If an Unappraised Relic or other Spoils item seems to have vanished in Dragon’s Dogma 2, first check your Pawns, then the innkeeper’s item storage, and finally the location of your most recent fight. Hawker and Logistician Pawns can move or sell items, forfeited Pawns send their held items to storage, and one October 2026 player report describes a white ogre carrying off loot. Also update the game because June 2026 update notes describe fixes for two item-pickup failures. None of these checks guarantees restoration, and Capcom has not published a Relics-specific recovery procedure.
Start with this recovery order
Work through the checks in this order so you do not mistake a moved item for a permanently lost one. Keep the exact Relic name, approximate quantity, last known location, and the time you noticed it missing in mind as you investigate.
- Inspect every relevant Pawn. Look for the Relic or Spoils item in the inventories of Pawns who were present when you obtained it. Pay particular attention to Pawns with the Hawker or Logistician specialization.
- Speak to an innkeeper and open item storage. Search storage for the item and for any related materials. Capcom identifies this menu as the location for stored items, including additional-content items.
- Check whether a Pawn became forfeit. Capcom says items held by a Pawn when that Pawn becomes forfeit are automatically sent to item storage.
- Review your latest encounters. If a white ogre grabbed your character or ran away with spoils, return to the area and investigate the possibility that the creature is still carrying them. This is an anecdotal lead, not a confirmed universal mechanic.
- Confirm that the game is current. June 2026 update notes reproduced in a Steam community post describe fixes for failed Investigate pickups and a chest-inventory-space problem. The notes do not say that an item already lost will be restored.
- Use an in-game quest hint when the item is tied to an unclear objective. Set the quest as your priority and ask for a hint at the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine.
Stop after each check if you find the item. Continuing to change inventories or sell materials can make it harder to reconstruct what happened.

A Relic that is not in the player character’s visible inventory is not necessarily deleted. The available evidence points to several different situations: a Pawn may have handled it, a forfeited Pawn may have triggered an automatic transfer to storage, a pickup may have failed, or a creature may have carried off the spoils. The evidence does not establish these causes as equally likely.

Check Pawn inventories and specializations
Pawns are the first place to look because Capcom specifically warns that their specializations can change how items are handled. The relevant specializations are Hawker and Logistician.
Hawker
Capcom says a Hawker Pawn may sell low-rarity items. If a Relic or Spoils item had a low rarity, determine whether it could have been treated as an item for sale before assuming the game erased it. The available guidance does not provide a recovery screen for an item already sold, so the useful evidence is the Pawn’s current inventory and your recent item history.
Logistician
Capcom says a Logistician Pawn can adjust carried weight by receiving items. That can make an item appear to disappear from the Arisen’s inventory even though it has moved to a companion. Check each active Pawn rather than only the Pawn who picked up the item. If you use more than one party configuration, include Pawns who were present shortly before the item went missing.

- Open the party or inventory interface you normally use to view a Pawn’s carried items.
- Inspect the inventories of all Pawns who could have been near the pickup, chest, or fight.
- Identify whether Hawker or Logistician is listed as a specialization.
- Compare the item’s name and quantity with what you remember receiving.
- If a Pawn has the item, move it back to a character inventory or another secure location before continuing.
Do not infer that every missing Relic was sold. Capcom’s statement establishes that these specializations can affect carried items; it does not establish that either specialization caused the particular disappearance you saw.
Open item storage through an innkeeper
Capcom’s bonus-content FAQ states that items, including bonuses, appear in in-game storage. To view storage, speak to an innkeeper and use the storage option in the resulting menu. This is the most important check after inspecting Pawns, especially if a Pawn became forfeit.

If a Pawn became forfeit
Capcom says items held by a Pawn when it becomes forfeit are automatically sent to item storage. That gives this situation a defined destination: do not search only the active party. Go to an innkeeper, open storage, and search there for the Relic, Spoils item, or any other object the Pawn was carrying.
If the item was additional content
The storage guidance is specifically documented for additional-content items and bonuses. If the missing object came from additional content, rest at an inn and then reopen storage. Capcom recommends resting and trying its general troubleshooting steps if the content remains missing.

Do not extend that advice into a guaranteed fix for ordinary Relics or Spoils. The published FAQ does not confirm that resting restores a Relic lost during normal exploration, and it does not provide a Relics-specific recovery command.
What to record during the storage check
- Whether the item appears under its exact name or a related material name.
- Whether the quantity is different from what you expected.
- Whether several items from the same Pawn arrived together.
- Whether the item is absent from storage as well as from every Pawn inventory.
These observations separate a transfer from a pickup failure. They also give you a precise description if you need to report the issue to the game’s support channels.
Investigate a possible white-ogre theft
One October 2026 Reddit report offers a different explanation. A commenter asked whether the player had fought a white ogre, explaining that it had grabbed the character and run away with the spoils. The commenter said the loot was recovered after finding and killing the ogre in a cave. The original poster then remembered fighting a white ogre.

This is a single player thread, not Capcom documentation and not proof that every missing Relic was stolen. Treat it as a conditional search lead:
- Recall whether a white ogre was in the encounter immediately before the item disappeared.
- Return to the nearby area, including caves or routes connected to the fight.
- Look for the creature or signs that the encounter continued away from the original battlefield.
- If you find the suspected thief, resolve the encounter and check the resulting loot.
- Check your inventory and Pawn inventories again after the encounter.
If there was no white-ogre encounter, this branch provides no positive evidence. Do not spend time searching every cave solely because the anecdote exists; prioritize locations connected to your own recent fight.
Update the game when a pickup may have failed
A Steam community post reproducing June 2026 update notes reports two relevant fixes. The notes describe a bug in which items could not be obtained using Investigate after defeating enemies, preventing further Investigate attempts. They also describe a case in which items became unobtainable when multiple items came from a chest while there was not enough inventory space.
The official update page was not available for verification here, so treat the Steam post as a reproduction of Capcom’s notes rather than as an independent recovery guarantee. The notes describe fixing the conditions; they do not state that the update restores items that disappeared before installation.
When the Investigate fix is relevant
- You defeated an enemy and used Investigate to collect an item.
- The item did not enter your inventory.
- Further Investigate attempts stopped working.
When the chest fix is relevant
- A chest produced multiple items.
- Your available inventory space was insufficient for all of them.
- One or more of the chest items could no longer be obtained.
What to do
- Check the game’s update status on your platform.
- Install any available update and restart the game.
- Recheck Pawn inventories and innkeeper storage.
- If the original pickup cannot be repeated, note the enemy or chest, the location, your inventory-space situation, and the game version when reporting the problem.
Updating is a way to avoid the documented pickup conditions going forward. It is not evidence that a missing Relic has been restored.

Use quest hints when the item is part of an unclear objective
Sometimes the item is not missing at all; the uncertainty is about what the quest expects you to do with it. Capcom advises setting the quest as the priority and visiting the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine. A hint may be available for a fee.
- Open your quest list and set the relevant quest as the priority.
- Travel to the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine.
- Ask for the available hint and pay the fee if one is offered.
- Use the hint to determine whether the Relic or Spoils item must be delivered, examined, retained, or taken to a particular location.
This route addresses quest uncertainty, not a confirmed inventory-deletion bug. If the item is absent from the player inventory, every Pawn inventory, and storage, continue to document the pickup circumstances separately.

Use the following branches to avoid mixing unrelated symptoms:
- The item is on a Pawn: move it back and review whether Hawker or Logistician explains the transfer.
- The item is in storage: determine whether a Pawn became forfeit or whether it was additional content.
- The item was from a bonus or additional-content entitlement: rest at an inn, reopen storage, and use Capcom’s general troubleshooting guidance if it remains absent.
- The item followed an Investigate pickup or a crowded chest: update the game and record the exact pickup conditions.
- A white ogre carried you away or fled with loot: search the connected area as a tentative recovery attempt.
- The item is present but the quest remains unclear: use the prioritized quest and a Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine hint.
- The item is nowhere after all checks: report the circumstances without claiming that a particular cause is confirmed. The available official guidance does not promise restoration for a Relics- or Spoils-specific loss.
What the evidence does—and does not—establish
Capcom’s documented guidance is strongest for inventory handling: Hawker and Logistician Pawns can affect carried items, and a Pawn’s held items go to storage when that Pawn becomes forfeit. Capcom also identifies innkeeper storage for additional-content items. Those are concrete destinations to check.
The June 2026 update notes, as reproduced on Steam, support updating when an Investigate action or a multi-item chest pickup failed. They describe bug fixes, not a data-repair process. Installing the update should therefore be treated as preventive and corrective for the game’s behavior after updating, not as a promise to recreate a lost object.

The white-ogre explanation remains provisional. It is supported by one October 2026 player account in which the suspected creature was found in a cave and the loot was recovered. That account is useful for deciding where to look, but it is not enough to label white-ogre theft as the general cause of missing Relics.
There is currently no confirmed Capcom procedure that specifically restores an Unappraised Relic or Spoils item after it is absent from the Arisen’s inventory, every relevant Pawn, and item storage. Avoid spending money on hardware, controllers, printed guides, or another copy of the game: none has a documented role in recovering this in-game item state.
How to document an unresolved loss
If the checks fail, write down the facts while they are fresh. Include:

- Whether you used Investigate and whether later Investigate attempts failed.
- Whether the pickup came from a chest containing several items and whether inventory space was limited.
- Which Pawns were present and whether Hawker or Logistician was active.
- Whether any Pawn became forfeit.
- Whether a white ogre was involved and where the encounter occurred.
- The game version and platform after checking for updates.
This record does not recover the item by itself, but it distinguishes a transfer, a documented pickup condition, an additional-content entitlement issue, and an anecdotal theft possibility. That distinction is essential when the available evidence does not identify one universal cause.
Final answer
Begin with Pawn inventories and innkeeper storage, because those checks follow Capcom’s documented item-handling rules. Then investigate the specific pickup bug conditions and update the game. Search for a white ogre only when your own recent encounter makes that explanation plausible, and use the Diviner’s Salon or Reverent Shrine when the problem is quest direction rather than inventory state. If the Relic or Spoils item remains absent everywhere, treat the loss as unresolved: no Relics-specific Capcom recovery method or guaranteed restoration is established.
