Short answer: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a single-player game. Nintendo’s US product listing specifies “Single system (1)” and does not advertise local or online multiplayer. The same listing includes Save Data Cloud, but Nintendo Support says a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use that backup feature.

Save Data Cloud is not the same thing as cross-save. The cited Nintendo pages establish cloud backup for the game, but they do not establish that a save can be synchronized across different platforms. The supplied name “Echoes of Hyrule” does not match Nintendo’s official title, so this article uses The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

What Nintendo officially lists

Nintendo’s US product page is the clearest reference for the game’s supported features. It identifies The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom as a Nintendo Switch title released on September 26, 2024. Under player information, it gives the mode as “Single system (1)”. Under online features, it lists “Save Data Cloud.” Those are separate specifications: one describes how many people can play on a system, while the other describes backup of saved data.

You can verify the listing at Nintendo’s official product page for Echoes of Wisdom. Because the evidence comes from Nintendo’s US store, labels and service availability can vary by region.

Does Echoes of Wisdom have multiplayer?

No multiplayer mode is listed. Nintendo specifies one player on a single system, and the official listing does not advertise online co-op, local co-op, competitive play, or a second-player mode.

That means the game is designed for one person to control Zelda and progress through the adventure. A second controller does not become a supported co-op player simply because the console can pair multiple controllers. Likewise, a Nintendo Switch Online membership does not add multiplayer to the game; the membership is relevant to the cloud-backup feature described below.

The most precise wording is “Nintendo lists the game as single-player.” The cited product page does not need a separate denial of every possible multiplayer experiment: its published player specification is one person on one system, with no multiplayer feature advertised.

What “Save Data Cloud” means here

Save Data Cloud is a backup service for compatible Nintendo Switch software. It can preserve a copy of supported save data online so that the data can be downloaded again under Nintendo’s cloud-save system. It is a safeguard for saved progress, not a mode in which two players enter the same game world.

For Echoes of Wisdom, Nintendo’s listing confirms that the title is included in the category of software with Save Data Cloud support. That confirmation answers the cloud-backup question, but it does not describe every transfer scenario. In particular, the listing does not say that the game synchronizes saves with a different console family, a PC version, a competing platform, or any other edition.

Do you need Nintendo Switch Online?

Yes. Nintendo Support states that a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use Save Data Cloud. Without that membership, the listing’s cloud feature should not be treated as an available backup method.

Nintendo’s support article explains how to identify whether a game supports cloud backup and where to look for the relevant label: How To Identify If a Game Supports Save Data Cloud Backup. Membership and service availability can be affected by region, account status, or changes to Nintendo’s service policies, so check the current support page if the option is missing.

Cloud backup versus cross-save

These terms are often used interchangeably, but they describe different capabilities.

Feature What it would mean What the cited Nintendo information establishes
Single-player One person plays the game on a system. Nintendo lists “Single system (1).”
Save Data Cloud A supported save can be backed up and downloaded through Nintendo’s cloud service. Nintendo lists Save Data Cloud for the game; Nintendo Support requires Nintendo Switch Online.
Cross-save The same progress is synchronized between different platforms or separate versions of a game. Not established by the cited Nintendo pages.
Multiplayer Two or more players participate in the same game session. Not advertised; the listing specifies one player.

A cloud backup can help recover or move supported data within Nintendo’s own ecosystem, but the presence of a cloud label alone is not proof of cross-platform synchronization. A reader should not promise that a Switch save will appear on another platform merely because the game supports Save Data Cloud.

How to check cloud-save support yourself

Nintendo provides several official places to verify the label. The wording can change as store interfaces are updated, but the following paths are the ones described by Nintendo Support.

  1. Check the Nintendo eShop: open the game’s page, then view its Software Details. Look for the Save Data Cloud information in the feature or service details.
  2. Check the Nintendo Store: open the game’s listing and review the About this item section. Nintendo uses this area to identify supported features.
  3. Check the software menu: highlight the game from the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu, open its available options, and look for the save-data-cloud information or backup controls.
  4. Confirm membership: if the game is marked as compatible but cloud controls are unavailable, verify that the Nintendo Switch Online membership requirement is met for the account and region being used.

These checks tell you whether Nintendo currently identifies the software as cloud-compatible. They do not turn cloud backup into a guarantee of synchronization with a non-Nintendo platform.

What is known about moving a save between Switch systems?

The available official material confirms cloud backup support, but it does not provide a game-specific promise about every console-to-console transfer path. Treat the feature as Nintendo cloud backup for supported data, and follow the on-screen Nintendo instructions for the system and account you are actually using.

  • In this new installment of The Legend of Zelda range, it's up to Zelda and her wisdom to save the kingdom of Hyrule. Its inhabitants disappear into strange cracks - and with them a very specific sword fighter.

  • Creativity is the key to success: discover the power of Tri-Stab and create imitations of objects and creatures, so-called echoes. Use these echoes to overcome obstacles and take over in battle.
  • Beautifully designed world full of secrets and captivating story full of adventures.

If your goal is to continue on another Nintendo Switch, first verify that Echoes of Wisdom still shows the Save Data Cloud label in the eShop or software details. Then use Nintendo’s current cloud-backup controls rather than assuming that a local save, a game card, or a downloaded copy automatically creates a cross-save. The cited pages do not state that every local transfer method, edition, or account arrangement is supported for this title.

What changes with Nintendo Switch 2?

Nintendo Support says that Switch software compatible with Nintendo Switch 2 can have save data backed up and downloaded on either system. It also cautions that features or content added specifically for Switch 2 may not be accessible when that save data is used on a Nintendo Switch.

This is general Nintendo guidance for compatible Switch software. It should not be read as proof that Echoes of Wisdom has Switch 2-exclusive content, nor as a statement that the game supports cross-platform saves beyond Nintendo’s compatible-system backup process. The product listing and support article cited here do not identify any particular Echoes of Wisdom feature that is exclusive to Switch 2.

Common misunderstandings

“Save Data Cloud” does not mean online co-op

The cloud label concerns stored progress. It does not add a second player, online matchmaking, or a shared world. Echoes of Wisdom remains listed as one player on one system.

A Nintendo Switch Online subscription does not unlock multiplayer

The membership is required for the cloud-backup service. Nintendo’s listing does not say that a subscription changes the player count or enables a multiplayer mode.

A backup is not automatically a cross-platform save

Cross-save requires an explicit mechanism for sharing progress between platforms or versions. The cited Nintendo pages do not describe such a mechanism for Echoes of Wisdom, so the safest answer is that cross-platform support is unconfirmed rather than promised.

Two controllers do not establish a second-player mode

Console hardware can support multiple connected controllers, but the game’s published player specification remains “Single system (1).” Controller pairing and game-level multiplayer support are different things.

A practical checklist before relying on the cloud

  • Confirm that you are looking at The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, not a similarly named listing.
  • Check the current Nintendo eShop Software Details or the Nintendo Store’s About this item section for Save Data Cloud.
  • Make sure the Nintendo Switch Online requirement is satisfied before you need to restore a save.
  • Do not delete a local save until Nintendo’s current instructions show that the desired backup exists and is available to download.
  • If the option is absent, check the game’s software menu and Nintendo’s support guidance; regional or service changes can affect what is displayed.
  • If you are moving between Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, confirm compatibility and remember Nintendo’s warning that Switch 2-added features may not be available when the data is used on Nintendo Switch.
  • For a different platform, look for a separate official statement from Nintendo or the publisher. The cloud label alone is insufficient evidence of cross-platform synchronization.

Regional and edition caveats

The player-count and cloud-support evidence cited in this article comes from Nintendo’s US product listing. Nintendo stores and support pages can present different wording in other countries, and online-service terms can change. If your regional listing does not show the same feature, use that region’s official product page and support documentation as the controlling reference.

The game’s release date, September 26, 2024, identifies the title covered here; it does not imply that every later hardware or service update is included in the original listing. Check the current software details when making a transfer or backup decision.

Bottom line for buyers and players

Echoes of Wisdom is a single-player Nintendo Switch game: Nintendo lists “Single system (1)” and no multiplayer feature. It does support Save Data Cloud according to the official product listing, but Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use that backup service.

That cloud support should be described narrowly. It confirms Nintendo-backed save backup, not a cross-platform save system. The cited official pages do not establish that Echoes of Wisdom synchronizes progress between different platforms, so do not buy or subscribe expecting cross-platform continuation unless Nintendo publishes a separate, explicit statement.
