Dressmaker’s Build 443 update, reported on October 14, 2026, expands the campaign-unlocked wardrobe with new skirt silhouettes, cottons, laces, silks and decorative trims. It also overhauls trim placement, mannequin controls, accessibility options and several stability problems. Because the patch changes how color and fabric requirements are calculated, commission scores for older dresses can display differently after updating.
What Build 443 adds
Build 443 is primarily a tutorial, controls, user-experience and accessibility patch, but its campaign-gated content gives players more ways to design garments. The additions fall into four practical groups: silhouettes, fabrics and lace, named silks, and jewelry or beaded trims.
New skirt silhouettes
- Chrysanthemum skirt: a new floral-inspired shape.
- Less-poofy chrysanthemum variant: a reduced-volume version for a subtler outline.
- Longer pencil-skirt variant: an extended, narrower option for outfits that need a straighter profile.
The update does not publish an authoritative before-and-after total for all skirt options, so these named additions are more reliable than an invented item count.
New cottons, lace and silks
Three cotton materials are now available: Autumnal Vine Border Print Cotton, Spring Vine Border Print Cotton and Taupe Cotton. Lace choices expand with Silver Lace and Pastel Pink Lace.

Four named shot or gradient silks add more deliberate color direction: Burning Forest, Golden Dawn, Lavender Field and Snowflake Gradient Silks. Their names indicate distinct palettes or gradient treatments, but the update does not provide a technical color chart.
New trims and jewelry
Build 443 adds Silver Clasp, Silver Narcissus Chain, Silver Twin Souls Chain, Black Dagger Beaded Trim and Widow’s Lace Trim. These pieces can be combined with the revised placement tools, making them useful for both small accents and more elaborate commission designs.

Controls that make decorating faster
The patch addresses the fiddly parts of arranging accessories and trims rather than simply adding catalog items.
Trim placement and duplication
- Fast trim placement reduces the number of actions needed to attach decoration.
- Negative trim heights let a trim sit below the previous height range, which helps with layered or recessed details.
- Trim duplication makes repeated motifs quicker to build.
- Default trim tilt offsets are fixed. Existing trims that were manually adjusted may therefore sit at a slightly different angle after the update.
Mannequin, accessory and camera controls
You can now drag to rotate the mannequin directly. Accessory movement and selection have been refined, and a dedicated accessory rotation gizmo gives rotation a more explicit control target. Camera controls are smoother, which should make it easier to inspect seams, hems and decorations from different angles.

Cutting-room and workflow improvements
Cutting-room controls are clearer, tooltips explain tools more effectively, and off-rack deletion is available when removing a pre-made dress from the rack. The sketchbook also gains a randomize button for quickly generating a starting concept when you do not want to arrange every element manually.
Accessibility and technical fixes
Build 443 adds less-animation and bloom options. These settings can reduce motion and visual effects for players who find constant animation or bright bloom distracting.

The patch also targets flashing, clipping, animation errors, broken trims, crashes and stutters. The update report does not claim that every possible issue is eliminated, so persistent problems should still be treated as bugs rather than expected behavior.
Will old dress scores change?
Yes, the patch can change how existing commission results are displayed. Build 443 adjusts the “fudging” used for color and fabric requirements: small components such as collars and sleeves now receive a boost and contribute more meaningfully to those requirements. A dress that was already completed is not necessarily being rebuilt, but its displayed score can differ because the evaluation rules now give those components more weight.

Default trim tilt offsets were also corrected. As a result, some older designs with adjusted trims may appear slightly different in placement or angle. If a favorite dress matters to you, inspect it after installing the patch and make any needed positioning corrections before relying on its current presentation.
How the update fits Dressmaker’s core loop
Dressmaker launched on Steam on September 21, 2026. Developed by Cozy Lives and published by Free Lives, it centers on choosing fabric, arranging and cutting patterns, sewing garments, decorating them and serving townsfolk. Players can also sell completed pre-made dresses off the rack.
Steam listed a 98% positive English rating from 10,314 reviews when accessed on October 14, 2026. That figure describes the store’s review snapshot on that date, not a permanent score.

What to do after installing Build 443
- Progress through the campaign far enough to unlock the new skirt, material and trim content; the additions are not presented as universally available from the start.
- Open an existing design and check collars, sleeves and other small components if its color or fabric score is important.
- Inspect manually tilted trims because corrected default offsets may have changed their apparent position.
- Try drag-to-rotate mannequin control, the accessory rotation gizmo and negative trim heights on a test garment before rebuilding a major commission.
- Enable less animation or reduced bloom in the accessibility settings if motion or bright effects interfere with play.
- Use the clearer cutting-room controls, off-rack deletion and sketchbook randomize function to speed up experimentation.
Bottom line for returning players
Build 443 is more than a small content drop: it adds three skirt choices, nine named fabric or lace materials, five decorative trims and a broad set of editing improvements. The most important caveat is scoring and presentation: revised requirement weighting can alter old commission displays, while fixed trim offsets can move previously adjusted decorations slightly. New designs should benefit immediately from faster placement, better rotation and more flexible layering.
