To improve Dragon’s Dogma 2 performance, match the game’s settings to your hardware on PC, reset the configuration if it exceeds your specifications, and select the faster graphics mode on consoles. Title Update 3.2, released September 2, 2026, added or changed console graphics choices. Reporting describes a 60-fps maximum target on Xbox Series X and 45 fps on Xbox Series S with FSR upscaling, but those are ceilings rather than guarantees in every scene. On PC, Capcom provides a configuration-reset procedure instead of a universal high-FPS preset.
What changed in Title Update 3.2
Dragon’s Dogma 2’s current performance options are different from the launch-era configuration. Title Update 3.2 was reported released on September 2, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The update included revised PC requirements and new or changed console graphics options. Because the exact wording can vary by platform and the official update-notes page may not show the same labels in every region, open the current in-game graphics menu before following a setting guide.

On Xbox, Windows Central reported that the update introduced a maximum target of 60 fps on Series X and 45 fps on Series S when FSR upscaling is used. The same report describes a brief Series X check showing 30-fps and 60-fps choices, with the faster choice reducing resolution quality. These are reported update behaviors, not a controlled benchmark or a promise that the game will hold the target in every town, battle or traversal scene.
Capcom’s support pages remain the best starting point for platform-specific troubleshooting:
#1 Best Overall
- A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. With the Arisen’s future veiled in mystery, what challenges and triumphs await on the path to their destiny?
- Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. Pawns create the feeling of a cooperative gameplay experience by offering unique characteristics, skills, and knowledge gained from their experiences with other Arisen.
- Made with RE ENGINE – Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions, and their consequences, come to life.

How to get more FPS on PC
1. Check your hardware against the current requirements
Start with your GPU, CPU, installed memory, Windows version and display resolution. Capcom’s Steam FAQ warns: “The game may not run properly if the in-game graphics settings are higher than your PC specs.” The FAQ sends players to the Steam Store page for the current requirements, but the support text does not reproduce a complete minimum and recommended component list.
Do not treat an old launch-era requirement list as a current guarantee. Title Update 3.2 changed the reported PC requirements, and the available material does not establish a current, matched frame-rate benchmark for each processor or graphics card. Compare your exact hardware with the current Steam listing, then choose a target that fits your system. A 60-fps goal at 1440p places a different load on a PC than a 30- or 40-fps goal at 1080p.
2. Lower settings that exceed your PC’s capability
Use the game’s graphics menu to reduce options until the game starts and remains stable. Make one change at a time when possible, then revisit the same demanding area to judge whether the change helped. This approach is more reliable than copying a “best settings” list because the available evidence does not establish a universal bottleneck or a fixed FPS gain for any individual option.

- Pre-order Bonus: Superior Weapons Quartet
- Set the output resolution to match what your GPU can sustain rather than keeping a high native resolution at all costs.
- Use the game’s performance-oriented choices when image quality is less important than responsiveness.
- Reduce demanding quality options gradually and watch for improvements in crowded settlements and combat, where frame rate can vary from open-world traversal.
- Keep notes about the setting, resolution and observed behavior so you can restore image quality without losing track of what changed.
A graphics card upgrade, external cooling product, SSD or driver utility is not a guaranteed solution. Without a diagnosis showing that your system is GPU-limited, buying hardware may not address a CPU-limited scene or a game-specific problem.
3. Reset a broken configuration with Capcom’s supported procedure
If the game fails to launch, applies unusable settings or performs badly after an aggressive configuration change, reset the configuration file. This restores the default configuration; it is not a tuned performance preset.
- Close Dragon’s Dogma 2 completely.
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click Dragon’s Dogma 2 and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Locate
config.iniand rename it toconfig_backup.ini. - Make a copy of
config_default.iniin the same folder and rename the copy toconfig.ini. - Launch the game and configure the graphics options again, staying within your PC’s capabilities.
Keep config_backup.ini until you know the reset solved the problem. If the game starts normally afterward, change settings in small steps rather than restoring every previous value at once.

4. Separate launch failures from low frame rate
A configuration that prevents startup requires the reset above. A game that launches but fluctuates in demanding scenes needs measurement and gradual adjustment. Do not assume both symptoms have the same cause. Check whether the problem appears at one resolution, in one save area or after a particular graphics change. The supplied Capcom guidance does not provide per-setting FPS deltas, so claims such as “this option always costs 20 frames” would be unreliable.

Current reporting describes a trade-off between frame rate and image quality on consoles. Faster modes use lower resolution quality, while quality-oriented choices preserve a sharper image at a lower frame-rate target. Actual performance can vary by scene, so a mode’s maximum target is not the same as a locked rate.
| Platform | Reported maximum target | Reported mode behavior | Image-quality trade-off | Ray tracing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Not stated in the cited update reporting | Title Update 3.2 added or changed graphics choices; check the current PS5 menu | Exact platform-specific behavior is not established here | Use the current in-game option; no target or measured delta is established |
| Xbox Series X | Up to 60 fps, with FSR upscaling reported | Windows Central briefly observed 30-fps and 60-fps choices | The faster choice lowers resolution quality | Check the current Xbox menu |
| Xbox Series S | Up to 45 fps, with FSR upscaling reported | Platform-specific options differ from Series X | FSR and the lower target reflect the Series S hardware profile | Ray tracing is unavailable |
PlayStation 5
Title Update 3.2 changed or added PS5 graphics options, but the cited reporting does not establish a numerical PS5 ceiling or a controlled comparison of its modes. Open the current graphics or display menu and choose the option that prioritizes frame rate if responsiveness matters more than maximum resolution. If the labels differ from descriptions published around launch, follow the labels shown by your installed build.

- Relic Expedition Cycle – Throughout their journey in the kingdom of Norgan, the Arisen must unearth and appraise forgotten relics to unlock powerful new weapons and skills.
- New Dungeon Challenges – The 12 freshly uncovered Lost Rites dungeons house trials designed by the Pathfinder to sharpen the Arisen’s skills and recover rare equipment once held by past Arisen that now lay dormant.
- Deeper Character Customization – New tattoo and hair options have been added to the already robust character creation tool in Dragon’s Dogma 2 so Arisen and Pawns can have even deeper personalization.
- Now on Nintendo Switch 2 – Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen brings the classic fantasy world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the Dark Arisen Expansion to the Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.
- Pre-order Bonuses – The Norgan Fashion Set - Northern Attire will be available as a pre-order bonus, which can be accessed via in-game storage at launch.
Xbox Series X
Windows Central reported a maximum target of 60 fps and described a short hands-on check in which the menu offered 30-fps and 60-fps choices. Select the 60-fps-oriented option when smoother camera movement and input response are your priority. Expect reduced resolution quality compared with the slower choice, and do not interpret “60 fps” as a guarantee in every CPU-heavy settlement or large fight.
Xbox Series S
The reported maximum target for Series S is 45 fps with FSR upscaling. That is lower than the Series X target and reflects a different hardware profile. The Xbox FAQ explicitly says ray tracing is unavailable on Series S, so there is no ray-tracing toggle for Series S owners to disable. Use the performance-oriented option that the current menu exposes instead of looking for a feature the console does not support.
How to choose between quality and performance
- Choose the faster mode if you notice judder during camera movement, combat or traversal and can accept softer image detail.
- Choose the quality-oriented mode if a sharper image is more important and a lower target is acceptable.
- Evaluate the same location after switching modes; changing areas can make a mode appear better or worse simply because the scene load changed.
- Use the platform’s current labels, since exact names and available choices can change with updates.
Does turning off ray tracing improve FPS?
Disabling ray tracing can reduce rendering work on a platform that offers the setting, so it is a reasonable troubleshooting step when the current menu exposes it. However, the supplied evidence does not provide a controlled Dragon’s Dogma 2 measurement showing a specific FPS gain, and it does not establish ray tracing as the universal bottleneck. Treat the change as an image-quality versus performance choice, then compare the same scene before and after.

Series S owners should not follow instructions to disable ray tracing: Capcom’s Xbox FAQ says the feature is unavailable on that console. On PS5 and Series X, rely on the options shown by your installed version rather than assuming that a launch-era menu is unchanged.
What not to assume about performance
- A target is not a lock. The reported 60-fps Series X and 45-fps Series S figures are maximum targets. Dense scenes can still run below them.
- Console modes are not interchangeable. Series X and Series S have different reported ceilings, and PS5 figures were not established in the cited reporting.
- Launch advice may be stale. Title Update 3.2 changed the PC requirements and console choices.
- No single PC preset fits everyone. Resolution, CPU load, GPU capability and the desired frame rate all affect the correct balance.
- Hardware purchases need diagnosis. The available evidence does not support a universal GPU, CPU, storage or cooling recommendation.
Switch 2 information: a dated statement, not a current benchmark
Switch 2 is outside the confirmed PC, PS5 and Xbox guidance above. In an interview published July 16, 2026, TechRadar attributed a pre-release statement to producer Naoto Oyama saying Capcom was making small improvements for console Performance Mode and that the Switch 2 version was reaching at least 30 fps, with higher rates in many scenes during development. The statement predates Title Update 3.2 and the October release, so it should not be presented as a measured post-launch result.
The same interview quoted Oyama describing “small tweaks” intended to build toward a larger console Performance Mode improvement. That explains the development context for the later update, but it does not replace current measurements or the options shown on a player’s system.

A practical troubleshooting checklist
- Confirm your platform and install the latest game update.
- On PC, compare your GPU and CPU with the current Steam requirements before selecting high settings.
- If PC settings prevent launch or produce severe instability, perform Capcom’s
config.inireset procedure. - On console, open the current graphics menu and identify the performance-oriented and quality-oriented choices.
- On Series X, use the reported 60-fps-oriented mode if you accept lower resolution quality.
- On Series S, use the available performance option and remember that ray tracing is not supported.
- Test one change in the same demanding location instead of judging from unrelated scenes.
- Restore the previous option if image quality or stability becomes unacceptable.
