Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen on Nintendo Switch 2 makes the updated game portable, but reviewers report visible visual concessions and longer loading compared with PlayStation hardware. Its performance options need careful interpretation: Switch 2 targets 30 fps, with optional frame generation that creates a 60-fps-like presentation; after Title Update 3.2, testing found that base PS5 Performance mode reaches 60 fps more often than not. The available evidence supports a qualitative comparison, not a precise resolution or matched-scene verdict.
What versions are being compared?
This is a comparison of the current Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen release, not just the original 2024 game. Capcom says the Switch 2 edition combines the main game and expansion in one package. It launched on October 9, 2026, for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom’s release announcement describes the added story and content.
The performance evidence comes from different kinds of reporting: reviewer observations of the Switch 2 retail version, a producer’s explanation of its frame-generation mode, and a separate post-update PS5 test. None is a controlled, matched-scene test of Switch 2 against base PS5, so apparent differences should not be treated as exact measurements.
How do the graphics compare?
Image detail
Nintendo Life’s retail-version review reports visible visual downgrades on Switch 2 compared with PS5 Pro. RPG Site’s pre-release hands-on also described cuts to textures, models, level of detail, and draw distance, alongside upscaling from a lower resolution. Those are attributed observations, not a measured inventory of every difference. The PS5 Pro comparison in the Nintendo Life review is not the same as a base PS5 comparison.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Resolution and upscaling
The available reports do not establish an exact Switch 2 internal or output resolution, nor directly comparable resolution figures for base PS5. It is reasonable to say the Switch 2 version uses upscaling based on RPG Site’s hands-on, but not to claim a specific pixel count or a numerical gap between consoles.
Loading and stability
Nintendo Life reports longer loading on Switch 2, including in Pawn rifts and cutscene transitions, as well as occasional choppy moments that were more apparent while docked. RPG Site also noted long loading in its earlier hands-on. These are reviewer observations; they do not provide measured loading times or establish that every area or play session behaves the same way.

Does the Switch 2 version run at 60 fps?
Not as a native 60-fps rendering target. Producer Naoto Oyama said the game targets 30 fps in both handheld and TV modes. He explained that the optional frame-generation feature interpolates frames to create visuals equivalent to 60 fps, and acknowledged that slight ghosting can occur in some situations. This is Oyama’s description reported by Nintendo Life, not an independent frame-rate measurement. Read Nintendo Life’s report.

Nintendo Life says the Switch 2 retail build offers a locked 30-fps option, a variable-frame-rate option, and an FSR 3 frame-generation toggle. Its reviewer preferred variable frame rate overall and found the frame-generation benefit perceptible. That preference is one reviewer’s experience; it does not prove that one setting is best for every player.

How does Switch 2 performance compare with PS5?
The PS5 comparison has changed with a recent update. Push Square’s testing after Title Update 3.2 reports that base PS5 Performance mode reaches 60 fps and stays there more often than not, including in crowded Vernworth. That is the outlet’s result under its test conditions, not a guarantee of a locked 60 fps in every scene.
Push Square also reported separate PS5 Pro results: unlocked performance above 100 fps with ray tracing off and above 60 fps with ray tracing on. Those figures are for PS5 Pro and should not be substituted for base PS5 performance. See Push Square’s post-update PS5 report.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
In practical terms, the reported modes point to a distinction rather than a simple 30-versus-60 comparison: Switch 2 targets 30 fps and can interpolate frames, while base PS5 Performance mode has been reported to reach 60 fps more often than not after the update. Frame generation can make motion look smoother, but generated frames are not the same as rendering the game natively at 60 fps.

Which version makes more sense?
- Choose Switch 2 if portability matters most. It provides the game in handheld form, with the understanding that reviewers report visual reductions and longer loading than on PS5 Pro.
- Choose base PS5 if performance is the priority. Post-Title Update 3.2 testing reports that its Performance mode reaches 60 fps more often than not, while the cited Switch 2 target is 30 fps with optional frame generation.
- Do not use PS5 Pro review comparisons as a proxy for base PS5. The review observations and performance figures cited here refer to different PlayStation models and different tests.
Switch 2 download and storage details
The Switch 2 package is a key card, according to Capcom’s Japanese store listing; first play requires an internet connection and at least 58 GB of free storage, with updates potentially requiring additional space. That is a Japan-market listing, so check your own regional listing for applicable package and storage details. Nintendo UK lists a 49.6 GB download size, which is a regional listing figure rather than a universal storage requirement. Capcom’s Japanese store listing and Nintendo UK’s Switch 2 listing provide those market-specific details.
