Yes. Logitech lists the MX Master 4 for Windows and macOS, and the mouse can be paired with up to three computers. You can connect over Bluetooth or with a Logi Bolt USB-C receiver, then switch the active computer with Easy-Switch.
Basic pointing, clicking and scrolling work without Logitech software. Programmable controls, Actions Ring shortcuts and configurable haptic features require Logi Options+. The exact operating-system requirements and included receiver depend on whether you buy the standard, Mac or Business variant.
What the MX Master 4 supports
The MX Master 4 is designed for mixed-computer setups rather than a single platform. Logitech documents support for Windows and macOS, with two connection methods: Bluetooth and a Logi Bolt USB-C receiver. A single mouse can store connections for up to three computers, and the Easy-Switch control selects which saved channel is active.

Without Logi Options+, the core mouse functions remain available. Logitech software is needed when you want to remap buttons, configure the Actions Ring, assign application-specific commands or adjust supported haptic behavior.
Mac compatibility
Bluetooth connection on a Mac
Logitech’s Mac quick-start instructions use Bluetooth pairing. Turn on the mouse, choose an Easy-Switch channel, and hold the Easy-Switch button for about three seconds when that channel needs to enter discovery mode. On the Mac, open Apple menu > System Settings > Bluetooth, find “MX Master 4,” and select Connect.
If the mouse was already paired to another computer on that channel, put the channel back into discovery mode before searching. A short Easy-Switch press changes channels; a long press is for making the selected channel discoverable.
Using a receiver with a Mac
A Logi Bolt receiver is another documented option. Plug the receiver into an available USB-C port, or use a compatible adapter or dock if your Mac lacks a suitable port. Follow Logitech’s device-setup prompt if the mouse does not connect automatically. Verify the package contents before assuming a receiver is included, because accessories can differ by product variant and region.

What works without software
On macOS, basic cursor movement, button clicks, scrolling and ordinary pointing functions do not depend on Logi Options+. Install the current Mac version of Logi Options+ if you need custom button assignments, Actions Ring controls or haptic settings. Software availability does not make every advanced feature universal: individual functions can depend on the mouse firmware and the macOS version.
Windows compatibility
Bluetooth connection on Windows
Switch on the mouse and select the Easy-Switch channel you want to use. Hold Easy-Switch for roughly three seconds to start pairing, then open Settings > Bluetooth & devices in Windows and choose Add device > Bluetooth. Select “MX Master 4” from the list and complete pairing.
After pairing, a short press of Easy-Switch moves between the saved channels. If Windows cannot find the mouse, repeat the three-second discovery press on the intended channel and search again.
Logi Bolt on Windows
Insert the Logi Bolt USB-C receiver and allow Windows to detect it. Logitech’s setup guide says to follow the device-setup steps if the connection is not automatic. The receiver method can be useful on computers without reliable Bluetooth, or in workplaces where Bluetooth is restricted.

Windows-only advanced behavior
Logitech describes native advanced haptics integration for Windows 11 and ties that support to a current Windows update. Because operating-system and firmware support can change, check Logitech’s current MX Master 4 support notes before relying on a specific Windows 11 haptic feature.
How pairing with three computers works
The mouse has three Easy-Switch channels. Logitech’s “Getting Started – MX Master 4” guide states: “Your mouse can be paired with up to three different computers using the easy-switch button to change the channel.”
- Choose a channel. Press Easy-Switch briefly until the channel indicator for the computer you want is selected.
- Enter discovery mode. Hold Easy-Switch for about three seconds if that channel is new or needs to be paired again.
- Pair the computer. Use the computer’s Bluetooth settings, or connect through the Logi Bolt receiver and follow the setup prompt.
- Repeat for the remaining channels. Select a different channel and pair the second and third computers separately.
- Switch during work. Press Easy-Switch briefly to move to another paired computer. Give the computer a moment to recognize the active channel before moving the pointer.
The hardware button is the straightforward switching method in Logitech’s setup instructions. Logi Options+ can also assign Easy-Switch behavior to the Actions Ring, but that software customization is optional and does not replace the basic hardware workflow.

Both methods are documented by Logitech. They are connection choices, not two different mouse models. Check the computer’s available radio and ports before buying, and check the exact box contents rather than assuming every listing includes the same receiver.

What Logi Options+ adds
Logi Options+ is available for Windows and macOS. The mouse remains usable without it, but the application unlocks the features that make the MX Master line more configurable.
- Programmable controls: assign different actions to buttons instead of keeping the factory defaults.
- Actions Ring: configure a radial shortcut interface for commands you use often, and optionally assign Easy-Switch behavior to it.
- Haptic customization: adjust supported haptic feedback settings through the application.
- Per-app workflows: create different assignments for compatible applications when the current software version supports them.
Logitech’s Ergo Lab reports that Actions Ring shortcuts produced up to 33% time saved and up to 63% fewer mouse movements in a 2025 study of 37 MX Master mouse users performing eight desktop actions. Those are Logitech-reported, upper-bound results, and the company notes that outcomes vary with the shortcuts assigned; they are not a guaranteed result for every user.

Do not treat every “MX Master 4” listing as an identical package. Logitech presents standard consumer, Mac and Business versions with different product-page details.

If a minimum version is decisive for your purchase, open the current Logitech support page for the exact model number. OS and firmware requirements can change, and the detailed Business specification is not a universal requirement for every consumer MX Master 4.

Setup checklist before you buy
- Identify whether the listing is standard, Mac or Business.
- Confirm your computer has Bluetooth, or confirm that you have the correct Logi Bolt receiver and a usable USB-C connection.
- Check the current Logitech OS requirements for that exact variant.
- Decide whether you need only basic mouse functions or software features such as programmable controls and haptics.
- Check the package contents for the receiver instead of assuming it is included.
- Install the current Logi Options+ release if you need customization.
Troubleshooting pairing and switching
The mouse does not appear in Bluetooth settings
- Press Easy-Switch briefly to select the intended channel.
- Hold Easy-Switch for approximately three seconds to put that channel into discovery mode.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on again on the computer, then search for “MX Master 4.”
- If the channel was previously used by another computer, remove the old pairing from that computer or choose an unused channel.
The receiver is connected but the mouse is not responding
- Unplug and reconnect the Logi Bolt receiver directly to the computer rather than through an unpowered hub.
- Confirm that the receiver belongs to the mouse and that the port, dock or adapter supports the connection.
- Select the channel associated with the receiver using a short Easy-Switch press.
- Follow Logitech’s on-screen setup steps if automatic connection does not occur.
Basic movement works but custom controls do not
This normally indicates that the mouse is paired correctly but Logi Options+ is not installed, is out of date, or lacks permission to apply settings. Install or update the Windows or Mac app, check that the MX Master 4 appears in the device list, and apply the assignments again. A software-dependent feature should not be expected from the operating system’s generic mouse driver alone.
Switching selects the wrong computer
Each computer is tied to a channel, not to a name displayed on the mouse. Select the channel you originally paired with that computer. If you reused a channel, pair it again and record which channel belongs to each computer.
Is it a good fit for a multi-computer desk?
The MX Master 4 fits a multi-device workflow when you want one full-size mouse shared by up to three computers and you are comfortable changing channels. Bluetooth keeps laptops uncluttered; Logi Bolt is useful when a desktop or managed computer needs a receiver. The main buying decision is not Mac versus Windows compatibility—both are supported—but whether your chosen variant, ports, OS version and desired software features line up.
For simple pointing and scrolling, pair the mouse and use it. For custom shortcuts, Actions Ring workflows or haptic controls, plan to install Logi Options+ on each computer where those settings are needed and verify current platform requirements first.
