ECHO is described by its creators as a browser-based, cel-shaded dark-fantasy RPG where spoken commands alter the simulated world—not just the dialogue. In a project article published October 6, 2026, author spideyy presents it as Team Alt F4’s submission for Hacker House Goa 2026, made in collaboration with Wispr Flow. Those team, event, and collaboration details are the author’s account; they have not been independently verified here.
What happens when you give ECHO a command?
The project article’s central idea is that voice is the controller: the player speaks an instruction, and the game translates it into a change in world or campaign state. The author frames the premise with the question, “How much of the world are you willing to destroy to create the world you want?”
For Mission 3, the article describes several possible approaches: protect Rowan, call rain, destroy a bridge, order soldiers to retreat, or fight directly. The stated design goal is to let those choices affect a simulation, rather than merely select a prewritten dialogue response.
Examples described by the author
- “Call the rain”: The article says this changes the weather to a storm, extinguishes torches, and causes raiders to flee.
- “Destroy the bridge”: It says the bridge collapses, prompting enemies to halt or reroute.
- “Protect Rowan”: The article describes a barrier activating and Rowan’s health and state being updated. It says Rowan’s ending depends on simulated health.

How the voice-command pipeline is described
The article outlines a two-path command system. Microphone input goes through the browser’s Web Speech Recognition API and a CommandParser. Mission-critical commands can be matched against local keywords; more nuanced natural-language requests can be sent to Gemini Flash for structured JSON. A dispatcher then routes actions to world, campaign, and timeline state systems.
According to the author, a matching local keyword can trigger its command without a Gemini API key or remote model call. The article describes that local fallback as a way to keep the game playable when the model is unavailable or not configured. It does not provide independent reliability or usability results for either path.

How ECHO handles timelines
The article describes an in-world Echo Tree as the place where players manipulate timelines. The system is said to save world snapshots, let players fork realities and move between branches, and rewind to narrative junctions. The author also says control settings persist through timeline rewrites.

What technology the project uses
The project article names React 19, TypeScript, Vite, Three.js, React Three Fiber, Drei, Zustand, the Web Speech Recognition API, Google Gemini Flash, vanilla CSS, and the Web Audio API. It describes custom cel-shading and procedurally textured meshes for the visual style.
The author also says audio is synthesized at runtime rather than loaded from audio files, citing river ambience and underwater acoustics as examples. This “zero audio files” description and the named implementation choices are the project author’s claims, not independent inspections of the code or assets.

Likewise, the article presents ECHO as a Hacker House Goa 2026 submission and describes a collaboration with Wispr Flow, but those claims alone do not establish the event outcome, the status of the collaboration, or whether the game is currently available to play.
