Yes—but only one release is confirmed as a full headset-VR game: ZONE OF THE ENDERS: The 2nd RUNNER – M∀RS. Konami lists M∀RS for PS4 with PlayStation VR and for PC through Steam, and describes its VR mode as the complete game viewed from inside Jehuty’s cockpit. The original Zone of the Enders, the original 2003 The 2nd Runner, and the 2012 Zone of the Enders HD Collection should not be treated as VR editions.
M∀RS also adds a 3D hangar, a Jehuty model viewer, and a cinematic theater for replaying story scenes in VR. Official material confirms PS4/PlayStation VR and PC/Steam VR support, but does not establish compatibility with PSVR2.
Which Zone of the Enders version supports VR?
ZONE OF THE ENDERS: The 2nd RUNNER – M∀RS is the version to look for if you want headset VR. Konami calls it a “complete VR remaster” and says the enhanced VR presentation places the player in first person inside Jehuty’s cockpit. The publisher also says the full game can be played in VR, rather than limiting the headset to a menu, demo, or separate short experience.

The standard non-VR presentation remains part of the release. Konami describes third-person mech combat in 4K as an alternative to playing the full game in VR, so owning M∀RS does not require you to use a headset for every session.

The important distinction is between a game being included in a collection and a later edition receiving a VR remaster. The HD Collection contains the first two games, but its PS3 and Xbox 360 release does not become VR-capable because M∀RS was released later on different platforms.
What VR adds in M∀RS
First-person Jehuty cockpit view
In the VR mode, the viewpoint moves inside Jehuty’s cockpit. This changes the presentation from watching the orbital frame in third person to occupying its pilot’s position. Konami’s launch announcement describes the experience as the full game in VR, with the high-speed mech-action campaign playable through the headset.
The complete campaign, not a separate demo
The VR support applies to the game itself. You are not limited to a test arena or a short technology showcase. The publisher’s 15 May 2018 announcement specifically contrasts third-person 4K combat with experiencing the full game in VR.

3D hangar
M∀RS includes a 3D hangar where you can interact with Jehuty. This is an additional VR-oriented space rather than a replacement for the campaign. It gives the mech a dedicated viewing environment outside normal combat stages.
Jehuty model viewer
A separate 3D model viewer lets you examine Jehuty as a detailed object. The viewer is part of the added presentation content identified by Konami, so it should not be confused with the standard game’s story or combat missions.
Cinematic theater
After you complete the game, M∀RS unlocks a cinematic theater. It allows story sequences to be replayed with their cut-scenes in VR. Because the theater is tied to completion, it is an end-of-campaign feature rather than something the announcement promises to be available immediately.
What is confirmed on each platform?
PS4 and PlayStation VR
For console players, the confirmed combination is the PS4 edition of M∀RS and a PlayStation VR headset. Konami’s product page lists both PS4 and PlayStation VR, and the PlayStation Store has a corresponding M∀RS listing. When checking a listing, the title must include “M∀RS”; a PS3 HD Collection listing is a different product and does not provide the same support.

PC and Steam
On PC, the confirmed release is M∀RS through Steam. The Steam product information describes VR support, making it the appropriate edition for a PC headset setup. The evidence establishes Steam VR support at the product level, but it does not provide a universal hardware-performance guarantee for every computer. Your PC still needs to meet the headset manufacturer’s requirements for the particular headset and operating environment.
PSVR2 is not established
The confirmed wording is PS4/PlayStation VR and PC/Steam VR. The official material identified for this version does not establish PSVR2 compatibility. Do not assume that a PSVR2 headset will run the PS4 version, and do not describe PSVR2 support as guaranteed without a newer, explicit announcement or store listing.
How the releases fit together
The original games
The first Zone of the Enders and the original The 2nd Runner are earlier releases. Cygames identifies The 2nd Runner as the title that was later remastered as M∀RS. That relationship explains why the names look similar, but it does not make the original disc or download a VR build.

The 2012 HD Collection
Konami’s HD Collection page lists PS3 and Xbox 360 and gives 30 November 2012 as the European release date. It packages the two earlier games in high-definition form for those consoles. The collection predates M∀RS and is not listed as a PlayStation VR product.

The M∀RS remaster
M∀RS is the later release built around The 2nd Runner. Its platform list, VR cockpit mode, and additional 3D spaces are the identifying features that separate it from both the original game and the HD Collection.
How to identify the correct edition before buying or downloading
- Check the complete title. Look for ZONE OF THE ENDERS: The 2nd RUNNER – M∀RS. “Zone of the Enders,” “The 2nd Runner,” or “HD Collection” alone is not enough to identify the VR remaster.
- Check the platform label. The confirmed console route is PS4 with PlayStation VR. The confirmed computer route is PC through Steam.
- Read the feature text. A correct listing should mention VR support or PlayStation VR/Steam VR. A listing that only says PS3, Xbox 360, or HD Collection is describing an older release.
- Separate headset support from visual resolution. M∀RS can be presented in third-person 4K, but 4K wording by itself does not mean a listing includes VR.
- Verify the headset generation. The established support statement names PlayStation VR, not PSVR2. Treat newer-headset compatibility as unconfirmed until the platform holder or publisher states it.
Common mistakes and what they mean
“The HD Collection contains the game, so it must contain VR.”
It does not follow. The collection is a 2012 PS3/Xbox 360 release, while M∀RS is the later PS4/PC remaster with the VR additions. The shared underlying game does not give the older release the newer edition’s features.
“The original 2003 disc should work with a headset.”
The original The 2nd Runner is the source game for the remaster, not the remaster itself. The official identification of M∀RS as the VR version does not extend headset support backward to the original release.

Platform generation matters. The confirmed console listing is PS4 with PlayStation VR. A PS3 HD Collection copy is not interchangeable with that release.

The campaign’s VR mode is available as part of M∀RS, but the cinematic theater is described as unlocking after completion. The hangar and model viewer are additional spaces, not evidence that every VR feature appears at the opening screen.
Which version should you choose?

If VR is the deciding factor, choose M∀RS first and then select the platform that matches your headset. If preserving the original console versions is the priority, the HD Collection or original release may be appropriate, but those choices should be made with the understanding that official headset-VR support has not been identified for them.
What the official evidence does—and does not—confirm
Konami’s product information and 2018 launch announcement establish the M∀RS edition, its PS4/PlayStation VR and PC/Steam platforms, the first-person cockpit perspective, and the additional VR spaces. The PlayStation Store and Steam listings corroborate the platform-specific release descriptions. Konami’s HD Collection page establishes the older PS3 and Xbox 360 package, while Cygames identifies the original The 2nd Runner as the game remastered as M∀RS.
