There is no single paperback ISBN for Dungeon Crawler Carl across all markets. Choose by region and imprint, then match the ISBN—not just the book title—to the listing. The publisher listings identify one US Ace paperback and two UK paperbacks from different imprints; they have different ISBNs, publication dates, page counts, dimensions, and listed prices.

If you are searching “Which Dungeon Crawler Carl paperback should I buy?” the short answer is to select the specific market and edition first. The US Ace paperback is ISBN 9780593820254. The UK listings are Michael Joseph paperback ISBN 9780241816264 and Penguin paperback ISBN 9781405989411. A matching title is not enough: check the ISBN and format on the listing before placing an order.

Which Dungeon Crawler Carl paperback should you buy?

Start with the market you want, then check the ISBN on the product page before ordering. For the US Ace paperback, the ISBN is 9780593820254. UK publisher listings identify two other paperbacks: the Michael Joseph edition, ISBN 9780241816264, and the Penguin edition, ISBN 9781405989411. These are separate listings, not interchangeable ISBNs for one universal paperback.

Paperback listing ISBN Imprint and market Publisher publication date Pages Publisher-listed price Dimensions and confirmed content
US paperback 9780593820254 Ace / US December 30, 2025 480 $20.00 5-1/2 × 8-1/4 inches; includes part one of “Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret.”
UK paperback 9780241816264 Michael Joseph / UK 4 December 2025 464 £22.00 242 × 165 mm.
UK paperback 9781405989411 Penguin / UK 1 October 2026 480 £10.99 197 × 129 mm.

These details come from the respective publisher product listings: Penguin Random House for the US Ace edition and Penguin Books UK for the Michael Joseph and Penguin editions. The UK dates are written in day-month-year order. A price listed by a publisher is not a promise that every bookseller currently charges that amount.

The publisher metadata gives you several ways to catch a mismatch. The ISBN identifies the listing most directly; imprint and market provide a second check; then compare publication date, page count, and dimensions. The US and October 2026 UK listings each show 480 pages, but that shared page count does not make their editions identical. Their ISBNs, imprints, markets, dimensions, and listed prices differ. Likewise, both UK listings are paperbacks, but their 464- versus 480-page listings and different measurements make it especially important to use the ISBN rather than the format label alone.

Choose the US Ace listing if that is the market and product you intend to buy, particularly if you want the bonus described on its US publisher page. For a UK listing, decide whether you mean the Michael Joseph ISBN or the Penguin ISBN. The listed prices are $20.00, £22.00, and £10.99 respectively, but they are publisher-listed local prices, not a direct value ranking. Currency, market, retailer pricing, stock, and the dates of the listings all matter; the prices alone do not tell you that two copies are equivalent or that one is a better purchase.

How to identify the exact edition in a listing

Paperback alone is not enough to identify the copy. A seller may use the same title for multiple ISBNs, and a cover image by itself does not establish which edition or printing is being sold. Use the product details as a set, with the ISBN as the clearest identifier.

  1. Decide on the market. If you specifically want the US listing, look for the Ace imprint; for the UK publisher listings, look for Michael Joseph or Penguin. This choice helps you interpret the price and publication date as well as the ISBN.
  2. Match the full ISBN. Compare all 13 digits in the listing against the ISBN for the edition you want. Do not rely on a shortened number, title-only search result, or generic paperback label. A single-digit discrepancy means the listing does not match the identifier you selected, so verify it before buying.
  3. Confirm the format. The cited product pages identify these as paperbacks. Check the format field rather than assuming a result is a paperback because its cover image looks like one. Search results and marketplace entries can mix formats or editions under similar title wording.
  4. Check supporting metadata. Publication date, page count, dimensions, imprint, and listed price should broadly align with the intended publisher listing. Differences in one field may reflect a separate edition or a seller error, so check the ISBN again.
  5. Inspect the cover image if appearance matters. Verify that the listing shows the design you want, but treat the ISBN and format as stronger identification than the image alone. If a cover is central to your choice, make sure the image represents the copy that will actually ship.
  6. Use the ISBN in a second check. If a bookseller search page shows several formats or editions, open the individual product page and compare its ISBN with the publisher listing. Do not assume the first result is the intended edition just because the title and author match.

For an in-person purchase, compare the ISBN shown on the physical copy with the number you selected online. If the seller’s listing or the copy itself does not provide enough information to establish the edition, ask the seller to confirm the ISBN before buying. For a marketplace listing, save or note the exact ISBN you want before messaging the seller; that avoids relying on vague descriptions such as “new paperback,” “trade edition,” or “UK cover.”

Read a product page as a combination of fields rather than treating any one field besides the ISBN as conclusive. A date can distinguish the publisher records in this guide, but it is not proof of a first printing. A page count is useful corroboration, yet two different listed editions both have 480 pages. Dimensions help separate the 197 × 129 mm UK Penguin listing from the 242 × 165 mm UK Michael Joseph listing, but a seller’s measurements can be omitted or entered incorrectly. If the fields conflict, ask for confirmation instead of guessing from the cover or price.

Are there different paperback covers?

There is enough edition history to make cover differences a reasonable question, but not enough evidence here to provide an exhaustive catalog of every paperback cover. A secondary collector guide discusses older self-published paperbacks as well as later trade editions and printing or cover context. That history helps explain why a used listing may not look like a current publisher product page, but it does not establish that any pictured cover is the only paperback cover—or that a particular copy is a first printing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use the cover as a preference check, not as proof of edition. If a particular design matters to you, compare the listing’s image with the physical copy the seller will ship, and confirm the ISBN and printing description. Publisher product pages establish the bibliographic details for their listed editions; they do not certify the printing or condition of an individual copy sold elsewhere.

There are two different questions that can get blurred together: “Does this cover look like the version I want?” and “Is this the edition identified by a specific ISBN?” The image can help with the first, while the ISBN and format answer the second. A seller may show a publisher image rather than a photograph of the copy in hand, and a cover image does not on its own verify the copy’s printing. When the precise design matters, ask the seller whether the image is representative or copy-specific and request photos of the actual book.

The US publisher listing is evidence for the US Ace ISBN and the content it describes; it is not a catalog of every older cover. The collector guide provides secondary historical context about self-published paperbacks and later trade editions, but should not override the ISBN and edition details on publisher pages. Treat a claim such as “original cover” or “first printing” as a seller claim that needs copy-level support, not as something established simply by the title, cover art, or an ISBN alone.

What the US paperback says about bonus material

The US Ace paperback listing says it contains bonus material exclusive to that print edition and names the included material as part one of the bonus story “Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret.” That is a specific claim about the US listing, not a safe assumption about every paperback. The publisher’s Penguin Random House listing describes the bonus material as “bonus material exclusive to this print edition” and identifies the named inclusion as part one of the story.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The publisher details for the two UK listings do not confirm that they include the same bonus, so do not choose a UK edition expecting it unless its own listing explicitly confirms it. Nor should the US listing’s wording be broadened into a claim that every print copy, every paperback ISBN, or every seller’s copy contains the same material. If bonus content is a deciding factor, match ISBN 9780593820254 and check the current US Ace product details; if buying one of the UK paperbacks, look for an explicit confirmation on that edition’s own product page.

“Part one” is also the scope of the confirmed statement. It does not establish that the entire bonus story is included, and the listing should not be paraphrased as promising more than it says. Keep the distinction clear: the publisher confirms part one for the US paperback listing; the UK metadata cited here does not make a corresponding bonus-content claim.

Choosing between the two UK listings

The two UK publisher entries have different imprints and ISBNs, and their listed physical specifications differ. The Michael Joseph listing is dated 4 December 2025 and has 464 pages with dimensions of 242 × 165 mm. The Penguin listing is dated 1 October 2026 and has 480 pages with dimensions of 197 × 129 mm. Their publisher-listed prices are £22.00 and £10.99, respectively. These are publisher listing details, not a guarantee of current retailer price or stock.

If you want a specific one, use its ISBN rather than interpreting the lower listed price, page count, or cover as proof that it is the same edition in a different shop. The publisher records do not explain the reason for the differences between these entries. In particular, the page counts and dimensions alone do not establish what text, bonus material, or printing distinctions account for them.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The October 2026 date is later than the Michael Joseph listing’s December 2025 date, so the Penguin page is a distinct, later-dated product listing. That chronology is useful for identifying what a seller means when they name one of these entries, but it does not by itself establish why the specifications or listed price differ. Do not infer that the later listing is a revised text, a reprint with a particular change, or a replacement for the earlier one unless its publisher description says so.

The physical measurements are also quite different: 242 × 165 mm for the Michael Joseph listing and 197 × 129 mm for the Penguin listing. They can help you recognize which product page you are viewing and may matter if you have a size preference. They are not evidence of a difference in story content. Likewise, 464 versus 480 pages is a publisher-listed specification, not enough information to determine the reason for the count. If your choice depends on contents, look for edition-specific publisher statements rather than trying to derive an answer from page count, price, or trim size.

For a buyer who only wants a particular UK ISBN, the decision is straightforward: find the right imprint and match the 13-digit number. For someone comparing cost, use the live retailer price at checkout rather than treating £22.00 and £10.99 as guaranteed current amounts. Those values are the prices shown in the publisher listings, and publisher or retailer prices can change. They are UK prices and should not be compared directly with the US $20.00 listing without accounting for market and currency context.

Buying an older or collectible paperback

Older self-published copies can appear alongside later trade editions in collector and resale listings. Because a collector description is secondary information, use it for historical context rather than as a substitute for publisher bibliographic records. An individual seller’s description also cannot be verified from the publisher’s current product listing.

  • Ask for the ISBN. A title and cover description may not distinguish older copies from later editions. If the copy does not have an ISBN or the seller cannot provide it, do not assume it matches one of the three publisher listings above.
  • Ask what the seller means by “edition” or “printing.” Those terms can describe different things. Do not treat an unsubstantiated first-printing claim as confirmed.
  • Request copy-specific details when condition or collectability matters. Confirm that the seller’s description and photos refer to the exact copy being sold. A generic listing image does not establish the state of an individual book.
  • Separate bibliographic identity from condition. A matching ISBN can help identify the edition, but it does not certify the copy’s condition or whether it is a particular printing.
  • Compare the seller’s claims with the evidence offered. A cover photograph can show appearance, while an ISBN can identify a product record; neither alone verifies every claim about an individual copy’s printing history or condition.

The current publisher pages identify their listed editions; they do not authenticate a seller’s individual used copy or establish a complete history of cover variants. The collector guide is useful for orientation on older self-published paperbacks and later trade editions, but it is secondary context and its retailer coverage or edition details can change. For current bibliographic identification, start with official publisher records; for a collectible purchase, seek evidence about the actual copy.

Keep your expectations proportional to what the listing can prove. If you want a readable copy of the novel, the priority is the right format and ISBN. If the printing itself is the point of the purchase, ask the seller to show the relevant copy-level details and explain the terminology they use. Do not pay a premium simply because a listing uses a collector label that is not substantiated by photographs or other copy-specific information.

Quick decision guide

  • Want the US Ace listing and its publisher-confirmed bonus? Match ISBN 9780593820254 and verify the paperback format. The US publisher lists 480 pages, dimensions of 5-1/2 × 8-1/4 inches, a December 30, 2025 publication date, and a $20.00 price.
  • Want the December 2025 UK Michael Joseph listing? Match ISBN 9780241816264. Penguin Books UK lists 464 pages, dimensions of 242 × 165 mm, and a £22.00 price.
  • Want the October 2026 UK Penguin listing? Match ISBN 9781405989411. Penguin Books UK lists 480 pages, dimensions of 197 × 129 mm, and a £10.99 price.
  • Want a particular cover or a collectible printing? Confirm the pictured or photographed copy, ISBN, seller’s printing claim, and condition rather than relying on the title alone.
  • Unsure what a shop means by paperback? Open the specific product page and verify format, imprint, and full ISBN rather than relying on a general search result.
  • Comparing a US and UK listing? Treat them as separate market listings and use each publisher’s local price and specifications; do not assume that matching page counts mean matching editions.

Dungeon Crawler Carl follows Coast Guard veteran Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they face an alien invasion and a trap-filled dungeon staged as an intergalactic reality show. The publisher classifies the book in science fiction and fantasy. That shared title and premise do not make the paperback listings the same product: use the ISBN to get the edition you intend.

What to check before you pay

Use this final check to keep the choice practical. First, decide which named listing you are looking for: US Ace, UK Michael Joseph, or UK Penguin. Second, compare the complete ISBN with the product page rather than stopping at a title match. Third, check that the format field says paperback. Fourth, compare at least one additional identifier—imprint, date, page count, or dimensions—to catch a mismatched or incomplete seller entry. Finally, decide whether you care about a particular pictured cover, bonus material, or a collectible printing, because each requires a different kind of confirmation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a buyer focused on the US bonus, the key is the US Ace listing, ISBN 9780593820254, whose publisher page confirms part one of “Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret.” For a buyer focused on UK availability, the key is choosing between ISBN 9780241816264 and ISBN 9781405989411 rather than treating “UK paperback” as a single identifier. For a buyer focused on a cover or a collectible copy, inspect the seller’s actual item and the seller’s specific claims. These priorities should not be conflated: the publisher metadata identifies product listings, while a seller must provide copy-specific evidence for condition and printing.

Publisher product prices and stock are subject to change. Check the retailer’s current product page before purchase, and if the listing’s ISBN, format, or photograph conflicts with what you expect, pause and confirm with the seller. That extra check is more reliable than guessing from a cover, a low price, or a familiar title.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ISBN for the US Dungeon Crawler Carl paperback?

The US Ace paperback is ISBN 9780593820254. Penguin Random House lists it as a 480-page paperback published December 30, 2025, with dimensions of 5-1/2 × 8-1/4 inches and a publisher-listed price of $20.00.

What are the UK paperback ISBNs?

Penguin Books UK lists two: Michael Joseph paperback ISBN 9780241816264, published 4 December 2025, and Penguin paperback ISBN 9781405989411, published 1 October 2026. They are separate listings with different page counts, dimensions, and publisher-listed prices.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are there different Dungeon Crawler Carl paperback covers?

Older self-published paperbacks and later trade editions are discussed in a secondary collector guide, but the publisher listings do not provide an exhaustive catalog of cover variants. Check the seller’s pictured or actual copy if a particular design matters, and use the ISBN and format to identify the edition.

Does every paperback include “Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret”?

No such general claim is confirmed. The US Ace listing, ISBN 9780593820254, says it includes part one of the bonus story. The cited UK publisher listings do not confirm the same bonus, so check the specific edition’s product page.

How do the two UK paperback listings differ?

The Michael Joseph listing, ISBN 9780241816264, is listed at 464 pages, 242 × 165 mm, and £22.00. The Penguin listing, ISBN 9781405989411, is listed at 480 pages, 197 × 129 mm, and £10.99. Those are publisher-listed specifications and prices; the pages do not explain the reason for the differences.

Does a matching ISBN prove that a used copy is a first printing or in good condition?

No. An ISBN helps identify a product listing but does not certify the printing or the condition of an individual copy. Ask for copy-specific photos and details if those factors matter, and treat an unsupported first-printing claim as unconfirmed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are the publisher-listed prices guaranteed at every bookstore?

No. The US listing shows $20.00, while the UK listings show £22.00 and £10.99. These are publisher-listed local prices; retailer prices and stock can change, so check the current seller listing before ordering.

The Bottom Line

Choose by market and imprint, then match the complete ISBN: 9780593820254 for the US Ace paperback, 9780241816264 for the UK Michael Joseph listing, or 9781405989411 for the UK Penguin listing. The US publisher confirms part one of “Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret” for its edition only. Use cover images as a preference check, not proof of edition or printing, and verify current price and copy condition with the seller.
