Verdict: The European-market EGO Power+ LM2135E-SP is a substantial 52cm self-propelled mower kit supplied with the BA4200T 7.5Ah battery and CH5500E rapid charger. Its 70L collector, seven 25–90mm cutting positions, rear-wheel drive and automatic variable-speed control make it a plausible fit for larger lawns, but the wide deck needs room around obstacles and the battery figures are estimates rather than guarantees. EGO claims up to 1,000m² per charge and a 60-minute recharge; a 2021 Oz Tool Talk description reports 50 minutes with the 7.5Ah battery under its own conditions. Those figures should not be treated as equivalent test results.
What the LM2135E-SP kit actually is
The model reviewed here is the European LM2135E-SP, not the similarly named North American LM2135SP. The suffix and regional listing matter because kit contents, battery designations and market specifications can differ. EGO Power+ Europe describes this version as a 52cm self-propelled mower kit. EGO UK identifies the included components by part number:
- LM2135E-SP mower with a 52cm cutting deck.
- BA4200T 7.5Ah 56V battery.

- 70L grass collector.
The ABP2100D-E mulching kit is listed as an accessory, not as part of the standard LM2135E-SP package. If you expect to mulch, check that the accessory is available and compatible in your country before ordering. Do not assume that a listing showing a mower body includes a battery or charger: the European kit designation is what establishes those inclusions.

EGO’s Europe page also lists LED headlights, a brushless motor and a poly deck; the UK listing specifies rear-wheel drive and variable-speed control. These are manufacturer or seller specifications, not observations from a hands-on test in this review.

Cutting width, height and collection
Why a 52cm deck changes the job
A 52cm deck covers more ground per pass than EGO’s 42cm, 47cm or 50cm options. That can reduce the number of parallel runs on an open lawn, which is the main practical reason to choose this size. The trade-off is physical: a wider machine needs more clearance at gates, between beds and around trees, and it occupies more floor or shed width when stored. Measure the narrowest access point rather than only the lawn itself.
Coverage is not simply a matter of multiplying deck width by walking distance. You lose some width to overlap, edges and irregular corners, and a self-propelled mower may travel at a pace that differs from your preferred walking speed. A 52cm machine therefore makes most sense where long, unobstructed runs allow its width to be used repeatedly. On a small lawn broken into strips, the theoretical time saving can disappear in turning and repositioning.
Seven settings from 25 to 90mm
The UK listing specifies seven height positions spanning 25–90mm. The range gives you a low finish when conditions permit and a high setting for long, stressed or uneven grass. The number of positions does not tell you how the lever feels or whether the deck remains level while changing height; those are points to check in a local demonstration or the current manual. Avoid cutting more than the grass can tolerate in one pass, particularly after a period of rapid growth.

For routine mowing, select a height that leaves enough leaf area for the grass to recover, then raise the deck when growth is long, dry or uneven. The 90mm maximum can be useful when bringing an overgrown area back under control, but a high setting may require a second pass if you want a shorter finish. The published range describes adjustment capability; it does not prescribe a suitable height for your particular grass species or season.
70L collector and cutting modes
The 70L collector is one of the LM2135E-SP’s useful large-lawn specifications. A larger bag can mean fewer emptying stops, although the actual interval depends on grass length, moisture and how finely the mower cuts. EGO describes both collection and mulching as available cutting modes. The ABP2100D-E is the named mulching accessory, so budget and verify that part separately if returning clippings to the lawn is important to you.
A full 70L bag also adds weight, particularly when clippings are damp. Plan where you will empty it and whether the route to a compost bin or green-waste container has steps or narrow turns. A nominally large collector is beneficial only if you can remove, carry and refit it comfortably. Check the bag frame and attachment in person if possible, because the listings establish capacity but do not describe the handling of a full collector.

“Select Cut” is a family feature, not a promise that every mower in the range is packaged identically. EGO describes interchangeable blades for the platform, with separate specialist options for bagging and mulching on the LM2130E-SP page. Buyers comparing listings should look for the exact LM2135E-SP part description, included blade or insert, and any regional bundle notes. If a retailer uses a generic Select Cut photograph, ask what is physically in the box.

Blade changes are not a casual adjustment to make with the battery installed. Follow the model-specific manual for isolation, blade orientation, fastener torque and inspection intervals. The documentation index includes a manual and safety sheet for this kit; those documents take precedence over generic instructions copied from another EGO mower.
Self-propelled drive: what the specification does and does not promise
The mower is specified with rear-wheel drive and automatic variable speed. Self-propulsion can reduce the effort of moving a 52cm machine across a large lawn, and rear-wheel drive is a sensible layout when traction is needed behind the deck. Variable speed should let the mower move more slowly in tight areas and more quickly on open stretches. However, neither feature removes every physical demand: you still guide the direction, manage turns, control the mower near edges and deal with slopes, wet grass and obstacles.
Rear-wheel drive can feel helpful when the collector is filling because weight is concentrated toward the back, but the specification alone does not establish traction on every surface. Slopes, soft ground, roots and wet clippings can alter grip. A self-propelled system also needs room to disengage before a tight turn; do not assume that drive assistance makes pivoting around a tree effortless.

When you inspect one, check whether the drive engages smoothly, whether the speed range suits your walking pace and whether the controls remain comfortable while wearing gloves. On a slope, plan a route that preserves stable footing and follow the safety instructions for the exact machine; do not infer a safe gradient from the presence of self-propulsion alone.
Battery coverage and charging: read the numbers correctly
EGO’s area estimate
EGO Power+ Europe says: “The 7.5Ah battery provided in this kit will allow you to cut up to 1000sqm on a single charge, and the rapid charger will get you back on the move in 60 minutes.” This is a manufacturer statement on the current European product page, accessed 13 October 2026. It is an “up to” estimate, not a guarantee for every property. Grass height, moisture, blade condition, chosen cutting height, slope, speed, overlap and how often the motor encounters dense growth can all change consumption.
The 50-minute reviewer report
Oz Tool Talk’s 2021 video description reports 50 minutes with the included 7.5Ah battery. That is a reviewer-reported runtime, not a controlled laboratory result documented in this article. It cannot be converted directly into a 1,000m² coverage figure because the two statements use different measures and may involve different mowing conditions.
Planning for your lawn
Use the 1,000m² figure as an optimistic planning ceiling and leave margin for real conditions. If your lawn approaches that size, divide it into sections and consider whether a second compatible battery would prevent an inconvenient pause. The supplied BA4200T already covers the kit requirement; a spare is an optional purchase, not a missing component. Confirm regional battery compatibility before buying an additional pack, especially if you are comparing European and North American listings.
Battery capacity is expressed in amp-hours, but that number alone does not tell you how long the mower will run. The motor’s load changes continuously, and a dense patch can consume more energy than an easy, dry pass. Keep the blade sharp according to EGO’s instructions, avoid mowing wet material when the manual advises against it, and do not plan a property-wide schedule around the best-case area claim. If the lawn is divided into front and rear sections, charging during a natural break may be more convenient than buying a second pack immediately.

The 60-minute figure describes EGO’s rapid-charger claim, not necessarily the time from every state of discharge under every temperature condition. Allow the charger and battery to cool or warm within the limits specified by EGO before charging, and use the supplied CH5500E or an explicitly compatible charger. A second BA4200T can reduce downtime, but it adds cost and storage; it is most defensible for lawns that regularly exceed one charge or for users who already own compatible EGO tools.
Who is the 52cm kit suited to?
Open, larger lawns
The strongest case is an open lawn where the wider deck can reduce pass count and the 70L collector can limit emptying interruptions. The self-propelled drive is also more relevant as walking distance and accumulated pushing effort increase.
Sloping ground
Rear-wheel drive and variable speed may make a slope easier to manage than a push-only mower, but they are not a substitute for traction, safe footwear or a route that keeps you balanced. Wet slopes and long grass can challenge any cordless mower. Read the supplied safety documentation before deciding whether your terrain is appropriate.
Gardens with many obstacles
A 52cm deck is less agile in narrow passages. If most of your cutting is between raised beds, shrubs, play equipment and fence corners, a smaller deck may finish sooner despite covering less area per pass. Measure gate openings and storage doors, and account for turning space around fixed obstacles.
Storage and transport
Include the folded or parked mower, collector, battery and charger in your storage plan. The listings identify a poly deck, but they do not establish a particular folded height, handle-locking method or lifting weight. A 52cm body may fit through a shed door yet still be awkward to lift over a threshold. Ask the retailer for packed and operating dimensions if your access is marginal, and keep the battery and charger in the dry conditions specified by EGO.
How it compares with other EGO deck sizes
EGO’s current mower range includes 42cm, 47cm, 50cm, 52cm and 55cm deck options. The deck number alone does not determine which mower is best; match it to access, lawn layout, storage and the kit you actually receive.

These are selection principles, not performance rankings. EGO’s published range does not establish that every deck size shares the LM2135E-SP’s battery, drive system or collector, so compare complete model numbers and package suffixes rather than assuming features transfer across the range.
Battery-platform ownership can change the value calculation. If you already have EGO 56V equipment and a compatible battery, a mower-only package may be attractive, but this particular European LM2135E-SP listing is notable because it includes the BA4200T and CH5500E. Conversely, a first-time buyer should compare the complete kit price with a smaller mower bundled with a different battery size, not just compare deck widths.

Confirm the European suffix
Look for LM2135E-SP and the European kit description. Do not substitute a listing for LM2135SP without checking its market, battery, charger and included accessories. A similar model name is not proof of identical equipment.
Confirm the two included electrical components
The expected kit battery is BA4200T (7.5Ah) and the expected rapid charger is CH5500E. Ask the retailer to state both part numbers when a listing is abbreviated or shows only a product photograph.
Separate the mulching purchase
The ABP2100D-E is an optional mulching kit according to EGO’s listings. Treat it as a separate line item and verify local compatibility; do not pay for it if you intend to collect every cutting.

- Measure the narrowest gate, shed door and path.
- Allow turning space at the end of each run.
- Plan where the mower, 70L collector, battery and charger will stay dry.
- Check that your charging location has the appropriate power supply and ventilation required by the charger instructions.
Ask for current local commercial terms
The evidence here does not establish a current broad-market price, stock position, warranty term or regional service experience. Those details vary by country and retailer. Check the current local listing and the manufacturer’s authorised-stockist route immediately before purchase rather than relying on an old price or an overseas page.
When comparing prices, separate the mower body, battery, charger and accessories. A low headline price may be for a bare tool, while a seemingly expensive listing may include the 7.5Ah pack and rapid charger. Confirm delivery charges, collection or recycling arrangements for batteries, and the retailer’s process for warranty claims. None of those commercial terms can be inferred from the mower’s specifications.

EGO provides a manual and safety-sheet entry for the LM2135E-SP kit. Consult those documents for assembly, blade handling, cleaning, storage, charging, transport and operating restrictions. This review does not substitute for those instructions, and no exact manual procedure was independently checked here.
At a minimum, treat the battery and blade as separate hazards: remove the battery before any inspection or cleaning step that the manual requires, keep hands clear of the blade, and store the battery and charger in the conditions specified by EGO. Keep the collector, deck and discharge path clear only by the method described for this model. A brushless motor and poly deck are specifications, not permission to hose, tip or service the mower in an unapproved way.
Before each session, inspect the cutting area for stones, toys, wire and branches, then check the collector and controls. Stop the mower before crossing gravel or making adjustments, and use the safety procedure in the LM2135E-SP documentation for removing the battery. LED headlights can extend visibility in dim conditions, but they do not make obstacles or unsafe weather acceptable.
