E-commerce firms sold goods worth around Rs 24,000 crore during the first two days of India’s 2026 festive-season sales, according to an estimate by Redseer reported by PTI. The report says higher order volumes drove the result, mobile phones led sales by value, and quick-commerce arms recorded four to five times their usual daily gross merchandise value (GMV).
What the Rs 24,000 crore estimate covers
The figure is an estimate attributed to Redseer, not an independently audited sales total. PTI’s October 11, 2026 report excerpt describes sales in the first two days of a festive sale, but does not give the precise dates, name the platforms included, explain the calculation method, or specify the comparison year. The term “goods sold” should therefore be read as the report’s description of the estimate, not as a fully defined measure that can be directly compared with every other festive-sales figure.
Without those details, the amount does not establish a year-on-year growth rate or show how much each marketplace contributed. It is also not a full-season total.

More orders contributed to the result
Redseer attributed the strong total to increased order volumes. The report excerpt does not quantify the number of orders or say how much of the estimate came from more orders rather than changes in average order value.

Mobile phones led by sales value
Mobile phones were the largest category by sales value, according to the report. It does not provide their share of the Rs 24,000 crore estimate, so the category’s lead should not be converted into a percentage or treated as a measure of its share of orders.
Quick commerce saw a sharp uplift against its usual daily business
Redseer said quick-commerce arms recorded four to five times their business-as-usual daily GMV. This is a comparison with a usual daily baseline, not a statement that quick commerce accounted for four to five times as much of total festive e-commerce sales. The report excerpt does not name the services or explain how the baseline was calculated.

How this compares with earlier festive-sale reports
Earlier Redseer figures describe different periods and measures, so they provide context rather than a direct trend line for the 2026 estimate.

Other 2022 coverage, citing Redseer, estimated that 5–5.5 crore shoppers bought something during the first four days of Amazon and Flipkart sale events. That shopper count covers a different year and window; it does not indicate how many people bought during the current sale.

What the headline does—and does not—tell shoppers
The estimate signals a high-value start to the festive shopping period, with phones leading by value and quick commerce rising sharply relative to its usual daily GMV. It does not identify winning phone models, prices, discounts, or the share of sales attributable to any one platform. Nor does a large market-wide total by itself establish that a particular deal is good value: shoppers still need to compare the final price, warranty, seller, and return terms for the item they intend to buy.
