Der DualSense Edge bietet dieselben zentralen PS5-Controllerfunktionen wie der DualSense, ergänzt sie aber um rückseitige Tasten, anpassbare Eingabeeinstellungen, wechselbare Stickkappen und speicherbare Profile. Seine Stickmodule lassen sich austauschen. Wer diese Anpassungen nicht braucht, kommt mit dem Standard-DualSense aus.

Was die Edge-Zusätze im Gebrauch ermöglichen
Rücktasten und eigene Belegung
Beim Edge können Sie Tastenbelegungen anpassen und wichtige Befehle auf die rückseitigen Tasten legen. Das kann praktisch sein, wenn Sie bestimmte Aktionen ausführen möchten, ohne dafür die Daumen von den Sticks zu nehmen. Sony beschreibt die Möglichkeit, solche Konfigurationen zu speichern.

Sticks und Trigger abstimmen
Sie können die Stickempfindlichkeit sowie die Totzonen der Sticks und Trigger konfigurieren. Das erlaubt eine Anpassung an persönliche Vorlieben oder unterschiedliche Spiele. Die dokumentierten Einstellungen belegen jedoch keinen garantierten Wettbewerbsvorteil oder messbaren Leistungsgewinn.

Profile für verschiedene Spiele speichern
Der Edge kann mehrere Konfigurationen speichern, zwischen denen Sie im Spiel wechseln können. Das ist nützlich, wenn Sie etwa für verschiedene Spiele andere Tastenbelegungen oder Empfindlichkeitseinstellungen bevorzugen.
Stickkappen und Module wechseln
Der Edge wird mit drei Formen von Stickkappen unterstützt, die sich austauschen lassen. Bei einem defekten Stickmodul kann außerdem das Modul ersetzt werden. Das Ersatz-Stickmodul für DualSense Edge wird separat verkauft und ist laut PlayStation ausschließlich mit dem Edge kompatibel.

Beide Controller sind damit auf das entsprechende Spielerlebnis ausgelegt; die zusätzlichen Anpassungsmöglichkeiten sind der wesentliche Unterschied des Edge.
