Sony WF-1000XM6 is the best-supported all-around pick for calls in the current independent roundups: SoundGuys and RTINGS both identify it as a leading tested option. AirPods Pro 3 are a stronger fit for many iPhone users, while Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) are a premium alternative with a caveat about noise rejection. These are evidence-led recommendations, not a five-way ranking from one lab test.
How to choose earbuds with a good microphone
A useful call microphone has to make your voice clear to someone listening—not merely sound good in a music review. Consider the situations you use most:
- Quiet rooms: Voice clarity in a controlled setting is a useful baseline, but does not predict how well the earbuds handle traffic or other voices.
- Busy places and wind: Noise handling matters if you take calls outdoors or in crowded spaces. A microphone may suppress background sound while also affecting how your voice comes through.
- Your device and app: Microphone behavior can vary with the phone or computer and the calling or recording app. A result recorded on one setup is not a guarantee for another.
- Fit and comfort: A secure, comfortable fit matters for long calls and daily use, even though it cannot by itself establish microphone performance.
- Price and availability: Check current local stock, generation, and price before buying; these vary by region and over time.
Independent microphone results are most useful when you know the test conditions. SoundGuys, for example, recorded its AirPods Pro 3 sample with the earbuds paired to an iPhone 15 Pro using Voice Memos. That is informative for that setup, not a universal prediction for every platform or app.

Sony WF-1000XM6: best-supported overall call pick
Sony’s WF-1000XM6 is the clearest overall recommendation in the current evidence. SoundGuys’ call-focused roundup, updated February 12, 2026, names it the overall call pick and describes microphone samples recorded in varied conditions. RTINGS’ phone-call roundup, updated February 10, 2026, and its separate 2026 microphone roundup also identify it as a leading tested option.
#1 Best Overall
- Powerful Bass: soundcore P20i true wireless earbuds have oversized 10mm drivers that deliver powerful sound with boosted bass so you can lose yourself in your favorite songs.
- Personalized Listening Experience: Use the soundcore app to customize the controls and choose from 22 EQ presets. With "Find My Earbuds", a lost earbud can emit noise to help you locate it.
- Long Playtime, Fast Charging: Get 10 hours of battery life on a single charge with a case that extends it to 30 hours. If P20i true wireless earbuds are low on power, a quick 10-minute charge will give you 2 hours of playtime.
- Portable On-the-Go Design: soundcore P20i true wireless earbuds and the charging case are compact and lightweight with a lanyard attached. It's small enough to slip in your pocket, or clip on your bag or keys–so you never worry about space.
- AI-Enhanced Clear Calls: 2 built-in mics and an AI algorithm work together to pick up your voice so that you never have to shout over the phone.
That agreement makes the Sony the strongest starting point if you want one wireless model to investigate for calls. It does not establish that it will outperform every competitor in every setting: the available sources do not provide a single, matched five-model test across quiet rooms, wind, busy backgrounds, iPhone, and Android. Confirm the exact model and local availability before purchase.
Apple AirPods Pro 3: best considered for iPhone users
SoundGuys describes the AirPods Pro 3’s quiet-room voice sample positively. Its test paired the earbuds with an iPhone 15 Pro and recorded through Voice Memos, so treat that result as specific to the tested setup.
Rank #2
- JBL Deep Bass Sound: Get the most from your mixes with high-quality audio from secure, reliable earbuds with 8mm drivers featuring JBL Deep Bass Sound
- Comfortable fit: The ergonomic, stick-closed design of the JBL Vibe Beam fits so comfortably you may forget you're wearing them. The closed design excludes external sounds, enhancing the bass performance
- Up to 32 (8h + 24h) hours of battery life and speed charging: With 8 hours of battery life in the earbuds and 24 in the case, the JBL Vibe Beam provide all-day audio. When you need more power, you can speed charge an extra two hours in just 10 minutes.
- Hands-free calls with VoiceAware: When you're making hands-free stereo calls on the go, VoiceAware lets you balance how much of your own voice you hear while talking with others
- Water and dust resistant: From the beach to the bike trail, the IP54-certified earbuds and IPX2 charging case are water and dust resistant for all-day experiences
Comparative coverage from SoundGuys and RTINGS says Apple’s microphone system is optimized for iOS. That makes AirPods Pro 3 a credible choice for iPhone-centered use, but not a default recommendation for every Android phone or Windows PC. In RTINGS’ comparison, Bose’s microphone sounds somewhat better on Android and PCs; that is reviewer evidence from a comparison, not a rule that applies to every device, app, or environment.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen): premium alternative with a noise-handling caveat
Bose’s second-generation QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are a premium option with microphone-specific testing, but SoundGuys’ July 17, 2025 review cautions that noise rejection may not meet expectations. If you often call from traffic, wind, or other noisy places, weigh that finding rather than assuming product claims guarantee clear speech in those conditions.
Rank #3

The available evidence supports including Bose in the premium comparison; it does not establish a directly comparable overall microphone ranking against the Sony and Apple picks.
Technics EAH-AZ100: notable, but not a proven microphone winner here
RTINGS includes the Technics EAH-AZ100 as a notable option in its 2026 call roundup. The available evidence does not establish a precise microphone ranking or provide enough detail to recommend it over the better-supported call picks. Consider it a model to investigate rather than a verified top microphone choice.
Rank #4

And you can track down your AirPods and Charging Case with the Find My app.*
Wired earbuds with an in-line microphone: consider them if calls come first
If call quality matters more to you than wireless convenience, wired earbuds with an in-line mic are worth considering. RTINGS recommends the category for call-first buyers, but the evidence here does not identify a specific wired model to recommend. Check the connector and compatibility with your phone or computer, and look for microphone samples or testing on the devices and in the environments you actually use.
Why this is not a definitive five-earbud ranking
The current sources use different review contexts, and not every candidate has microphone testing represented in the same way. A roundup pick, a sample recorded in a quiet room, and a comparative platform test do not form a controlled head-to-head result. The evidence most consistently supports Sony as a call-focused candidate; it supports discussing AirPods in an Apple-device context and Bose with a noise-rejection qualification. It does not justify assigning all five options a universal first-to-fifth order.
Your results can differ with the connected device, fit and seal, background noise, and the call or recording app. When possible, try a returnable pair on your own phone or computer and test a short call in both a quiet room and your usual noisy setting.
