Facebook Lite is not distributed as a Windows program. Meta’s current official listing is the Android app com.facebook.lite on Google Play, published by Meta Platforms, Inc. Its install button is Install, and the supported device types shown are phones and tablets—not Windows PCs.
That means there is no verified official Facebook Lite.exe for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, or Windows 11. On a PC, use Facebook in a browser, or run the Android app through a separately maintained Android emulator if your computer supports it.

The Google Play listing currently shows Facebook Lite as an ad-supported Android application with in-app purchases. Do not treat a page offering a Windows installer as Meta’s official download unless Meta itself identifies it as such.
Recommended method: use Facebook in your browser
This is the safest and simplest PC equivalent. It does not install Facebook Lite, but it avoids an unverified executable and works without an Android environment.

- Open a supported browser.
- Go directly to facebook.com rather than clicking a third-party download advertisement.
- Sign in with your Facebook account.
- If the full site is slow, close unused tabs, disable unnecessary extensions, and use a smaller browser window. You can also try m.facebook.com if it is available for your account and region.
Create a desktop shortcut in Windows 10 or 11
In Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, open Facebook, select the browser menu, and choose the option named Install this site as an app, Apps, or Create shortcut, depending on the browser version. Confirm the shortcut when prompted. This creates a shortcut or browser-based app window; it does not install Facebook Lite and does not add an official Meta Windows package.
Windows 11: do not follow old Windows Subsystem for Android instructions
Older guides often say to install Facebook Lite through the Amazon Appstore and Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). That advice is no longer generally current. Microsoft says WSA and the Amazon Appstore stopped being available in the Microsoft Store on March 5, 2025.
Microsoft’s support article still contains parts of the older Amazon Appstore installation procedure, but that text should not be read as confirmation that the former Windows 11 Android route remains broadly available. A new Windows 11 installation should therefore use the Facebook website or a currently maintained third-party Android emulator instead.
Running the Android app with an emulator
An Android emulator can provide an environment in which the Google Play version of Facebook Lite may run. This is not an official Windows edition, and compatibility can change. Only download an emulator from its developer’s official website, then install Facebook Lite from Google Play inside the emulator where Google Play is supported.

- Check that your Windows edition and processor are supported by the emulator.
- Enable CPU virtualization in UEFI/BIOS if the emulator requires it. The setting may be called Intel VT-x, Intel Virtualization Technology, or AMD-V.
- Install the emulator from its official source—not from a “Facebook Lite PC installer” page.
- Open Google Play inside the emulator and search for Facebook Lite.
- Confirm that the publisher is Meta Platforms, Inc. and that the package is
com.facebook.lite. - Select Install, sign in, and review the emulator’s permissions.
Do not download a random APK simply because its filename says Facebook Lite. An APK from an unknown source may be modified, outdated, bundled with malware, or designed to steal login credentials. If Google Play is unavailable in an emulator, that is a limitation of the emulator—not a reason to trust an arbitrary APK mirror.
Windows version and browser limitations
Windows 11
Windows 11 is the most suitable of the listed versions for a current browser or third-party emulator. Microsoft documented the former Android route with requirements including an x64 or ARM64 processor, Virtual Machine Platform, and recommended 16 GB of RAM and an SSD. Those requirements applied to the Amazon Appstore/WSA route, which has since been withdrawn from general Microsoft Store availability.
Windows 10
Windows 10 Home and Pro reached end of support on October 14, 2025, and version 22H2 was the final Windows 10 release. Facebook may still open in a compatible browser, but an unsupported operating system is a security risk for account use, banking, and other sensitive activity. Upgrade Windows where the computer supports it.
Windows 8
Windows 8 and 8.1 are also obsolete platforms. A browser may load Facebook, but current website features and security behavior are not guaranteed. Avoid trying to solve compatibility problems by installing an unofficial Facebook executable.

Windows 7
Microsoft support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020. Microsoft Edge 109 was the last Edge release supporting Windows 7; Edge 110 and later require Windows 10 or newer. Mozilla’s Firefox 115 ESR is the documented browser exception for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. Mozilla’s current information says security updates for that ESR line continue until March 2027, although the same page also contains an older August 2026 end-date statement.
Current Chrome and Edge installations should not be assumed to work or remain updateable on Windows 7. If Facebook is unavoidable on that computer, use the latest Firefox ESR version offered for the system, enable two-factor authentication on the Facebook account, and plan to replace or upgrade the operating system.
If Microsoft Store is involved
Microsoft Store is not the source for the official Facebook Lite Android app. For a different Windows application, Microsoft’s current path is Start → Microsoft Store → Apps or Gaming; use Show all to expand a category. If a separate Windows Facebook app is listed in your region, check its publisher and permissions carefully—it should not be confused with Facebook Lite.

- Press Windows logo key + R.
- Enter
wsreset.exeexactly. - Select OK.
- Wait while the blank Command Prompt window appears. Microsoft says it normally closes after about ten seconds, after which Microsoft Store opens automatically.
If Store search still fails, Microsoft lists several possible causes: the app may not be available in your country or region, Microsoft family settings may hide it, the app may have been removed, or a recent Windows update may require a restart. On Windows 10 builds below 15063, Microsoft says to update Windows or use www.microsoft.com/store.

How to spot a dangerous “Facebook Lite for PC” download
- The download is an
.execlaiming to be Facebook Lite. - The page says “official” but does not link to Meta or Google Play.
- The installer asks you to disable antivirus protection.
- The download is hidden behind several “Download” buttons or a password-protected archive.
- The publisher, digital signature, package name, or source is missing.
- You are told to install a browser extension before downloading the app.
Close such pages. If you already ran an unknown installer, disconnect from the internet if suspicious activity is occurring, run a full Microsoft Defender scan, uninstall the program from Settings → Apps or Control Panel → Programs and Features, and change your Facebook password from a known-clean device. Enable two-factor authentication afterward.
FAQ
Is there an official Facebook Lite download for Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11?
No. Meta’s verified Facebook Lite listing is an Android app on Google Play with package ID com.facebook.lite. It is not presented as a Windows installer.
Can I download Facebook Lite as an EXE file?
Do not assume so. An EXE offered as “Facebook Lite for PC” is not identified as an official Meta download by the current Google Play listing. Use Facebook in a browser or install the Android app inside a trusted, currently supported emulator.
Does Windows 11 have a built-in Android emulator for Facebook Lite?
The former Microsoft-supported Windows Subsystem for Android and Amazon Appstore route was withdrawn from the Microsoft Store on March 5, 2025. Older instructions presenting it as a generally available Windows 11 feature are outdated.

What is the easiest way to use Facebook on a PC?
Open facebook.com in a browser and sign in. You can create a browser shortcut or site app from Edge or Chrome, but that shortcut is not Facebook Lite.
Will Facebook Lite run on an Android emulator?

What should Windows 7 users use?

There is no official Facebook Lite Windows download for 2026. The verified app is the Android package com.facebook.lite from Meta on Google Play. For a Windows PC, use Facebook.com; if you specifically need the Android Lite app, use a reputable, maintained Android emulator and install it through Google Play. Avoid every random “Facebook Lite.exe” download.
