If Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen crashes, slows down, or appears unable to save on Switch 2, start by protecting any active save, then restart the console and update both the system and game. If the problem persists, check the game data for corruption; for an error that closes the software, test with the microSD card removed; reinstall only after those checks. These are Capcom’s general Switch 2 troubleshooting steps—not confirmation of a known defect or a guaranteed fix for this game.
Before troubleshooting, protect your save
If the save icon is visible, wait until it disappears before exiting the game or powering off the console. Capcom says manual saving is unavailable while fighting an enemy, so a missing save option during combat does not by itself mean the save system is broken.
To save manually, open Pause Menu > System > Save. Capcom says the game autosaves when you enter a new area or rest at an inn. Manual and automatic saves share one save slot; they are not separate backup slots. See Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 FAQ.
Fix crashes or software that will not start
Work through these checks in order. Capcom’s instructions are general guidance for Switch 2 software, not a diagnosis of a Dragon’s Dogma 2-specific problem. Its Switch 2 troubleshooting guide covers software that will not start or run normally, as well as sound or video problems.

- Restart the console. Power-cycle the Switch 2, then launch the game again.
- Update the system and game. Connect to the internet and install any available system software and game updates before testing again.
- Check the game data. Use the console’s data-check function for the affected software and follow the prompts to check for corrupted data.
- Test without the microSD card if the software closes with an error. Shut down the console before removing the card, then try the game again. If it works without the card, Capcom says the card or data on it may be involved; this test does not prove that a new card will fix the issue.
- Delete and reinstall the game if needed. Capcom says this requires an internet connection and does not delete save data.
What to do about slowdowns
The official sources cited here do not establish a Dragon’s Dogma 2-specific slowdown defect, performance threshold, or patch that resolves one. Avoid treating a slowdown—or general advice for Switch 2 software—as proof of a known game fault.
For a slowdown that continues after restarting and updating, report it to Capcom support. Include when it happens, your game and system software versions, whether the console is docked or handheld, and whether the storage-card test changes the behavior. These details help describe the case; they are not a Capcom-prescribed diagnostic checklist.

When the problem may be console-wide
If multiple games fail on the same Switch 2, Capcom says the console itself may be the cause and advises consulting Nintendo. If only Dragon’s Dogma 2 is affected, contact Capcom with the exact error message and the circumstances in which it occurs.
Nintendo notes that some Switch software may not be supported or fully compatible on Switch 2 and directs players to the third-party publisher for game-specific compatibility details. Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen as a Switch 2 release, but the official sources cited here do not identify a compatibility fault for this title. If you are testing storage, note that Switch 2 uses microSD Express cards for Switch 2 software storage; conventional microSD cards used with the original Switch are not supported for that purpose.
