The Dusk & Dawn Essential MK2 is an Australian-made, made-to-order pocket-spring mattress with three named firmness choices and a 100-night comfort guarantee, according to its manufacturer. Its current specifications and purchase terms should not be confused with CHOICE’s public listing for a discontinued Dusk & Dawn Essential model.
This guide focuses on the current MK2’s stated construction, size and feel options, guarantee, and the limits of the publicly available independent-test information.
What the current Essential MK2 is
Dusk & Dawn describes the Essential MK2 as tailor-made to order in Australia. Its product page lists a five-zone system of individually encased pocket springs, gel-infused Elasta-Gel comfort foam, high-density/high-resilience comfort foam, a breathable mesh gusset, and firmer perimeter coils. The manufacturer says the spring design is intended to contour to the body and reduce partner disturbance; these are design claims, not a guarantee of a particular sleep outcome. See the manufacturer’s current product page.

Which firmness should you choose?
The manufacturer lists three standard feels. Its numbers are Dusk & Dawn’s own scale, not a universal firmness measurement.
| Option | Manufacturer’s firmness rating | Useful context |
|---|---|---|
| Plush | 3–4 | One of the listed standard choices. |
| Comfy Medium | 5–6 | Dusk & Dawn calls this its most popular feel. |
| Firm Support | 7–8 | One of the listed standard choices. |
The product page says buyers can request soft, ultra-plush, or extra-firm in the order notes, with extra production time. Confirm that the requested feel is available for your order and ask how it affects the comfort guarantee before buying.

How the 100-night comfort guarantee works
Dusk & Dawn describes a 100-night comfort guarantee. If the buyer is dissatisfied within the first 100 nights, the company says it will collect the mattress, adjust the comfort layer and return it free of charge. If the changed feel is still unsuitable after a further 30 nights, it says it will refund the purchase. Who should consider the Essential MK2?
- It may suit you if you want a made-to-order spring-and-foam mattress, need a choice of manufacturer-described firmness levels, and value a comfort-adjustment process before a possible refund.
- Look more closely before ordering if you need independent, publicly accessible test scores for the current model, have tight access or handling constraints, or require certainty about a custom feel, delivery date or regional charge. Confirm those details directly with the manufacturer.
