Neither cross-play nor cross-progression has been announced for Waltz and Jam. The game is planned for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, but the official materials reviewed do not say players can join one another across platforms or carry a save from one platform to another. The announced worldwide release date is December 3, 2026, so features may still be clarified or changed before launch.
What cross-play and cross-progression would mean
Cross-play lets players using different platforms play together in the same multiplayer session. For example, it would let a Steam player join a friend playing on PlayStation 5, if the game supported that setup. Cross-progression lets a player continue the same game progress on a different platform, typically by linking accounts or syncing a shared save.
These are separate features. A game can support one without the other, both, or neither. A platform’s cloud-save service is also a separate feature: it can back up or sync saves within that platform’s ecosystem without making those saves usable on another platform.

What the announced versions tell us
KRAFTON Japan announced Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions together with a planned worldwide release date of December 3, 2026. Its announcement does not specify cross-play or cross-progression. The Steam and Nintendo listings provide some player-count and save-feature information, but neither describes cross-platform play or save transfer.

Does the game let you play with friends on another platform?
There is no official confirmation of cross-play. The available store information points to a single-player experience: Steam labels the game “Single-player,” and Nintendo lists one player on a single system for Switch 2. Those listings do not describe a multiplayer mode, online sessions, or cross-platform matchmaking.
The story may feature characters who cooperate, but that does not establish that two people can play together. Until an official listing or developer announcement says otherwise, do not plan on joining a friend in a session—whether that friend is on another platform or the same one.

The existing evidence is store metadata and a platform announcement, not a definitive statement ruling out every possible feature at launch. The accurate status is that multiplayer and cross-play have not been announced in the official materials reviewed as of October 13, 2026.

Will your save transfer between Steam, PS5, and Switch 2?
Cross-progression has not been announced. Steam Cloud and Nintendo Switch Online Save Data Cloud are listed as cloud-save features for their respective platforms. Neither listing says that a save can be moved to or continued on another platform, and the platform announcement does not describe a shared account or cross-platform save system.

Cloud backup can help preserve a save within the service or platform for which it is offered. It is not, by itself, evidence that the same progress will work on Steam, PS5, and Switch 2. The Nintendo listing specifically identifies its service as save-data cloud functionality and requires Nintendo Switch Online membership for that feature; it does not claim cross-platform transfer.
What to check before choosing a platform
- If you want to play with a friend: wait for an official announcement that identifies multiplayer and says which platforms can join the same session. Current listings do not establish that capability.
- If you may switch platforms later: do not assume you can carry your save over. Look for explicit confirmation of cross-progression, supported platforms, and any account-linking requirements.
- If you want cloud backup: distinguish that from cross-progression. Steam lists Steam Cloud; Nintendo lists Nintendo Switch Online Save Data Cloud and requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership for that backup feature.
- If you are considering Steam: the Steam listing recommends a controller, but using one does not add multiplayer, cross-play, or cross-progression.
Release timing and how the answer could change
The planned worldwide release date announced by KRAFTON Japan is December 3, 2026. That date is in the future relative to the official information checked on October 13, 2026. A later announcement or updated store listing could clarify launch features, so the status may change. Until then, treat both cross-play and cross-progression as unconfirmed rather than promised features.
