If images are missing in Microsoft Edge, first check whether the problem affects one website or many, then compare the page in another browser. That split helps distinguish an Edge-specific issue from a problem with the website or your connection. Next, test the cache and extensions; investigate tracking prevention only if Edge’s diagnostics point to a blocked resource.
First, find out where the problem occurs
Reload the affected page and note whether every image is missing, only some images are missing, or the problem occurs only on one site. Then open another website and, if possible, load the affected page in a different browser.
- One site fails, other sites work: The site or the service hosting its images becomes a stronger suspect.
- Several sites fail only in Edge: Focus first on Edge’s cache, extensions, and relevant browser diagnostics.
- Several sites fail in multiple browsers: Check the network or device configuration.
A comparison is a clue, not proof: browsers can use different settings and network paths. Microsoft’s general Edge troubleshooting guidance also recommends trying another browser and checking network issues.

Clear Edge’s cached images and files
Edge stores temporary internet files to help pages load faster. Microsoft says clearing cached data can sometimes fix page-display problems. Clear the cached images and files, then reload the affected page.

- In Edge, open Settings and more (the three-dot menu), then select Settings.
- Open Privacy, search, and services and find the browsing-data clearing controls.
- Choose a time range, select Cached images and files, and clear the data.
- Return to the affected page and reload it.
Menu labels can vary by Edge version. Clearing cached images and files is the relevant test; cookies do not need to be cleared for it. If you also select cookies, you may be signed out of websites.
Test whether an extension is interfering
Ad blockers and privacy extensions can be possible causes of missing images, according to Microsoft Q&A community troubleshooting responses. Treat this as a test, not a confirmed or universal explanation.

- Open Edge’s extensions management page and temporarily turn off extensions.
- Reload the affected page and check whether its images appear.
- If they do, turn extensions back on one at a time, reloading after each change, to identify whether one consistently correlates with the problem.
- Restore extensions that are not implicated.
Check tracking prevention only if Edge shows a blocked resource
Edge may block a known tracking resource before its request reaches the network. Microsoft’s documentation says this depends on the resource’s compatibility impact and the user’s tracking-prevention setting. That mechanism makes a blocked request possible, but it does not establish that tracking prevention caused a particular missing image.

If you suspect this is happening, open DevTools and inspect the Console for tracking-prevention messages and blocked URLs, as described in Microsoft Edge’s tracking-prevention documentation. Only consider a temporary, reversible setting change when the diagnostics point to a relevant block; test the affected site and restore your preferred protection setting afterward. Do not turn off tracking prevention globally as a routine fix.

Separate a website problem from a network problem
Try the affected site in another browser and, if feasible, on another network. Interpret the results as indicators rather than proof:
- If the same site fails across browsers but other sites work, the website or its image host is a stronger suspect. Contact the site owner if the issue persists.
- If many unrelated sites fail across browsers, the network or device configuration is a stronger suspect. Microsoft recommends checking network issues and restarting network equipment as general troubleshooting steps.
- If the issue follows Edge across sites, return to the browser-specific tests and report the problem through Edge’s Help and feedback route if it remains unresolved.
Without evidence from the affected page, it is not possible to identify a specific cause such as DNS, a firewall, a certificate, or a content-delivery network.

What to include when asking for help
For a site-specific failure, contact the website owner. For a problem that follows Edge across multiple sites, use Edge’s Help and feedback route or Microsoft support resources. Include details that make the issue easier to reproduce:

- The affected website and whether all images or only some are missing.
- Your Edge version and whether the same page works in another browser.
- Whether the issue changes on another network.
- Whether disabling extensions changes the result.
- Any relevant tracking-prevention message or blocked URL shown in DevTools.
