Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launched for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 9, 2026, combining the original game with its new expansion content. It is the simplest option for newcomers who want the game on Nintendo’s console. If you already own the base game elsewhere, weigh the local Switch 2 bundle price and portability against buying the expansion for your current platform.
What does the Switch 2 edition include?
Capcom says the Switch 2 release combines the main game and expansion content in one package. The expansion adds three named elements: a new story in the northern region of Norgan, 12 dungeon challenges in the original game’s area, and additional character-editing options, including hairstyling and tattoos. On PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, Capcom sells those new elements as expansion DLC that requires the base game.
The product is titled Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Capcom’s June 10, 2026 announcement describes the Switch 2 release as a single package containing the main game and expansion content; its Japanese product announcement lists the new content and platform pricing.

No. The Japanese e-Capcom listing identifies the physical package as a key card, not a self-contained game card. It requires an internet connection and at least 58 GB of free storage for first play because the main software downloads then; additional free space may be needed for updates. These are requirements stated for the Japanese package, so check the listing for the edition sold in your region.

If you already own the game elsewhere
Compare the complete local cost of buying the Switch 2 bundle with the cost of adding the expansion to your current copy. Portability may make the Switch 2 purchase worthwhile to you, but the available sources do not establish a cross-buy discount, an upgrade path, or cross-save support. Do not assume that ownership, progress, or purchases transfer between platforms.
What does the Switch 2 performance review say?
Meristation’s hands-on review reports an average of about 45 frames per second with the reviewer’s selected settings. It describes output using upscaling at 1440p docked and 1080p handheld, while also noting resolution changes in some scenes and pop-in affecting scenery and characters. These are that reviewer’s observations, not controlled benchmark results or a guarantee of performance in every scene. Read the Meristation review as a description of its tested version and settings, not a promise that every player will see identical results.

What changed in the existing-platform game?
Capcom says the existing-platform game received the TU3.2 update ahead of the expansion release. The update included frame-rate improvements, more save slots, and expanded custom skill-set slots. Capcom’s TU3.2 announcement concerns platforms that already had the game; it does not establish that every update detail or performance result applies identically to Switch 2.
