Egypt II: The Heliopolis Prophecy has no dependable universal cheat-code list. The most useful “cheats” are version-aware walkthrough instructions: read the cursor icons, sweep every small hotspot, manage the inventory deliberately, and use platform-specific methods for the guard’s sliding tiles and the drummer’s rhythm test. This guide covers the opening items, optional ingredients, nine-chapter route, puzzle tactics, and legacy-version troubleshooting for PC, PlayStation, and Mac releases.
What to know before starting
Egypt II: The Heliopolis Prophecy is a point-and-click adventure set in Heliopolis. Available documentation identifies PC, PlayStation and Mac releases, but controls and even puzzle behavior can vary by edition. The detailed FAQ used for controller advice is specifically for PlayStation, so do not assume its button instructions or item requirements apply to a computer release.
Progress is generally linear. A new area may remain inaccessible until Tifet has spoken with the right character or collected a required object. If a doorway or scene appears inactive, retrace conversations and nearby containers before looking for a hidden code.

- Inventory discipline: inspect every object, select the intended item before using it, and remember that some objects picked up in the world must be placed in the inventory manually.

Controls, cursor meanings and inventory
Use the cursor as your detection tool
Move the pointer slowly across floors, walls, shelves, baskets, pots and other likely containers. A movement cursor marks a place Tifet can walk; an interaction cursor signals a usable background or object; a speech indicator identifies a character; and a map indicator opens fast travel when that option is available. In dark rooms, a fist-shaped cursor may be the only visible clue that a hotspot exists.

Hotspots can be very small. Do not rely on a broad sweep of the screen at normal speed: trace the edges of furniture and each container, then pause when the pointer changes. This method is more reliable than clicking randomly and prevents you from missing an item that the game expects before the next scene opens.
PC inventory workflow
The PC review describes a bar that opens with the right mouse button. Hover over an object for a short description, then click it to select it for use. A magnifying-eye icon provides a full-screen view, which is useful for reading or examining an item before combining it with something else. If an object appears to vanish after collection, check whether it still needs to be transferred into the inventory bar manually.
PlayStation and Mac caveat
PlayStation uses controller inputs rather than the PC mouse-and-right-click routine, and the PlayStation FAQ warns that versions can differ. The catalog material identifies a Mac release, but the available instructions do not establish a separate Mac control map. Use the prompts shown by your edition and treat PC key or mouse directions as platform-specific rather than universal.

Opening sequence and early item checklist
Answer the call for help
At the beginning, Djehouty’s message sets the investigation in motion. Tifet then takes the Book of Remedies and eye ointment from the counter. These are the first concrete objects in the walkthrough, so confirm that both are in the inventory before leaving the opening area.
Optional warehouse ingredients (PlayStation guide)
The PlayStation FAQ lists three optional items in the early warehouse:
- Blue juniper berries
- Caraway
- Bean flour
The guide labels these as optional. Their presence in that FAQ does not prove that every edition requires them, so collect them when your PlayStation route allows it but do not assume a missing ingredient means the game is broken on another platform.

Search routine for every room
- Walk the perimeter of the scene and let the cursor pass over shelves, baskets, pots, tables and floor-level objects.
- Pause on any cursor change, including a fist in a shadowed corner.
- Take the object, then open the inventory and verify that it is present.
- Read the description and inspect it with the magnifying-eye view when available.
- Repeat the sweep after a major conversation; linear progression can reveal a newly active hotspot.
Nine-chapter route through Heliopolis
The Big Fish walkthrough divides the story into nine broad stages. Use this as a progress map rather than a substitute for checking each scene.

Guard’s sliding-tile puzzle
The clearest instructions for this puzzle come from the PlayStation FAQ. Solve one side first instead of moving pieces indiscriminately. Tiles that light up indicate correct placements, giving you a way to lock in progress while you work on the remaining side. Tifet also provides verbal hints; listen to her comments after moves rather than skipping every line.
A practical solving method
- Choose one side of the board and identify a tile whose destination is unambiguous.
- Move that tile into place and check whether its correct-state light appears.
- Keep confirmed tiles fixed while arranging the unsolved side.
- When Tifet comments on the arrangement, treat the statement as a directional hint, not background dialogue.
- If the board seems impossible, restart the sequence and use the lights to avoid disturbing already-correct pieces.
Because this advice is from a PlayStation-focused guide, keyboard or mouse players should use the same logic—one side, confirmed lights, verbal hints—but not expect identical input timing or board behavior.

Finding the drummer’s instrument
Several walkthrough accounts send Tifet to a sleeping musician in a garden gazebo or pavilion. Search that garden structure, take the drum, and return to the villa or ballroom as directed by your route. If the musician’s area appears inaccessible, finish the conversations that lead to the garden before trying to force the scene.
How to handle the ballroom drum puzzle
The objective is to reproduce a rhythm. The accounts differ: one Big Fish walkthrough says that repeated failures eventually make lights appear to show when to play and records a repeating keyboard pattern; the PlayStation FAQ describes controller inputs with visual indicators appearing in real time; and an archived GameBoomers walkthrough does not publish a fixed solution. These descriptions should not be merged into one universal sequence.

Platform-safe procedure
- Identify your platform and release before applying any key or button advice.
- Start the rhythm and watch the on-screen lights rather than relying on memory from another version.
- Match each cue at the moment it appears; do not assume that a PC keyboard pattern maps to PlayStation buttons.
- If your edition reveals indicators only after failed attempts, allow the sequence to fail enough times for its own visual aid to activate.
- When a guide’s sequence conflicts with what your screen shows, follow the in-game cues and your edition’s control prompts.
The absence of one fixed sequence in the archived walkthrough is significant: a pattern that works in one release may be wrong in another. Treat a printed sequence as version-specific, not as a cheat code.

Legacy crash and patch notes
Older player reports mention two issues, but neither is current technical-support guidance.
- Original Cryo CD: GameBoomers reported a patch intended to make the drum puzzle easier. The report does not establish that the patch is still hosted, that it works with every disc edition, or that it resolves compatibility with modern operating systems.
- DVD conversation crash: A reviewer reported a crash during dialogue and said that pressing the spacebar to skip the speech worked in that instance. This is an anecdotal workaround for that release, not a guaranteed fix.
Before applying any old patch, verify the disc or digital edition, region, operating system and backup status. Do not replace game files with an unverified download simply because a forum post names it.
Choosing a copy and checking compatibility
Catalog information identifies PC and PlayStation releases and also lists Mac. A Windows manual scan associates one package with Windows 95, 98 and ME, which describes the original packaging rather than modern support. If you are looking for a legacy physical copy, search by the full title and confirm the edition, platform, region, disc condition and seller’s return policy. A catalog dreamlist is not proof that copies are currently sold or that a particular release runs on your computer.

Fast troubleshooting checklist
- No item appears: rescan dark corners and container edges for the fist cursor, then check whether the object must be moved into inventory manually.
- A route is blocked: revisit every nearby character and complete all available dialogue; progression can depend on a conversation.
- The tile board gets worse: restart and complete one side while preserving tiles that show the lit-up correct state.
- The drum advice fails: stop using a sequence from another platform and follow your edition’s live visual cues.
- A dialogue crash occurs: note the exact release; the historical spacebar skip was reported for one DVD instance only.
- An old patch is suggested: verify that it matches your Cryo CD or other release and remember that historical fixes do not guarantee modern operating-system support.
What counts as a “cheat” in Egypt II
For this game, reliable help is procedural rather than a list of passwords: cursor reading exposes hidden hotspots, careful inventory handling prevents lost objects, and platform-aware puzzle tactics remove the most common roadblocks. The documented guides do not provide a verified set of universal cheat codes. Using the nine-chapter route, the warehouse checklist and the two puzzle methods above will take you farther than applying an unqualified code or sequence copied from a different release.
