The EarFun Wave Pro X is a broad upgrade over the original Wave Pro, according to Tom’s Guide’s 2026 review: it pairs effective noise cancellation, comfortable fit, long claimed battery life and useful app customization with clear vocals. But that review also found muddy bass and harsh treble, so the upgrade does not make the Wave Pro X an automatic pick over other headphones in its price range.
What changed from the original Wave Pro?
The Wave Pro X succeeds EarFun’s Wave Pro and is described by Tom’s Guide as the company’s latest flagship over-ear model. The review calls it improved in nearly every aspect, while noting that it still falls short of the competition. Its launch price was listed as $129 in the US and £119 in the UK; Tom’s Guide put that $50 / £50 above the original Wave Pro’s retail price. Those are launch-era prices, not a guarantee of current street pricing.
The newer model’s listed hardware and connections include dual 40 mm DLC and 10 mm LCP drivers, Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint, USB-C and 3.5 mm wired connections, and support for codecs including LDAC and aptX Lossless. Codec availability depends on the source device and its configuration; a listed codec does not mean every phone, computer or audio source can use it.

Where the Wave Pro X makes a strong case
Noise cancellation and comfort
Tom’s Guide’s review praises the Wave Pro X’s ANC and comfort. These are reviewer impressions rather than results from a controlled comparison of every competing headphone. If you commute or work around steady background noise, the review’s positive ANC assessment is encouraging, but fit and noise-cancellation performance can vary by listener and environment.

Long battery life
Tom’s Guide lists up to 90 hours with ANC off and up to 50 hours with ANC on. EarFun’s IFA product page also advertises up to 90 hours. These are stated maximums, not a promise of a particular listener’s runtime; actual battery life depends on use and settings.
App customization and vocal clarity
The review highlights app customization and clear vocals as strengths. That combination may suit listeners who want to adjust the presentation and often listen to speech or vocal-led music. The positive vocal impression does not eliminate the review’s separate concerns about the overall tuning.

What keeps it from being an easy recommendation?
Sound tuning is not a universal strength
Tom’s Guide found the bass muddy and the treble harsh. These are subjective listening judgments from that review, not measurements or a consensus finding. They matter because comfort, ANC and battery cannot compensate for a sound signature that distracts you during everyday listening. Try the headphones or check the return terms if you are sensitive to bass definition or sharp high frequencies.

Specs do not settle the comparison
Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint and broad codec support make for a capable feature list, but specifications alone do not establish better sound, cancellation or comfort than a rival. The available review does not provide a controlled, model-by-model test of all alternatives below, so there is no basis here for naming a universal winner.

How it compares with the Wave Pro and other options
| Model | What the cited material establishes | How to use that information |
|---|---|---|
| EarFun Wave Pro X | Tom’s Guide lists dual 40 mm DLC and 10 mm LCP drivers, Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint, USB-C and 3.5 mm connections, LDAC and aptX Lossless support, and up to 90 hours with ANC off or 50 hours with ANC on. Its review praises ANC, comfort, battery, app customization and vocal clarity, but criticizes muddy bass and harsh treble. | Consider it if its fit, ANC, features and sound suit you; treat runtime as a listed maximum. |
| EarFun Wave Pro | Tom’s Guide identifies it as the predecessor and lists its original retail price as $50 / £50 less than the Wave Pro X. Comparable performance details are not established in the cited material. | At a meaningful current discount, the older model may be worth investigating, but the price difference alone does not show which sounds or performs better. |
| Soundcore Space 2 | Named by Tom’s Guide in the same broad price discussion; comparable test results and specifications are not established here. | Compare current price and independent model-specific findings rather than assuming it beats the Wave Pro X. |
| JBL Live 670NC | Named by Tom’s Guide in the same broad price discussion; comparable test results and specifications are not established here. | Check its current price, fit and feature set against your needs. |
| JLab JBuds Lux ANC | Named as a lower-priced option in Tom’s Guide’s discussion; a controlled comparison is not established here. | It may merit consideration when spending less is the priority, but the cited material does not establish equivalent performance. |
| CMF by Nothing Headphone Pro | Named as a lower-priced option in Tom’s Guide’s discussion; a controlled comparison is not established here. | Check current pricing and model-specific testing before choosing it on price alone. |
Current retail prices, availability and competitor lineups can change by region. Compare prices where you shop and weigh sound quality, ANC, comfort, battery, connectivity and controls for your own use rather than treating this list as a lab ranking.
Who should choose the Wave Pro X?
- It may fit you if you value ANC, comfort, long stated battery life, customization and vocal clarity, and the reviewed sound flaws are not deal-breakers for you.
- Look more carefully at alternatives if you prioritize tightly defined bass or smooth treble, or if a rival offers a better fit or price for your region.
- Compare it with the Wave Pro if the older model is substantially cheaper, but do not assume the launch-price gap predicts the current value or performance difference.
Availability and manufacturer claims
EarFun announced the Wave Pro X on September 3, 2026, at $129.99 and said it was available through its website and Amazon store. Its launch announcement described “reference-grade sound,” but that is manufacturer marketing language, not an independent test result. EarFun’s IFA page also advertises Bluetooth 6.0, Auracast, multipoint and USB/AUX support. These are manufacturer-listed features; verify regional availability and device compatibility before buying.
