Yes. NVIDIA is still publishing software for the SHIELD TV family. The latest official release notes identified for this article are for SHIELD Experience 9.2.4, whose security patches are updated to January 2026. NVIDIA also says upgrades are pushed to SHIELD devices and can be checked manually.
That confirms active maintenance as of the latest published notes. It does not establish a guaranteed future release schedule or an end-of-support date, so owners should treat 9.2.4 as evidence of current support rather than a promise of support for a particular number of years.
What the latest SHIELD update tells you
SHIELD Experience 9.2.4 is the newest version listed in NVIDIA’s official SHIELD software material reviewed for this status check. The release notes identify security patches current through January 2026 and list several fixes affecting playback, remotes, sleep behavior and system settings.

A February 2026 report from TechRadar separately described NVIDIA’s position that all SHIELD TV models continue to receive software updates and remain supported. That report is secondary coverage; the 9.2.4 release notes are the primary evidence for the update itself.
What SHIELD Experience 9.2.4 fixes
NVIDIA’s notes describe targeted corrections rather than a large redesign. If you use any of the affected functions, the update can address a problem you may have already encountered.
Disney+ playback
The release notes list a fix for Disney+ playback. The notes do not specify a single country, subscription tier or video format, so the safest interpretation is that 9.2.4 improves the reported playback problem across supported configurations without promising that every Disney+ issue is eliminated.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Xbox-related third-party remote connections after sleep
NVIDIA fixed a problem in which a third-party remote connection involving Xbox could fail after the SHIELD woke from sleep. If the remote worked before sleep but stopped responding afterward, installing 9.2.4 is the supported software remedy identified in the notes.
Unexpected wake-ups involving SHIELD and HDMI-CEC devices
Another fix addresses SHIELD and HDMI-CEC devices turning on while the SHIELD was supposed to be asleep. HDMI-CEC allows devices to send power and input commands over HDMI, so this correction is relevant to owners whose television or other CEC-equipped hardware powered up unexpectedly.

Frequent disconnects from third-party Bluetooth remotes
Version 9.2.4 includes a fix for frequent disconnects affecting third-party Bluetooth remotes. This is distinct from the Xbox-after-sleep issue: one concerns reconnecting after sleep, while the other concerns repeated Bluetooth disconnections during normal use.
NVIDIA Share closing the settings page
The notes also identify a settings-page closure problem triggered when NVIDIA Share was used. The fix is relevant if opening or activating Share caused the settings screen to close instead of completing the requested action.

NVIDIA describes two supported ways to obtain system upgrades: automatic delivery to the device and a manual check from Settings. Menu wording can vary slightly by software build, but the documented path is precise.
- Open Settings on the SHIELD TV Pro.
- Select Device Preferences.
- Open About.
- Select System upgrade.
- Allow the device to check for an available release, then follow the on-screen installation instructions if one is offered.
NVIDIA also describes enabling automatic upgrades in this same area. With automatic upgrades enabled, the device can receive a pushed release without you starting a manual check. A manual check remains useful when you want to verify the installed version or confirm whether an update is available immediately.
If the update screen does not show 9.2.4
First confirm that the SHIELD is connected to the internet, then return to Settings > Device Preferences > About > System upgrade and run the check again. Read the result literally: a message that the system is up to date means the device is not currently being offered a newer package through that check, while an available package should present installation instructions.

- Works with SHIELD TV 2015/2017/2019 models. Requires upgrade to the latest SHIELD Experience.
- Easy to use in the most darkly lit room. Pick up the remote and the buttons will instantly light up.
- Press the microphone button to access the powerful Google Assistant on your Android TV. Search for new movies, TV shows, or YouTube videos, look up stock prices, or check your commute time, all on your SHIELD TV.
- Customize your menu button with more than 25 choices. Launch your favorite app, enable AI upscaling, or mute your sound, or more! Different options can be applied to up to 3 actions: single press, double press, long press.
- Control your home entertainment center with SHIELD Remote’s built in IR blaster. Control volume, power, or input source.
Write down the version shown on the About screen before troubleshooting further. That prevents confusing an application update with a SHIELD system update. If the device repeatedly fails during installation, restart it and retry the official system-upgrade check. Persistent errors should be taken to NVIDIA support with the displayed version and any error text.

Which SHIELD TV models are covered?
NVIDIA’s developer resources list software materials for SHIELD TV editions released in 2015, 2017 and 2019. The same resource area lists a recovery image for the 2019 SHIELD TV Pro with 16 GB of storage. Those listings corroborate that NVIDIA still maintains resources across the product family, although a developer resource page is not itself the announcement of SHIELD Experience 9.2.4.
The 2019 Pro model is therefore within the documented SHIELD TV support family. Owners of earlier SHIELD hardware should identify their exact model before applying any recovery material, because a file intended for the 2019 16 GB Pro is not evidence that it should be installed on a different edition.
Software support versus accessory support
System-update support concerns the SHIELD operating system. It does not mean every accessory has identical behavior on every model. NVIDIA’s material specifically discusses support for its 2019 remote, while the 9.2.4 notes separately mention fixes for third-party remotes. If a remote is your problem, record whether it is NVIDIA’s 2019 remote, an Xbox-related device or another Bluetooth model before diagnosing the issue.
What the January 2026 security-patch date means
The January 2026 date identifies how current the security fixes in SHIELD Experience 9.2.4 were when NVIDIA published the release notes. It is not a guarantee that every Android application, streaming service or network component on the device has January 2026 security coverage. Applications can follow their own update schedules, and a service can change requirements independently of the SHIELD system.

- Up to 4K HDR with Dolby Vision delivers captivating, true-to-life detail[4]; and you can connect speakers that support Dolby Atmos for more immersive 3D sound
It is also important not to turn a patch date into a promise about longevity. NVIDIA’s published material confirms a recent patch and active delivery mechanisms, but it does not state how frequently future patches will arrive, how many more major releases are planned or when support will end.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you replace a SHIELD TV Pro just to keep getting updates?
No replacement is required solely because you want to receive system updates: the 9.2.4 release demonstrates that the SHIELD TV line is still being maintained. Keeping the existing Pro is reasonable when its current apps, remote setup, picture and audio capabilities meet your needs.
A replacement decision should instead start with a concrete limitation you are experiencing. Consider these questions:
- Does the service or app you need run on the installed SHIELD software?
- Are playback, Bluetooth or HDMI-CEC problems addressed by the 9.2.4 fixes?
- Is the difficulty caused by the SHIELD system, an individual app or an accessory?
- Do you need hardware capabilities that a software update cannot add?
If your only concern is whether NVIDIA still publishes updates, the current evidence supports keeping the device and checking for 9.2.4. If a required application has dropped support, or if your hardware needs have changed, an update alone may not solve that separate problem.

Using NVIDIA’s recovery resources safely
The NVIDIA Developer resource listing includes recovery materials for multiple SHIELD TV generations and specifically identifies a recovery image for the 2019 SHIELD TV Pro 16 GB. Recovery resources are useful for serious software problems, but they are different from the normal over-the-air upgrade path in Settings.
Use the ordinary System upgrade check for a routine update. Consult recovery documentation only when NVIDIA’s instructions match your exact model and the normal update process cannot resolve the problem. Do not select a file merely because it mentions SHIELD TV; match the edition and storage configuration shown in the documentation and on your device.
What is established—and what is not
The evidence supports four practical conclusions:
- NVIDIA has published SHIELD Experience 9.2.4.
- That release lists security patches through January 2026.
- The notes document fixes for Disney+ playback, remote connectivity, Bluetooth stability, HDMI-CEC wake behavior and an NVIDIA Share settings problem.
- NVIDIA provides both pushed updates and a manual check at Settings > Device Preferences > About > System upgrade.
The same material does not establish a future update calendar, a guaranteed support duration or an end-of-support date. Any claim that the SHIELD TV Pro will receive updates for a specific number of additional years would go beyond what NVIDIA has published.
Quick Recap
A practical update checklist
- Open Settings > Device Preferences > About and note the installed SHIELD Experience version.
- Select System upgrade and check for a newer package.
- If 9.2.4 is offered, read the release information and start the installation from the on-screen prompt.
- After installation, return to the About screen and verify the version before testing the feature that prompted the update.
- For Disney+, remotes, Bluetooth or HDMI-CEC, reproduce the original problem only after the system has completed its update and restart cycle.
- If no package appears or installation fails repeatedly, record the exact message and contact NVIDIA support rather than using an unverified image.
