Short answer: Droid Tycoon documents trading with Cantina NPCs and merchants, not direct player-to-player trading. Co-op parties are faster for several jobs in update v1.33.0 because party members increase upgrade-chip and Droid Depot rewards. Fusion unlocks at Rebirth 3, always consumes exactly three droids, and follows strict recipe rules: mixed inputs are limited by the lowest-quality droid, while three identical droids can produce one copy at the next rarity. Rebirth keeps your droids but resets progress used for permanent enhancements.

The sections below explain what each system actually allows, how to avoid wasting rare ingredients, and how to read every named Fusion recipe.

Can you trade droids with another player?

There is no confirmed player-to-player trading system in the documented rules. The trading described for Droid Tycoon is between your character and Cantina NPCs or merchants. Those vendors can trade droids with you and offer other deals, according to a beginner guide summarized by PC Gamer on May 2, 2026.

That distinction matters because a vendor deal and a multiplayer trade window are different systems. The available documentation does not identify a player-trade button, menu, confirmation screen, item-lock rule, or player-to-player exchange limits. Until a developer source documents those controls, do not assume that another player can transfer a droid directly to you.

What to do when you want a specific droid

  • Check Cantina NPCs and merchants for their currently offered deals.
  • Treat a claim that a friend can send you a droid as unverified unless the game shows an official trade interface.
  • For Fusion-exclusive droids, plan around the exact recipe rather than expecting to obtain the output through a normal trade.

The named Fusion outputs listed later do not appear naturally on the Sandcrawler conveyor. They require their specified ingredients, so vendor availability and Fusion planning are separate parts of progression.

How much faster is co-op progression?

Version 1.33.0 added explicit Party Bonuses. The bonus is tied to other members of your party, so a solo run does not receive these multiplayer increases. The patch note describes three separate activities:

Activity Party bonus Condition or limit
Upgrade chips 20% more chips for each other party member Total bonus is capped at 100%
Scrap Station +50% Hit a party member’s Scrap Station
Droid Depot pickaxe work +20% for each other party member Those members must be actively hitting the same Droid Depot

Upgrade-chip example

The chip bonus scales by the number of teammates rather than being a single fixed party multiplier. With one other member, the documented increase is 20%; with two, it is 40%; with three, it is 60%. The calculation stops increasing once it reaches the 100% cap, so adding members beyond the cap does not create an unlimited chip multiplier.

Scrap Station and Droid Depot bonuses require coordination

The Scrap Station bonus is attached to hitting a party member’s station, not simply being in the same lobby. Likewise, the pickaxe bonus applies when other party members are actively hitting the same Droid Depot. Splitting up across separate depots or working alone at your own station will not meet the condition described in the patch note.

For a coordinated session, decide in advance who will work the same depot and whose Scrap Station will be targeted. This makes the bonuses practical rather than incidental: the chip increase helps general upgrading, while the station and depot bonuses reward players who perform the same task together.

What does rebirth reset, and do you lose your droids?

Rebirth resets progress used for permanent enhancements, but you keep all of your droids. It is therefore a reset of advancement requirements and enhancements, not an inventory wipe.

Later rebirths can require upgraded variants instead of an ordinary copy. The documented examples include Gold, Diamond, Rainbow, and other special versions. Before confirming a rebirth, inspect the required droid’s icon and reserve the exact variant requested. A droid with the right name but the wrong variant may not satisfy the requirement.

Why this matters before Fusion

Rebirth 3 is the gate for Fusion. If you are approaching that milestone, avoid selling or consuming a variant that a later rebirth requirement may request. The safe order is to verify the next rebirth requirement, set aside any required special version, and only then commit spare droids to a recipe.

When does Fusion unlock?

Fusion unlocks at Rebirth 3. Every Fusion consumes exactly three droids. The current guide lists 17 named Fusion-exclusive droids across the Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic tiers. These outputs do not spawn naturally on the Sandcrawler conveyor; each one requires its named recipe.

Two valid input patterns

  • Named recipe: Place the exact three droids specified for the target output.
  • Three identical droids: Place three copies of the same droid to produce one copy at the next rarity.

A mixed trio is not a free-form rarity experiment. Output quality is determined by the lowest-quality droid in the group. For example, two Rainbow inputs and one Diamond input produce a Diamond-quality result, because Diamond is the lowest quality present.

The Fusion machine arms only when the pedestals match a valid named recipe or the three-identical-copy pattern. If the set is invalid, the machine should not arm; do not pay for or surrender a combination that has not been recognized.

Complete Droid Tycoon Fusion recipe table

Use the table as a checklist. Quantities written before a name mean two copies of that droid; every row still uses three droids in total.

Mythic SRV-0 Ric-1200 + 2 × B1 Heavy
Mythic AXL-POD Ric + BDX Explorer + R7
Mythic LOW-MO 2 × A-LT + Loadlifter

Which ingredients should you reserve?

Some droids appear in more than one named recipe. Groundmech is used by SCRP-R and QIK-BIT. KX is used by RIV-3T and X-ONK. BDX Explorer appears in BTL-R and AXL-POD.

Those overlaps create an opportunity cost. If you fuse a Groundmech pair for QIK-BIT, you may no longer have the ingredient needed for SCRP-R; consuming KX or BDX Explorer has the same planning issue. Before committing a Fusion, scan the entire recipe table and decide which target has priority. This is especially important when you are collecting toward a Mythic output while still missing an Epic or Rare recipe.

Do not confuse a recipe with a rarity upgrade

The three-identical-droid pattern is separate from the named recipes. It gives one copy at the next rarity, while a named recipe creates its specified exclusive output. A trio that happens to share a name is not automatically interchangeable with a recipe that lists two copies plus a different droid.

How to use Fusion without wasting droids

  1. Confirm the rebirth gate. Make sure your profile has reached the Fusion unlock milestone before gathering a three-droid set for the machine.
  2. Check rebirth requirements first. Inspect the next requirement and set aside any Gold, Diamond, Rainbow, or other special variant that could be needed.
  3. Choose the target output. Find the desired name and tier in the recipe table rather than guessing from visual similarity.
  4. Count the inputs. Gather exactly the listed copies. A row with “2 ×” still needs a third, different droid unless it is the separate identical-copy upgrade pattern.
  5. Review shared ingredients. Check whether Groundmech, KX, BDX Explorer, or another ingredient is needed by a second target you value more.
  6. Inspect rarity quality. For mixed inputs, identify the lowest-quality droid. Do not add a lower-quality copy expecting Rainbow or another higher-quality output.
  7. Place the trio and wait for recognition. Proceed only when the pedestals match a named recipe or the three-identical pattern and the machine arms.
  8. Confirm the result. Remember that the operation consumes all three inputs; remove a droid if the displayed combination is not the one you intended.

Solo or party: which progression path fits your goal?

Goal More suitable approach Reason
Earn upgrade chips efficiently Coordinate a party Each other party member adds 20%, up to the documented 100% cap.
Work a shared Droid Depot Coordinate a party at one depot The pickaxe bonus requires other members to hit that same depot.
Use a Scrap Station bonus Hit a party member’s station The documented station bonus is tied to that condition.
Obtain a named exclusive droid Collect and reserve exact recipe inputs The named outputs do not appear naturally on the Sandcrawler conveyor.
Upgrade three copies of one droid Use the identical-copy pattern Three identical droids produce one copy at the next rarity.
Protect future options Reserve recurring ingredients Groundmech, KX, and BDX Explorer occur in multiple recipes.

Party play improves the resource-gathering activities covered by the v1.33.0 bonuses, but it does not replace recipe planning. You still need the correct droid names, copies, and quality combinations for Fusion, whether those ingredients were collected solo or with teammates.

Common mistakes and the correct fix

“I can see another player, so I should be able to trade.”

Presence in the same session does not establish a direct trade feature. Use documented Cantina and merchant deals, and wait for an official player-trade interface before treating direct exchanges as supported.

“Any three high-rarity droids should make a high-rarity result.”

Mixed-input quality is constrained by the lowest-quality member. Replace the lower-quality droid or accept that the output will be capped at that level.

“The machine accepted my three droids, so it must be a named recipe.”

Check the displayed pattern. Three identical copies form a valid rarity-upgrade pattern, but that is different from a named output such as WHL-EX, FUS-3, or LOW-MO.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“Rebirth deleted my collection.”

Rebirth resets permanent-enhancement progress while retaining your droids. The risk is instead using or overlooking the special variant required for a higher rebirth.

“I fused an ingredient and now another recipe is impossible.”

Review recurring ingredients before every Fusion. A consumed Groundmech, KX, or BDX Explorer can remove the option to complete a different recipe until you obtain another copy.
