There is no verified relic drop percentage, universal relic reset timer, or proven best farming location for Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Capcom confirms that the expansion adds relic hunting in the snowy Norgan region: you unearth forgotten relics, appraise them, and use the results to unlock weapons and skills. Recent guides describe combat-and-exploration routes, but they do not provide controlled measurements that justify a precise rate or ranking.
This guide separates confirmed information from provisional route advice so you can farm efficiently without treating guesses as game data.
What relic farming is in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen
Relic farming is the expansion’s repeatable unearth-and-appraise loop. Capcom’s product description says players can “Unearth and appraise forgotten relics to unlock powerful new weapons and skills that will aid you on your journey.” That wording establishes two distinct actions: finding a relic and appraising it. The appraisal result is part of the progression toward new equipment and abilities.
The activity belongs to the Dark Arisen expansion, not to a general relic system documented for the base game. Capcom announced the expansion for October 9, 2026, with Norgan as a snowy northern region and 12 dungeon challenges set in the existing game world. The expansion is listed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

What you need before farming
The base game is required
Capcom’s product listing states that the expansion cannot be used without Dragon’s Dogma 2. Buying the expansion separately does not make it a standalone game. Confirm that the base game and the expansion are installed on the same platform account before troubleshooting missing content.
Access to Norgan
Norgan is the confirmed setting for the relic adventure. The announcement describes it as a snowy northern region. The published feature count of 12 dungeon challenges describes expansion content; it is not a relic-drop statistic and does not mean every dungeon has an identical relic table.
A plan for recording results
Because no authoritative rate table has been published, a short personal log is more useful than an internet percentage. For each run, note the area or dungeon segment, the time spent, whether the source was combat or exploration, the number of relics found, and the appraisal result. Keep combat clears and exploration-only passes separate so you do not compare unlike runs.
How the confirmed relic loop works
- Enter the Norgan content. The relic system described by Capcom is tied to the expansion’s northern region.
- Search while exploring. Recent guide coverage identifies exploration as one source category. Treat those descriptions as secondary guidance rather than an official list of every container, gathering point, or dungeon object that can contain a relic.
- Fight enemies along the route. The same guide coverage identifies combat as another source category. No official enemy-by-enemy table has been released, so a particular monster cannot be assigned a confirmed percentage.
- Unearth the relic. Finding a relic is not the same as knowing its final value; the official description presents unearthing and appraising as separate parts of the loop.
- Appraise it. Appraisal determines what the forgotten relic contributes to your progression. The reviewed official materials do not publish appraisal odds by tier or item type.
- Use the resulting progression. Capcom says the purpose of the relics is to unlock powerful weapons and skills. The exact unlock sequence, costs, and tier probabilities are not specified in the published information available for this guide.
This sequence is the safe foundation for a farming route. It does not imply that every combat encounter or exploration object produces a relic, or that appraisal outcomes are evenly distributed.

Relic drop rates: what is and is not known
No official numerical table gives a relic chance by enemy, chest, gathering point, dungeon, or relic tier. The reviewed guide coverage also does not establish a reproducible percentage. Do not treat a number circulating during launch week as a verified rate unless it is accompanied by a documented sample, method, and version.
| Question | Verified answer | How to use that information |
|---|---|---|
| Chance from a particular enemy | Not stated by Capcom; no source-backed percentage was established. | Compare enemy routes by your own recorded relics per minute, not by an assumed enemy rate. |
| Chance from a chest or exploration object | Not stated by Capcom; guide coverage describes exploration generally, without a controlled table. | Log the source category and the exact segment when testing a route. |
| Chance of a relic tier or appraisal result | Not stated in the official materials reviewed. | Record appraisal outcomes separately from relics found. |
| Launch-week odds | No established launch-week rate was found. | Ignore posts that present an early estimate as a permanent rule. |
The absence of a published percentage does not mean every source has the same chance. It means the difference has not been demonstrated by the available evidence. A reliable claim would need a defined game version, a large sample, a clear source type, and a method that another player could repeat.
Do relics have a reset timer?
No dependable relic-specific reset interval has been established for enemies, chests, or gathering points. General statements about monster respawns in the wider game are not enough to prove that relic sources reset on the same schedule.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Why common reset assumptions are risky
- A combat encounter may return on a different schedule from an exploration object.
- A source can appear to reset because the player changed areas, advanced time, reloaded a save, or simply revisited after a long interval; appearance is not proof of a universal timer.
- An individual guide’s route may depend on a particular version, quest state, or progression point.
Do not promise that sleeping, fast travel, quitting to the title screen, or waiting a fixed number of in-game days will refresh every relic source. The reviewed material does not support any of those as universal rules.

A controlled way to test a suspected reset
- Choose one compact Norgan segment and record every relic source you can identify.
- Clear or inspect the segment once, recording the date in your notes, elapsed minutes, source type, and appraisal results.
- Change only one condition for the next test, such as leaving the area and returning or advancing time. Do not change route, difficulty, quest state, and party composition simultaneously.
- Return to the same sources and record whether each one is present, absent, or changed.
- Repeat the test several times. A single return is an observation, not proof of a timer.
Keep the result local to the version and conditions you tested. Until Capcom publishes a rule, describe it as a personal observation rather than “the relic reset.”
What is the best relic-farming location?
Norgan is the only location confirmed by Capcom for the expansion’s relic adventure. The available sources do not establish that one Norgan dungeon, route, enemy group, or chest cluster has the highest yield.
Recent guide coverage recommends combining combat with exploration, but it does not provide a controlled comparison of travel time, relic count, source density, or appraisal quality. Consequently, calling a route “best” would overstate the evidence.

| Criterion | What to measure | Why it changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Relics per minute | Total relics found divided by active route time. | A route with fewer relics per lap can still win if it is much faster. |
| Appraisal results | Record each result by tier or unlock contribution when the game identifies one. | A high count of low-value results may be less useful than fewer valuable ones. |
| Travel overhead | Time spent moving between combat and exploration points. | Long transitions reduce practical yield even if a segment looks rich. |
| Enemy difficulty | Deaths, healing demands, resource use, and clear time. | A dangerous route can produce a worse return for an underpowered character. |
| Source dependence | Whether the route relies on enemies, exploration objects, or both. | A mixed route gives you more than one source category to test. |
| Reset assumption | The observed return condition, if any, and the number of repetitions. | Prevents one apparent refresh from being mistaken for a universal timer. |

- Select a compact starting segment. Begin with an area you can revisit without a long transfer. The purpose is to reduce travel time while you collect baseline data.
- Clear the combat portion. Fight the enemies on your chosen path and record the number of relics obtained. Do not infer a per-enemy rate from one run.
- Inspect the exploration sources. Search the same segment methodically after combat. Record whether the relic came from exploration rather than combining both categories in one unlabelled total.
- Unearth every relic before moving on. The loop is not complete when an object is located; Capcom’s description specifically pairs unearthing with appraisal.
- Appraise the haul. Keep the number found and the appraisal results in separate notes. This lets you distinguish a route that produces many relics from one that produces better outcomes.
- Move to the next nearby segment. Continue only while the travel time and enemy risk remain reasonable for your character. A longer route is not automatically more productive.
- Return only under a recorded condition. If you test a suspected reset, write down what you did between passes. Do not label the condition a confirmed reset until repeated tests support it.
- Compare several runs. Use at least the same time window and route definition for each trial. Report your result as an observation tied to your version and progression state.
This route is useful because it covers both source categories mentioned by guides. It does not prove that combat and exploration have equal odds, that every segment contains a relic, or that a return trip will refresh anything.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to build your own route comparison
When no published yield study exists, a small, consistent log can answer the practical question “Which route is better for me?” without pretending to reveal the game’s hidden table.
Use identical run definitions
Define when the clock starts and stops. For example, start when the character enters the first source and stop after the final appraisal. Use the same rule for every candidate segment. If one test includes loading screens or travel and another does not, the comparison is distorted.

Separate count from quality
Track at least two results: relics found per run and useful appraisal outcomes per run. The official materials confirm that relics unlock weapons and skills, but they do not state that a larger pile always produces a better unlock. Keeping both figures avoids collapsing different goals into one unsupported “efficiency” number.

Repeat before changing the route
Random outcomes can make one pass look unusually good or bad. Repeat the same segment under the same conditions before deciding that another location is superior. Keep notes on character progression and quest state, since a route tested later may not be directly comparable.
Common mistakes and fixes
Mistake: quoting an exact percentage
Fix: Label the number as an unverified player estimate, or omit it. No official relic percentage is established in the available materials.
Mistake: treating a general respawn claim as a relic reset
Fix: Identify the exact source and test condition. A monster’s return does not establish a chest, gathering point, or relic reset rule.

Fix: Compare relics per minute, appraisal results, travel time, and difficulty. If you have only anecdotal runs, call the route provisional.
Mistake: counting the 12 dungeons as a drop-rate clue
Fix: Treat 12 as Capcom’s published number of dungeon challenges, not as the number of farming tiers or a probability multiplier.
Mistake: assuming the expansion works without the base game
Fix: Install and launch Dragon’s Dogma 2 on the same platform account. Capcom states that the expansion cannot be used by itself.
Mistake: stopping after finding an object
Fix: Complete both stages described by Capcom: unearth the relic, then appraise it. Record the two stages separately when measuring a route.
