In Dragon’s Dogma 2, your Main Pawn is a companion you create, other players’ Pawns can join your party, and your vocation determines your combat style. You can change vocation at a Vocation Guild. Fast travel has several options, but the exact current behavior depends on your installed game version, so check the in-game map and item descriptions.
How do Pawns work in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Pawns are companions who travel and fight alongside the Arisen. Your Main Pawn is the companion you create; support Pawns associated with other players can also join your party. Capcom’s official manual describes the Main Pawn as growing alongside the Arisen and support Pawns as bringing back information from their travels.

A Pawn’s experience may help point you toward a dungeon, a quest location, or hidden treasure. Treat that guidance as useful direction rather than a substitute for exploring: it reflects the Pawn’s experience and may not cover every objective.
What’s the difference between a Main Pawn and a support Pawn?
- Main Pawn: The player-created companion who accompanies the Arisen.
- Support Pawn: An additional party member associated with another player. Capcom’s surfaced manual text says support Pawns can be recruited from a Riftstone even while playing offline.
The manual information available does not establish current hiring costs, level restrictions, or the full set of online-service requirements. Check the game’s own prompts for details that apply to your version.

Which vocation should you choose?
Vocations are character classes with different play styles, strengths, and weaknesses. Capcom’s manual names Fighter, Mage, Archer, and Thief as the four starting choices. If you are new, pick the approach that sounds most enjoyable—such as close combat, magic, ranged attacks, or more agile fighting—rather than treating the first choice as permanent.
The manual says you can change vocation by visiting a Vocation Guild. The available manual information does not provide a complete vocation roster, advanced vocation unlock conditions, weapon-skill details, or which vocations are available to Pawns; consult the game for those specifics.

Yes. Visit a Vocation Guild and use its vocation-change option. The initial choice is not a permanent commitment.
How does fast travel work in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Fast travel is not one single route type. The available options include item-based travel involving Ferrystones and Portcrystals, as well as Oxcart journeys. An Oxcart Stopover is a reported addition to the travel system; it is distinct from direct travel using a travel item.
