There is no defensible best-value edition of Drova II: Torn Lands yet. As of 18 October 2026, the developer describes the game as being in pre-alpha, has not announced a release date, and has published neither prices nor edition contents. Buying decisions can only become meaningful after those details appear.
If you want to prepare now, the one documented storefront distinction is GOG’s DRM-free distribution with an optional client and offline installer. Steam, GOG, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch are announced targets, but performance, cross-save, cross-buy, physical availability and regional pricing are not yet specified.
What you can decide today
The rational choice today is to wait rather than preorder or reserve a particular SKU. The official Just2D announcement dated 15 October 2026 says, “We’re right now at a Pre-Alpha Stage. The game is in active development for PC and Consoles.” That wording describes an unfinished project, not a product with a locked launch package.
Because the commercial details are unpublished, any page claiming that a Standard, Deluxe or Collector’s edition is the best deal would be guessing. No such Drova II SKU has been announced. A useful buying guide therefore has two parts: identify the only confirmed difference now, then set up a checklist for comparing editions when the publisher posts the missing information.

Release status, date and price
Development stage
Just2D’s announcement places the sequel in pre-alpha and says development covers PC and consoles. Pre-alpha normally means core systems, content and technical targets can still change. It does not establish a launch window, final feature list or certification status.
Release date
No release date has been announced. SteamDB records the date as “To be announced,” while the GOG listing says “Coming soon.” Those labels are placeholders, not launch commitments. Treat countdowns, retailer listings or social-media guesses as unconfirmed unless Just2D publishes a dated announcement.
Price and edition contents
Neither Steam nor GOG currently shows a price for the sequel. There is also no published list of bonuses, expansion passes, soundtrack files, art books, early-access terms or upgrade paths. Regional launch prices, taxes and currency conversion therefore cannot be compared yet.
Confirmed platforms
The announced targets are Steam, GOG, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. “Announced” means these platforms are part of the current plan; it does not guarantee simultaneous release, identical performance or identical editions.

GOG versus Steam: the only documented PC difference
GOG’s product page states, “DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.” It also documents a fully offline installer; the Galaxy client is optional. This is the one concrete storefront advantage currently verifiable.

Choose GOG if an independently stored installer and the ability to play without activation are your highest priorities. Choose Steam only when its eventual feature set, price or ecosystem benefits matter more to you. Do not assume that either store will provide cross-save, cross-buy, mod support or identical update timing until the publisher documents those policies.
How to choose a platform when listings go live
Step 1: Confirm the exact product
Check that the listing is for Drova II: Torn Lands, not the first Drova or a soundtrack, demo or test branch. The title, developer and platform should match the official announcement.

Step 2: Record the complete launch package
Write down the base-game price in your currency, tax treatment, edition names, included downloadable content, preorder bonuses, early-access language and any upgrade fee. Save a copy of the store description because contents can change after launch.
Step 3: Compare ownership requirements
For PC, verify whether activation is required, whether an internet connection is needed after installation and whether an offline installer is supplied. For consoles, check whether the license is tied to an account, whether a disc contains the playable build and whether a download is required.
Step 4: Check technical targets
Look for platform-specific resolution and frame-rate targets, install size, supported control schemes, accessibility options and save-transfer rules. Do not infer these from the first game; the sequel’s specifications must be published separately.

Step 5: Check generation and device coverage
If you own more than one console generation, confirm whether one purchase includes both versions. The announced PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Xbox Series targets do not by themselves establish cross-generation rights.
Step 6: Compare physical and digital rights
For a cartridge or disc, determine whether it is complete on the medium, how much of the game must be downloaded and whether future updates are required. For digital editions, compare the ability to reinstall, transfer saves and access the game if a storefront client is unavailable.
Step 7: Recheck regional terms
Compare the final tax-inclusive price in your region, refund eligibility, language support and age rating. A lower headline price in another currency is not necessarily cheaper after conversion, tax or payment fees.
What is known about a physical release
There is no announced physical Drova II edition. The only documented precedent concerns the original Drova: an official announcement says Limited Run offered Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 physical editions, with pre-orders running in October–November 2025. That history shows that a physical program is possible, but it does not confirm a sequel cartridge or disc, a pre-order window, a quantity or a retailer.
Do not describe a future Switch or PS5 box as Standard, Deluxe or Collector’s until Just2D or an authorized publisher names a SKU. If a physical listing appears, verify who is publishing it, which region it serves, whether the medium contains the full game and whether the same content is available digitally.

Edition comparison framework
When multiple Drova II editions are announced, use one table rather than judging names alone. Record the following fields for every SKU:
- Base game: confirm that every edition includes the complete game for the platform you own.
- Additional content: list expansions, quests, cosmetics, soundtrack files, art books and other bonuses separately.
- Timing: note whether content is available at launch, later or only during a limited promotion.
- Upgrade path: check whether a lower edition can be upgraded by paying only the difference.
- Platform scope: establish whether a PC purchase works on both PC stores or whether console generations are bundled.
- Ownership model: distinguish a permanent license from subscription access, timed access or an early-access entitlement.
- Physical contents: for boxed versions, record cartridge/disc completeness, included codes and region restrictions.
- Resale: identify which value remains with a used physical copy and which bonuses are single-use codes.
A higher-priced edition is worthwhile only when its included content has value to you and the upgrade terms are clear. Cosmetic items, a soundtrack or a digital art book should not be treated as equivalent to a substantial expansion without a published description.
Buying now versus waiting
Why waiting is the low-risk option
With no date, price or SKU list, waiting preserves your ability to compare all announced versions. It also lets you see whether the last-generation versions launch alongside the current-generation versions and whether a physical edition appears.
When an early purchase could make sense
An early purchase may be reasonable only after a store posts a final price and clear terms that match your priorities—for example, a documented DRM-free offline installer on GOG or a physical release you specifically want to own. Read the exact product page before paying; an announcement of a platform is not an offer to sell a finished edition.

- Unpriced “wishlist” pages are not proof of a launch date or price.
- Retailer placeholders are not confirmation of a physical SKU.
- Leaked screenshots or database entries do not establish edition contents.
- Features from the first Drova do not automatically carry over to the sequel.

- Read the dated announcement and identify whether it changes development status, platforms or timing.
- Open the official Steam and GOG listings and record price, release date, edition names and system requirements.
- Check PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo storefronts for separate generation listings and physical information.
- Look for an explicit statement about DRM, offline play, account activation and installer availability.
- Check cross-save, cross-buy, Smart Delivery or upgrade language rather than assuming it.
- Compare regional prices after tax and currency conversion.
- For any box or cartridge, verify whether it is complete, code-based or download-dependent.
- Save the final terms and purchase from an authorized storefront.
Questions that should be answered before launch
The following unresolved points determine value more than an edition label:
- What is the launch date for each announced platform?
- Are PC and console versions released simultaneously?
- What are the regional prices and taxes?
- Does GOG’s DRM-free policy apply to every edition and future downloadable content?
- What DRM, launcher and online requirements apply on Steam?
- Are cloud saves, achievements, mods and controller features supported on each PC store?
- Do PS4 and PS5 share a license, and do Xbox One and Xbox Series share one?
- Is Nintendo Switch offered digitally, physically or both?
- Does a physical copy contain the complete game or require a large download?
- Are there Deluxe, Collector’s or upgrade editions, and exactly what do they include?
Bottom line for each type of buyer
You want the least restrictive PC ownership
Watch GOG first. Its current listing is the only source that explicitly promises DRM-free play, no activation or online connection, and an optional client with an offline installer. Wait for the final price and edition list before purchasing.
You prefer a platform ecosystem
Compare the eventual Steam feature list, price and save behavior with GOG’s terms. No sequel-specific Steam advantage is documented yet, so do not pay more for assumptions about cloud saves or achievements.

Wait for platform-specific performance, generation-bundle and upgrade information. The announced PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One and Switch targets do not establish identical versions or simultaneous availability.
You specifically want a box or cartridge
Monitor official announcements for a Drova II physical SKU. The original game’s 2025 Limited Run Switch and PS5 pre-orders are precedent only, not confirmation for the sequel.
