For most buyers, the best version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the one that runs on hardware they already own. A September 2026 update changed the performance picture: Capcom’s producer said the PS5 and Xbox Series X Performance Modes were tuned for a 60 FPS target. That is a target, not a promise of a locked 60 FPS in every scene, and available reporting does not establish a complete, current, matched comparison across PC and consoles.
Choose PC if you already have a capable gaming setup and want adjustable hardware and settings. Choose PS5 or Xbox Series X if you own that console and want to play without buying or upgrading a PC. Check the exact edition before paying: the separately announced Dark Arisen is an expansion, not automatically part of every base-game listing.
Quick recommendation: which version should you buy?
- You already own a gaming PC: PC is a sensible choice if your system meets the current requirements and you are comfortable adjusting settings. The post-update minimum and recommended specifications are not established here, so do not rely on older launch-era PC requirements to judge a current system.
- You already own a PS5 or Xbox Series X: Start with that console. Both received a Performance Mode tuned toward 60 FPS, according to the game’s producer. Buying a separate machine solely for this game is difficult to justify without a verified current performance advantage.
- You are choosing between PS5 and Xbox Series X: There is not enough current, matched evidence here to name one the universal winner for resolution, image quality, or frame-rate stability. Use the console you prefer or already own rather than treating the target frame rate as proof that the versions perform identically.
- You need to buy hardware as well as the game: Compare the total cost of a PC that meets the current requirements with the cost of a console you would use. No current hardware or game prices are established here.
What changed in the 2026 performance update?
Windows Central reported that Title Update 3.2 rolled out on September 2, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing performance changes and revised PC requirements. That makes many launch-period impressions poor evidence for how the current build runs. Windows Central’s update report also describes new performance options.

The interview reproduced by Changelog.gg also says PC minimum and recommended requirements would be revised.

Windows Central reports a maximum of 60 FPS for Xbox Series X and 45 FPS for Xbox Series S with FSR after the update. Its author briefly checked the Series X build, but this is secondary reporting, not a controlled cross-platform benchmark. The Series S figure is included for context only; this article’s buying comparison is PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

- Find the current Dragon’s Dogma 2 PC requirements on the game’s official or store listing before buying.
- Compare the listed CPU, graphics card, memory, and storage requirements with your PC’s actual components.
- If your system is near the minimum, look for a current test of the updated build on comparable hardware before assuming it will deliver the performance you want.
PC’s flexibility is useful, but it does not establish that the game will run better than the console versions on any particular computer.
Why older performance reviews may disagree
Launch-era reviews documented performance concerns on PC and consoles, including CPU-related issues. Digital Foundry’s review is dated March 22, 2024, so it remains useful as a record of the original release, not as a verdict on the build after Title Update 3.2. Read Digital Foundry’s March 2024 technical review with that date in mind.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the base game released in March 2024. Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen as a paid expansion scheduled for October 9, 2026, listing Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as platforms. A base-game listing should not be assumed to include the expansion: verify whether the product is the base game, expansion, or a bundle, and which platform it supports. Capcom’s June 10, 2026 announcement describes the expansion and its planned release date.
The same announcement reports more than 14 million cumulative sales for the Dragon’s Dogma series as of March 31, 2026. That is a series-wide total, not sales of Dragon’s Dogma 2 alone.
