Yes. The Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty dock moves the robot’s debris into a disposable bag. When that bag is full—or the dock’s indicator or Roomba Home app tells you to replace it—you remove it and install a new bag. The Roomba 105 uses the newer cardboard evac-bag family for LiDAR-based robots in the 100/1000 Series dock range, not the older plastic bags made for classic models.
What the Roomba 105 AutoEmpty dock does
The Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty system has two separate dirt containers: the robot’s onboard bin and a larger disposal bag inside the dock. During ordinary cleaning, dust and debris collect in the robot. When the robot returns to its dock, the dock transfers that debris into the installed bag. The bag remains in the dock until it needs replacement.
This is different from a bagless base that stores debris in a washable container. The Roomba 105 dock is designed around a replaceable bag, so an empty dock still needs a correctly installed bag before automatic emptying can work as intended.

- The robot finishes or pauses a cleaning job. It returns to the AutoEmpty dock using its normal docking routine.
- The dock evacuates the robot’s collected debris. Dirt from the robot’s bin is transferred into the disposable bag in the base.
- The bag stores the debris. You do not normally empty this bag by hand. It stays in the dock until it is full or replacement is indicated.
- You replace the bag. Follow the dock or Roomba Home app prompt, remove the used bag, and fit a new one before relying on automatic emptying again.
iRobot’s published guidance explains the bag-based transfer and replacement process but does not specify the dock’s internal airflow layout, emptying schedule, sensor design, sound level, or a guaranteed number of cleaning cycles. Those details should not be inferred from the AutoEmpty name.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
When to change the disposal bag
Replace the bag when the dock’s LED indicator or the Roomba Home app prompts you. A bag can also become functionally full before a normal cleaning routine completes. iRobot’s troubleshooting guidance notes that a full bag can prevent proper emptying, so a robot that returns to the base but leaves debris in its onboard bin is a reason to check the bag.
Signs that replacement is due
- The dock or app displays a bag-replacement notice.
- The dock’s LED indicator signals that the bag needs attention.
- The robot’s bin is still dirty after it has docked and attempted to empty.
- The bag looks full or cannot accept more debris.
Do not wait for a specific day count if the indicator appears sooner. Household dust, pet hair, floor area, and cleaning frequency all affect how quickly the bag fills.
How to replace a Roomba 105 dock bag
- Open the AutoEmpty dock. Use the dock’s lid or bag compartment access point.
- Remove the used bag. Lift it out by its bag handle or tab so the opening closes as designed, then place the used bag in household trash.
- Check the compartment. Remove loose debris around the bag seat so the replacement can sit flat.
- Insert the new bag in the correct orientation. Slide the bag into its holder until it is fully seated.
- Close the dock lid securely. The support instructions specifically call for correct bag seating and a securely closed lid.
- Run the next emptying cycle or check the app. If the robot’s bin still does not empty, reopen the dock and verify the bag is seated and the lid is closed.
Use the dock’s replacement indication as the practical trigger. iRobot does not publish a universal replacement interval for every home, so a calendar reminder based on someone else’s usage is less reliable than the dock or app status.

Which replacement bag fits the Roomba 105?
For the Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty dock, choose the newer cardboard evac bag identified for LiDAR-based robots using the new Roomba Home App. iRobot places the Roomba 105 Robot + AutoEmpty Dock in the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty dock family.
| Bag family | Roomba 105 compatibility | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Newer cardboard evac bag | Listed as compatible | Packaging or listing names the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty dock family and the Roomba 105 Vac Robot + AutoEmpty Dock. |
| Older plastic bag for classic models | Not the stated Roomba 105 family | Descriptions identify classic-model compatibility rather than the newer 100/1000 Series dock. |
| Clean Base and AutoWash three-pack listed for older docks | Roomba 105 is not listed | Do not treat this separate compatibility listing as proof that the bags fit a Roomba 105 dock. |
The safest purchase check is the exact dock family, not a generic phrase such as “Roomba replacement bag.” Bag shapes and mounting tabs can differ between generations. If a listing does not name the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty family or the Roomba 105 dock, verify compatibility before ordering.
Why the older classic-model bag is a problem
iRobot’s support information distinguishes the newer cardboard evac bag from an older plastic bag intended for classic models. That distinction means a bag that fits another Roomba base should not be assumed to fit the Roomba 105. A physically similar bag may fail to seal, sit incorrectly, or allow the dock to operate without transferring debris properly.

When comparing listings, record the model of the robot and the model or family of the dock. The robot name alone is not enough because one Roomba series can be sold with different base designs. Keep the old bag’s packaging until the replacement arrives if you are checking a retailer listing for the first time.
What “up to 75 days” means
iRobot advertises that the Roomba 105 AutoEmpty dock “Auto Empties for up to 75 days.” This is a manufacturer-stated maximum, not a promise that every household will go 75 days between bag changes. A home with shedding pets, frequent runs, large floor areas, or heavy tracked-in dirt can fill a bag sooner. The dock or app’s replacement indication takes priority over the advertised maximum.
Because no universal cleaning-cycle count is specified, do not convert 75 days into a guaranteed number of runs. Treat it as an upper-end convenience claim under conditions defined by iRobot, rather than as a service interval.

iRobot’s allergen claim for the bag
On the Roomba 105 Vac product page, iRobot says the bag traps “99% of allergens as small as 0.7 microns.” This is a manufacturer claim describing the bag. The available product information does not provide an independent laboratory result, test protocol, or household-performance guarantee for that figure.
For practical handling, keep the bag installed while the dock is operating, remove it by its designed handle or tab, and discard it rather than trying to empty it into another container. People with strong dust allergies may still want to limit exposure during replacement, because removing any full dust bag can release some debris.
The dock bag and the robot filter are different parts
The disposal bag is a dock consumable; the filter is a component of the robot’s own dirt system. iRobot lists one extra filter in the Roomba 105 box and advises cleaning or replacing the robot filter as needed. Replacing the dock bag does not replace or clean the robot filter.

No precise compatible replacement-filter stock-keeping unit is established in the available product information. If you need a new filter, confirm that a listing explicitly names the Roomba 105 before buying. Do not substitute the bag’s compatibility information for filter compatibility.

The app or LED says the bag needs replacing
Remove the used bag and install a new one. Confirm that the bag is fully seated and close the lid until it is secure. A replacement notice should not be ignored merely because the bag looks partly empty; the dock is indicating that service is needed.
The robot returns with debris still in its bin
First inspect the dock bag. If it is full, replace it. If it is not full, remove and reinstall it so it sits correctly, then close the lid securely. These are the checks identified in iRobot’s support troubleshooting guidance.
The problem continues after a new bag is installed
Recheck that you bought the newer 100/1000 Series-compatible bag rather than a classic-model plastic bag. Verify the robot is docking squarely and that the compartment is free of loose debris around the bag seat. If the app or LED still reports a fault after those checks, use iRobot’s support process for the Roomba 105 rather than forcing the dock to run without a bag.
A buying checklist for replacement bags
- Match the listing to the Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty dock.
- Look for the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty family or the newer cardboard evac-bag description.
- Avoid listings that identify only classic-model plastic bags.
- Do not assume a Clean Base or AutoWash three-pack fits unless the listing explicitly includes the Roomba 105 dock family.
- Check the retailer’s current compatibility text before checkout; product listings can change.
iRobot directs customers to its parts store or authorized retailers for replacement supplies. The important qualification is the dock family named on the current listing, not whether the word “Roomba” appears in the title.
What is and is not established about the Roomba 105 dock
| Question | Supported answer |
|---|---|
| Does the dock use a bag? | Yes. Debris is transferred into a disposable bag. |
| When should the bag be replaced? | When full or when the dock’s LED indicator or Roomba Home app prompts replacement. |
| How long will one bag last? | iRobot advertises up to 75 days; actual duration varies by household and is not guaranteed. |
| Which bag family is listed for the Roomba 105? | The newer cardboard evac bag for LiDAR-based robots in the 100/1000 Series Vac + AutoEmpty family. |
| Can the older classic plastic bag be assumed to fit? | No. iRobot identifies it for classic models rather than the Roomba 105’s stated family. |
| Is the 99% allergen figure independently verified here? | No. It is an iRobot product-page claim for allergens as small as 0.7 microns. |
| Is an exact Roomba 105 filter part number established? | No. Confirm the model-specific filter listing before purchase. |
Bottom line for owners
Plan to keep disposable bags on hand for the Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty dock. Install the newer 100/1000 Series-compatible cardboard evac bag, replace it when the dock or app indicates—or when a full bag stops emptying the robot—and make sure the bag and lid are seated correctly. The 75-day capacity and 99% allergen figures come from iRobot’s own product claims, so use them as qualified marketing specifications rather than guarantees for your home.
