options

Without those values, a claim such as “any GTX 1080 PC will run the sequel” or “60 frames per second at 1080p is guaranteed” would be speculation.

Do the original game’s requirements apply to the sequel?

No. Steam’s published figures belong to El Paso, Elsewhere, which launched on 26 September 2023. They are useful as historical context for the predecessor, not as a minimum specification or prediction for the sequel.

Item Original El Paso, Elsewhere (Steam listing) El Paso, Elsewhere 2
Release status Released 26 September 2023 Announced for Steam; release date not specified in the cited announcement
Operating system Windows 10 64-bit Not stated
Processor Intel Core i5-11600K or equivalent Not stated
Memory 4 GB RAM Not stated
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 or equivalent Not stated
Graphics API DirectX 11 Not stated
Storage 3 GB Not stated

The original listing’s “equivalent” wording also requires care: equivalence depends on the workload and the comparison method, so it is not a universal guarantee for every card or processor. More importantly, a sequel can change engine technology, lighting, volumetric effects, asset density and streaming behavior. The predecessor’s numbers therefore cannot be carried forward by simply adding a small margin.

Can your current PC run El Paso, Elsewhere 2?

There is no evidence-based yes-or-no answer until the developer or Steam publishes the sequel’s specification. You can still record your machine now so that an official comparison takes minutes later.

Record the components that will be compared

  • CPU model and core/thread configuration
  • GPU model and dedicated video-memory capacity
  • Total system RAM
  • Windows edition and whether it is 64-bit
  • Free space on the drive where you would install the game
  • Monitor or television resolution and refresh rate

Do not treat the original game’s 4 GB RAM, GTX 1080 or i5-11600K figures as a pass/fail test for the sequel. They can tell you what the 2023 game listed, but they cannot tell you whether a later build will start, which preset it will use or how consistently it will render a busy scene.

  1. Below minimum: expect that the game may fail to launch, exhibit severe instability or require compromises that the developer does not support.
  2. Between minimum and recommended: launch may be realistic, but resolution, effects and frame-rate targets will depend on the developer’s testing conditions.
  3. At or above recommended: this is the publisher’s intended higher-quality tier, not a promise of a particular frame rate on every map or display.

Also check whether the listed target is for a desktop PC only. Handhelds have different power, thermal and resolution limits, so a desktop requirement cannot automatically be used as a handheld profile.

Which performance settings should you expect?

No sequel settings menu has been published in the available announcement material. The most useful approach is to wait for an actual list, then evaluate options by the type of bottleneck they address rather than by preset names alone.

Setting or specification to check Why it affects a buying or tuning decision What is known for the sequel now
Render resolution and resolution scale Lowering the number of rendered pixels can reduce GPU load while preserving the display’s output resolution. Not stated
Upscaling method An upscaler can trade image detail or reconstruction artifacts for performance. Not stated
Volumetric effects Fog, light shafts and other volume calculations can be expensive, especially in scenes with many effects. Not stated
Ray tracing Ray-traced effects can substantially change GPU and CPU workload. Not stated
Texture quality and video memory Higher textures consume more VRAM; insufficient VRAM can cause streaming problems or stutter. Not stated
Frame-rate cap and synchronization A cap can smooth delivery and limit heat or power use when the system cannot sustain a display’s maximum refresh rate. Not stated
CPU-heavy simulation or audio options Some options consume processor time even when the GPU has headroom. Not stated
API and operating-system support These determine whether the game can launch and which driver path it uses. Not stated

  • FUTURE-PROOF YOUR PASSIONS – The Legion Tower 5i delivers stutter-free gameplay, fast loading times, and seamless multitasking. It’s equipped with 16GB and expandable to 128GB of 5600MHz DDR5 memory.
  1. Choose the display resolution and a sensible frame-rate cap for your monitor.
  2. Reduce render scale or enable the supported upscaler if the GPU is the limiting component.
  3. Lower volumetric, ray-tracing or other lighting effects if those options exist and frame time remains high.
  4. Reduce textures only when video-memory use is the problem; lowering textures will not fix a CPU limit.
  5. Disable optional CPU-heavy features, including high-quality audio if the sequel offers a comparable control and the processor is overloaded.
  6. Test a larger or more effects-heavy level, not only an empty corridor or menu, before deciding that a setting is stable.

This is a method for responding to the final menu, not a claim that every listed control will ship in El Paso, Elsewhere 2.

What the original game tells us about performance

The predecessor offers limited, clearly labeled evidence from SteamDeckHQ. On Steam Deck, the original game ran at approximately 53–55 frames per second without changes, with worse results in larger areas. The tested profiles kept all settings enabled and changed render resolution rather than turning individual effects off.

Original-game Steam Deck profile Tested settings Observed result
Battery-oriented 50% render resolution, 40 FPS cap, TDP 8 Designed to reduce power use; the cited profile does not establish sequel behavior.
Higher-quality 70% render resolution, approximately 55 FPS Occasional drops to 45–47 FPS in larger areas.
Unmodified baseline Default settings Approximately 53–55 FPS, with lower results in larger areas.

These are measurements of the 2023 game on a handheld, under the reviewer’s conditions. They are not a 1080p desktop benchmark, not a sequel target and not evidence that a particular PC GPU will deliver a fixed frame rate.

Controls and display features documented for the predecessor

SteamDeckHQ lists field-of-view adjustment, look sensitivity, auto-reload, automatic recovery after a dive, an inverted camera option and weapon-swap toggles. It also reports 16:10 support and full controller support for the original PC version. Unless the sequel’s listing or menus confirm the same controls, treat them as predecessor features only.

What about CPU limits, audio and stutter?

In a Steam discussion, Strange Scaffold developer Xalavier Nelson Jr. wrote: “Yeah – turning off that High Quality Audio option gives you more CPU space, and if you have an older CPU, the graphics engine (which uses a lot of raytracing and volumetrics) will put you in a tough spot performance-wise.” The comment concerns the original game. It identifies a useful troubleshooting pattern—an audio option can consume processor time, while ray tracing and volumetrics can be demanding—but it does not confirm that the sequel uses the same engine, options or workload.

The same discussion records reports of stutter and a later overall optimization pass for the original. If the sequel ever shows similar symptoms, check for a current patch and official troubleshooting guidance before assuming that a new GPU is required. A stutter report alone cannot distinguish shader compilation, asset streaming, a CPU limit, a driver issue or a game bug.

A disciplined troubleshooting sequence

  1. Confirm that the game and graphics driver are fully updated.
  2. Reproduce the problem in a repeatable location and note whether it occurs during camera movement, combat, loading or audio changes.
  3. Watch whether GPU utilization, CPU utilization or video-memory use is saturated at the moment of the hitch.
  4. Apply only settings that address the observed limit: render scale and lighting for a GPU limit, textures for VRAM pressure, or CPU-heavy options for a processor limit.
  5. Remove an aggressive frame-rate cap or synchronization combination only long enough to identify whether it is causing uneven pacing; restore a stable cap afterward.
  6. If the issue persists, report the exact hardware, operating system, settings and reproducible location through the developer’s support channel.

Should you upgrade or buy hardware before the requirements are published?

There is no defensible sequel-specific upgrade recommendation at this stage. A generic GPU, gaming PC, controller or storage purchase would imply compatibility that the available evidence does not establish. Waiting avoids paying for a part that may not address the sequel’s actual bottleneck.

What to do instead

  • Keep your current hardware inventory and driver information.
  • Leave more free drive space than the original game’s 3 GB listing required, but do not infer a sequel capacity from that number.
  • Wishlist the Steam listing so you can see when a specification, release date or demo appears.
  • When requirements arrive, compare CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, API, operating system, target resolution and target frame rate as separate fields.
  • Look for a developer-confirmed benchmark or demo before buying specifically for this game.

How to verify the final requirements

Check the sequel’s Steam store page and announcements from Strange Scaffold when the listing is updated. A complete specification should identify minimum and recommended CPU/GPU, RAM, storage, operating-system and API requirements. A useful performance note should also state the test resolution, expected frame rate and whether ray tracing, volumetrics, upscaling or frame caps were enabled.

Recheck after launch as well. Requirements can change between an announcement build, a release build and post-launch patches, while a settings menu can gain or lose options during optimization work. Until those details are published, the accurate answer to “Can my PC run El Paso, Elsewhere 2?” remains: not yet determinable from official data.
