If Dragon’s Dogma 2 relic farming seems broken, first identify what you are farming. Relic Appraisal in the Dark Arisen expansion is different from collecting ordinary materials from enemies. Relic results are weighted toward the Arisen’s vocation and the main Pawn’s vocation, and certain buffs can narrow the possible results. An enemy that fails to reappear is a separate spawn problem. The practical fix is therefore a diagnosis: target the correct vocation and buff for appraisal, verify expansion access, update and restart the game for a possible respawn fault, and protect your save before testing risky encounters.

Identify which kind of farming is failing
The phrase “relic farming not working” covers several different symptoms. Choosing the wrong fix can waste time or cause you to overwrite a useful save. Use the symptom that matches your game:

These categories can overlap. For example, an expansion-access issue can look like a failed relic table, while an enemy-respawn issue can be mistaken for a bad drop rate. Test one variable at a time and record what changed.

How Dark Arisen Relic Appraisal actually narrows results
Director Kinoshita explained in an AUTOMATON WEST interview that the game makes relics associated with weapons corresponding to the player’s vocation and the main Pawn’s vocation more likely to appear. The system is weighted, not guaranteed: changing vocation does not force a particular item on the next appraisal.
The same interview describes a separate buff system that narrows results. Kinoshita said, “There is also a system in the game that allows players to apply buffs to narrow down the results.” A Fighter-oriented example was given: a buff can make a Fighter’s sword easier to obtain. That is a filtering aid, not a published percentage or a promise that every appraisal will return the targeted sword.
Relic levels are also designed around player progression and map depth. Earlier areas generally align with earlier progression, but the system does not impose a strict rule that only the lowest-level item can appear in an early area. Higher-level drops can occur occasionally. No reliable rate for those appearances has been published.

Step-by-step fix for unwanted Relic results
- Write down the exact target. Name the weapon, armor piece, or skill you want rather than farming “relics” generally. If the target is a Norgan-related item or Ducat, note that its official source and rate are not established in the material currently available.
- Check the Arisen’s current vocation. Before the encounter or appraisal, confirm that the vocation associated with your desired weapon or skill is the one you are using. The vocation weighting increases likelihood; it does not lock the table.
- Check the main Pawn’s vocation. The weighting includes the main Pawn, not every temporary Pawn in the party. If your main Pawn has changed vocation, the likely result profile changes with it.
- Use a documented narrowing buff when you have one. Apply the buff intended to narrow results before the relevant appraisal. Record the buff and its duration so you can tell whether a change came from the buff or from ordinary random variation.
- Keep progression and location consistent. Relic levels are designed around progression and map depth. Compare runs in the same area and at a similar progression point instead of treating one high-level or low-level result as proof that the system is broken.
- Repeat only after checking the setup. There is no official drop-rate figure that tells you how many attempts should be enough. A run of unwanted results alone does not establish a bug.
This method improves targeting without claiming certainty. The developer explanation does not publish the complete loot table, every buff effect, or a reset schedule, so guides that promise a guaranteed vocation drop or a fixed number of attempts go beyond the documented evidence.
When an ordinary enemy or material will not reappear
If you are farming a normal enemy drop rather than an appraised relic, use a different diagnosis. Capcom’s January 28, 2025 Steam title update listed a fix for an issue in which some enemies would not respawn until the game was restarted. That entry confirms a historical respawn defect and its fix; it does not prove that every current missing enemy, especially in an expansion area, is caused by the same defect.

Check the game version first
- Open the platform’s update screen and allow Dragon’s Dogma 2 to install any pending title update.
- Close the game completely rather than leaving it suspended or in a quick-resume state.
- Launch the game again and revisit the location using the same route you used to identify the missing enemy.
- If the enemy is still absent, test another known location. A second location helps distinguish one encounter’s availability from a broader spawn problem.
A restart is a troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed reset command. Do not infer a universal respawn timer from the January 2025 patch note, because that note does not state a timer or cover every enemy.
Separate a missing spawn from a missing drop
Confirm that the target enemy actually appeared before judging the drop. If the enemy is present but the material is absent, you are testing loot availability or chance. If the enemy never appears, you are testing encounter availability. Keep those observations separate in your notes; otherwise a normal unlucky drop can look like a spawn failure.

Expansion access and platform checks
Some players use “relic farming” to describe an expansion feature that is not visible at all. The Capcom support FAQ updated October 12, 2026 is specifically for the Steam version, so its instructions should not automatically be treated as a diagnosis for console editions.
Steam
- Confirm that the Dark Arisen content is owned by the account running the game.
- Check the game’s downloadable-content or properties screen for installed content.
- Apply the latest title update before testing the relic menu again.
- Restart the game after installation so the content is detected in a fresh session.
Console and disc editions
Contemporary player discussions include individual reports of expansion-access problems and a PS5 player whose disc copy did not show expansion branding at startup. Those reports do not establish a universal PlayStation bug or a single activation procedure. Verify the edition, region, account entitlement, and installed updates for your own platform, then use platform-specific support rather than applying Steam-only steps.
If the relic system is completely absent, do not spend hours changing vocations or repeating encounters. First establish that the expansion content is installed and available to the edition you are running.

Do not use camping as a substitute for an inn-rest save
Capcom’s support documentation distinguishes camping from an inn or dwelling rest. The command Load from Last Inn Rest refers to the last time the Arisen rested at an inn or dwelling; camping is excluded. Autosaves occur when entering a new area or resting at an inn, and saving is unavailable during an enemy battle.
These rules describe save behavior, not a relic-appraisal reset or an enemy-respawn reset. Camping may be useful for ordinary play, but it does not create the inn-rest checkpoint that the reload command uses.
Safer test procedure
- Before a risky farming attempt, rest at an inn or dwelling if you are willing to make that your recovery point.
- Leave combat before relying on a save; the game does not allow saving during an enemy battle.
- Perform one controlled farming test and note the result.
- If the encounter causes an item-loss problem, decide whether returning to the last inn-rest save is worth losing the progress made since that rest.
Do not assume that an area entry, a camp, or an autosave confirms that a relic or enemy cycle has reset. The documented save triggers and the game’s loot systems are separate.
When an enemy appears to steal or remove your relics
A current community discussion includes a player report that an enemy “steals all my relics” before running away. This is useful language for describing the symptom, but it is not an official diagnosis. There is no confirmed, universal recovery procedure established by Capcom for relics lost in that way.
If this happens, stop repeating the encounter immediately. Preserve the situation if possible, check whether you have an inn-rest save from before the loss, and decide whether restoring it is preferable to continuing without the items. Because camping is not an inn-rest checkpoint, a camp alone may not give you the recovery point you expect.

Do not promise yourself that defeating the fleeing enemy later will return every missing relic. The report does not establish that behavior, and a single player account cannot define the item system for all platforms or encounters.

Players ask for a reliable way to farm Norgan Ducats and other Norgan-related rewards. The official and developer material cited for this topic does not provide a verified Norgan loot source, drop rate, or respawn/reset schedule. Those values should therefore be treated as not stated, not filled in with an estimate from a forum post.

This does not mean farming is impossible. It means the available documentation cannot support a precise route, percentage, or timer. Use the general diagnostic tracks—appraisal targeting, enemy availability, expansion access, and save protection—without presenting an unverified number as fact.
A decision tree for “not working” reports
- Is the relic appraisal screen or expansion feature missing? Check ownership, edition, platform-specific activation, installation, and updates.
- Is appraisal available but the item is wrong? Align the Arisen and main Pawn vocations with the target and apply an available narrowing buff. Treat the result as more likely, not guaranteed.
- Is the target enemy absent? Update the game, fully restart it, and test the location again. The January 28, 2025 patch addressed some restart-dependent respawns, but not every possible spawn failure.
- Is the enemy present but the drop missing? Record the encounter and result separately. No official rate or fixed attempt count is available for the relevant relic or Norgan item.
- Did an enemy flee with items? Stop farming, protect the next safe checkpoint, and use an existing inn-rest save only if the lost progress is acceptable.
- Are you trying to reset by camping? Replace that assumption with the documented save distinction: camping is not “Last Inn Rest.”

Assumption: a vocation guarantees its matching weapon
The developer described increased likelihood, not a guarantee. A Fighter setup can make a Fighter’s sword easier to obtain, but an unwanted result remains possible.

Relic levels follow progression and map depth as a design principle, yet occasional higher-level drops are possible. Do not discard an unusual result as proof of a broken table.

Assumption: every missing enemy is the January 2025 bug
Capcom documented a specific historical defect affecting some enemies. A current missing encounter may have another cause, and the patch note does not establish a universal reset cycle.
Assumption: camping creates the same checkpoint as an inn
It does not. Capcom explicitly excludes camping from “Load from Last Inn Rest.”
Assumption: a community report proves a platform-wide expansion bug
Reports in the Dark Arisen release discussion, including access complaints and a PS5 disc-branding observation, are individual experiences. They should prompt platform and edition checks, not a universal diagnosis.
Recommended farming log
A short log makes troubleshooting reproducible and prevents you from changing several variables at once. For each attempt, record:
- Platform and edition, including whether the copy is digital or disc-based.
- Game version and the date you last applied an update.
- Arisen vocation and main Pawn vocation.
- Any result-narrowing buff used and when it was applied.
- Area, progression context, and whether the target enemy actually spawned.
- Whether the result came from Relic Appraisal or an ordinary enemy drop.

- What was lost, if anything, and the location of your last deliberate inn-rest save.

When to contact support
Contact platform or game support when the expansion is missing after entitlement and installation checks, the game remains on a current version, or a reproducible save-specific problem survives a full restart. Include the platform, edition, title-update version, the exact symptom, and whether the issue affects appraisal, enemy spawning, or item retention. Steam-specific guidance from Capcom may not cover console activation behavior, so identify the platform in your report.
For an ordinary run of unwanted appraisal results, support may not classify the behavior as a defect because the documented system is weighted and random rather than guaranteed. Provide evidence of a missing menu, absent content, or repeatable spawn failure instead of only reporting that the item you wanted did not appear.
