As of October 13, 2026, du has demonstrated and field-tested U6GHz technology, but its public announcements do not establish that customers can subscribe to or use a live du U6GHz service. The UAE’s telecommunications regulator allocated 6 GHz for mobile use, and e& UAE announced a live commercial U6GHz network in September 2026. Those milestones do not amount to a du customer launch.
What du has announced—and what it has not
du’s public U6GHz announcements describe a demonstration, a field test, and participation in an industry commercialisation initiative. They do not announce a retail launch, identify an eligible du plan, publish a U6GHz coverage map, or confirm customer devices. That distinction matters: a network trial can show that equipment works under test conditions without making the service available to subscribers.

The clearest public customer-service announcement in the UAE timeline covered here came from e& UAE, not du. On September 29, 2026, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that e& UAE had announced live commercial U6GHz service. Its reported frequency range and peak throughput apply to e& UAE’s network and should not be attributed to du.

| Date | Announcement | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| November 29, 2024 | The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) announced an updated National Frequency Plan allocating the 600 MHz and 6 GHz bands for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT). | TDRA said operation of the new bands was expected to begin between 2025 and 2026. Allocation and an expected start window are not proof that a particular operator launched customer service. |
| February 26, 2025 | du demonstrated 5G-Advanced using Sub-3 GHz and U6GHz spectrum together. | du reported a peak data rate of 10.56 Gbps for the demonstration. This was a company-reported demonstration result, not a customer speed promise. du said Home Wireless users could benefit “in future,” not that U6GHz service was then available to them. |
| April 7, 2026 | SAMENA Council reported a UAE U6GHz commercialisation initiation at its Leaders’ Summit. Representatives from TDRA, SAMENA, Huawei, du, e&, GSMA, Nokia, HONOR, and Tozed affirmed commitment to the ecosystem. | The ceremony and commitment show participation in a broader effort, not a live du network. The release described plans for a commercial U6GHz network in 2026. |
| July 9, 2026 | du, Nokia, and MediaTek announced a regional first field test using a MediaTek M90 modem, Nokia commercial 5G baseband solutions, and a pre-commercial 6 GHz n104 radio with 200 MHz bandwidth. | du described the test as an evaluation of upper 6 GHz for future deployments. The named modem and radio were test equipment, not a retail compatibility list. |
| September 18, 2026 | du announced six-carrier aggregation on its commercial 5G-Advanced network. | du listed 3.6, 2.6, 2.1, 1.8 GHz, and 600 MHz among the spectrum bands in the announcement; it did not list U6GHz. This commercial 5G-Advanced milestone is not evidence of U6GHz customer service. |
| September 29, 2026 | WAM reported e& UAE’s announcement of live commercial U6GHz service. | WAM reported e& UAE’s deployed range as 6425–6775 MHz, or 350 MHz of continuous bandwidth, and its claimed peak single-user throughput as up to 10 Gbps downlink and 1 Gbps uplink. |
What U6GHz means for a customer
U6GHz refers to upper 6 GHz radio spectrum used for mobile IMT services. SAMENA Council’s April 2026 release describes the broad 6425–7125 MHz range—700 MHz continuously—as 3GPP band n104. That broad band should not be confused with the narrower 6425–6775 MHz range WAM reported for e& UAE’s deployment.
#1 Best Overall
- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
More spectrum can provide capacity for mobile networks, but a band allocation, a laboratory demonstration, or a field test does not tell a customer whether service is available at a particular address. Coverage, plan eligibility, and compatible customer equipment each need confirmation from the operator. No du announcement cited here supplies a U6GHz customer coverage map or identifies a phone or home gateway approved for du U6GHz service.
How to interpret the speed figures
The headline numbers describe different things and should not be treated as a head-to-head comparison:
Rank #2
- Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router - Up to 5400 Mbps WiFi for faster browsing, streaming, gaming and downloading, all at the same time(6 GHz: 2402 Mbps;5 GHz: 2402 Mbps;2.4 GHz: 574 Mbps)
- WiFi 6E Unleashed – The 6 GHz band brings more bandwidth, faster speeds, and near-zero latency; Enables more responsive gaming and video chatting
- Connect More Devices—True Tri-Band and OFDMA technology increase capacity by 4 times to enable simultaneous transmission to more devices
- Unique Design, More RAM, Better Processing - A unique housing design provides optimal heat dissipation, combined with a 1.0 GHz dual-core CPU and 512 MB High-Speed Memory, the AXE75 is designed for long-term reliability and performance.
- EasyMesh-compatible - Extend network range even more by adding EasyMesh-compatible routers, extenders, or wireless powerline adapters for a seamless, whole-home connection. Eliminate dead zones, drops, and lag as you move across your home.
- 10.56 Gbps: du’s reported peak result from its February 2025 demonstration combining Sub-3 GHz and U6GHz spectrum. It is not a stated speed for ordinary du customers.
- Up to 10 Gbps downlink and 1 Gbps uplink: SAMENA Council reported these as expectations from its technology-provider members for 5G-Advanced. They are estimates, not an independent measurement or a universal customer promise.
- Up to 10 Gbps downlink and 1 Gbps uplink: WAM reported these as e& UAE’s claimed peak single-user throughput on its commercial network. They are specific to e& UAE’s announcement, not du’s.
U6GHz is not the same as 6G
The announcements describe U6GHz as an advanced 5G or 5G-Advanced development that may contribute to future 6G readiness. TDRA’s roadmap sets out research, standards, and ecosystem work, with a target transition to 6G by 2030. U6GHz itself is not commercial 6G service.
What du customers should check before buying equipment
Do not infer compatibility from a device’s generic 5G label, or from support for Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7; those labels do not confirm support for du’s mobile U6GHz service. Before buying a phone or home gateway specifically for U6GHz, look for a du announcement that identifies the customer service, supported devices, and coverage or eligibility conditions. The trial hardware named in du’s field-test announcement does not establish retail-device support.
