Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers two different ways to cover ground: paid oxcart rides between towns and Ferrystone travel to a Portcrystal. Oxcarts run on a schedule and can be attacked en route; a Ferrystone is more direct, but it only works when you have an eligible Portcrystal destination and are somewhere the item can activate. Wakestones are a separate item, but the current official sources cited here do not establish their exact use or acquisition rules.
How do I fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Use an oxcart for scheduled travel between towns, or use a Ferrystone to transport your party to a Portcrystal. The options differ in timing, route control, and restrictions:

Taking an oxcart
At an inconvenient hour, you can pass time at the station until a cart is available. At a city or town station, speak with the driver to choose an available stopover on the route. Capcom calls oxcarts “a relatively safe means of traveling between towns,” while warning that raids and monster attacks are possible.
Using a Ferrystone
A Ferrystone is for travel to a Portcrystal, not a general-purpose way to jump to any point on the map. The official storefront listing says its Portcrystal item is obtainable in-game, so buying that add-on is not required to use the travel system.

Why can’t I use my Ferrystone?
Ferrystones do not activate in every location. Capcom Support gives being under a roof as an example of a place where the item may not work, and notes that the item can appear greyed out and unavailable. If you cannot select it, try moving to another location and check again. The cited support guidance does not establish every possible reason for the restriction.
What does a Portcrystal do?
A Portcrystal marks a location that a Ferrystone can take your party to. The PlayStation Store’s description identifies it as a “Warp Location Marker” and says, “Use a Ferrystone to instantly transport your party to the Portcrystal’s location.” That describes the relationship between the items, but it does not provide a complete map of destinations or current-version rules.
