Yes—on the documented AORUS MASTER 16 BZH, BYH, and BXH configurations. GIGABYTE specifies two expandable DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM sockets, supporting up to 64 GB of memory, plus two M.2 storage slots: one PCIe Gen5 and one PCIe Gen4. The stated storage ceiling is up to 4 TB of PCIe NVMe M.2 storage, although GIGABYTE cautions that regional configurations can differ. Check the model code on your particular laptop before buying parts; the compatibility document does not automatically cover every product sold as AORUS MASTER 16.
Which AORUS MASTER 16 models are covered?
The upgrade information applies specifically to the AORUS MASTER 16 AM6H configurations identified by GIGABYTE as BZH, BYH, and BXH. The company’s compatibility list names those model codes, so a different suffix or regional configuration should be treated as unconfirmed until its own specification and parts list are checked.
Find the complete model designation on the laptop’s bottom label, original packaging, purchase record, or system-information screen. Do not rely only on the words “AORUS MASTER 16.” A matching family name can include different motherboard layouts, preinstalled drives, or regional options.

RAM upgrade capability and compatible memory
Two replaceable DDR5-5600 SO-DIMMs
GIGABYTE describes the machine as having “2x SO-DIMM sockets for expansion.” Both sockets use DDR5-5600 laptop memory. Because the sockets are accessible expansion slots rather than soldered-only memory, you can replace the installed modules with higher-capacity parts, or populate an empty socket where the factory configuration leaves one available.

The official specification lists support for up to 64 GB. In practical terms, that limit corresponds to two 32 GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMMs, provided the exact laptop configuration and firmware accept that arrangement. A 16 GB plus 32 GB combination may function in some systems, but GIGABYTE’s compatibility guidance recommends identical modules, so a matched pair is the safer choice.
Examples from GIGABYTE’s compatibility sheet
- Crucial CT16G56C46S5: 16 GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM.
- Crucial CT32G56C46S5: 32 GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM.
These are examples documented by GIGABYTE, not a guarantee of current retail stock or a requirement to use one manufacturer. When selecting another module, match the DDR5 SO-DIMM format and 5600 rating, and preferably install two modules with the same capacity, speed, and timing specification.

What a RAM upgrade can and cannot change
More memory helps when applications, games, virtual machines, or browser tabs are exhausting the installed RAM and forcing the operating system to use the SSD as temporary storage. It does not turn the processor or graphics hardware into a faster model, and the advertised 64 GB figure is a platform limit rather than a performance guarantee. Memory may operate below its rated speed if the laptop’s firmware or processor imposes a lower setting; do not assume that installing a faster-rated module will make the system run faster than DDR5-5600.
SSD upgrade capability and the two M.2 interfaces
One Gen5 slot and one Gen4 slot
The AORUS MASTER 16 documentation identifies two M.2 storage positions: one PCIe Gen5 slot and one PCIe Gen4 slot. Both are intended for PCIe NVMe M.2 SSDs, but the interface generation differs. A Gen4 drive is the appropriate match for the Gen4 position, while a Gen5 drive can be installed in the Gen5 position. PCIe generations are generally backward compatible, yet the drive and slot will negotiate at the highest mode both support, so placing a Gen5 drive in a Gen4 slot does not create Gen5 bandwidth.

GIGABYTE lists up to 4 TB of PCIe NVMe M.2 storage. The specification also warns that capacities can vary by country and region, so treat 4 TB as the stated product ceiling rather than a promise that every retail configuration ships with that amount or that every regional part number has identical factory storage.
Examples in the compatibility list
- Phison PS5027, shown in 1 TB and 2 TB capacities, as a Gen4 example.
- Phison PS5031, shown in 1 TB and 2 TB capacities, as a Gen5 example.
Those entries demonstrate the kinds of drives GIGABYTE tested or listed; they are not a guarantee of present-day availability. For another SSD, verify the M.2 form factor, PCIe NVMe protocol, capacity, and intended slot generation. Do not substitute a SATA M.2 drive unless the exact laptop documentation explicitly says the socket supports SATA; the published AORUS MASTER 16 information specifies PCIe NVMe storage.

Choosing parts without creating a compatibility problem
RAM selection checklist
- Confirm the laptop model suffix is BZH, BYH, or BXH, or obtain model-specific confirmation for another suffix.
- Choose DDR5 SO-DIMM modules rated at 5600.
- Stay within the documented 64 GB total limit.
- Prefer two identical modules, especially when replacing both sticks.
- Check the module’s physical notch and voltage details against the seller’s laptop-memory specification; desktop UDIMMs are not interchangeable.
- Keep the original modules until the upgrade has passed a full memory check.
SSD selection checklist
- Identify whether you are using the PCIe Gen5 or PCIe Gen4 socket.
- Buy an M.2 PCIe NVMe drive in the form factor specified for the laptop.
- Check the drive’s thickness and heatsink arrangement so the bottom cover can close without pressure.
- Choose capacity based on the regional configuration and the stated up-to-4 TB platform limit.
- Back up the existing drive before cloning, replacing, or repartitioning it.
The interface label is a compatibility and capability detail, not a promise of a particular real-world speed increase. Actual throughput depends on the SSD controller, thermal conditions, firmware, workload, and whether the operating system is reading or writing sequential or random data.

- Back up first. Save important files to separate storage. If replacing the boot SSD, create a verified image or installation plan before opening the laptop.
- Confirm the parts. Recheck the model code, DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM specification, M.2 NVMe interface, capacity, and physical dimensions. Keep the original packaging in case a part must be returned.
- Shut down completely. Turn the computer off rather than suspending it, disconnect the charger and accessories, and hold the power button briefly after unplugging to discharge residual power. Work on a clean, static-controlled surface.
- Remove the bottom cover carefully. Use the correct precision screwdriver and keep screws organized by position. Do not force a panel or insert a tool near cables, speakers, or the display hinge.
- Disconnect the internal battery if the service documentation calls for it. Avoid pulling on wires; release the connector by its plug. If the battery cannot be safely disconnected, obtain professional service rather than guessing.
- Install memory. Spread the retaining clips, align the SO-DIMM notch with the socket key, insert the module at the socket’s angle, then press it down until both clips lock. Repeat for the second socket and confirm that neither module is tilted.
- Install or replace the SSD. Remove the retaining screw or cover, slide the M.2 drive into the connector at the insertion angle, lower it flat, and secure it with the original hardware. Keep any thermal pad or shield in its original position and do not overtighten the screw.
- Inspect before closing. Check that the modules are latched, the SSD is fully seated, no cable is trapped, and the battery connector and shields are restored. Refit the bottom cover without pinching wires.
- Boot and verify. Enter the firmware setup if necessary to confirm the new memory total and detected storage. In the operating system, initialize and format a new secondary drive or restore the cloned image to a replacement boot drive.
- Test stability. Run the operating system’s memory diagnostic or a trusted bootable memory test, copy a large set of files to the new SSD, and watch for errors, freezes, or unexpected drive disappearance before relying on the upgraded system.
What to check after the upgrade
If the new RAM is not detected
- Power off and reseat each module; a partially inserted SO-DIMM can leave the laptop unable to boot.
- Test one module at a time in each socket to identify a bad module or socket.
- Verify that the parts are DDR5 SO-DIMMs rather than DDR4 or desktop memory.
- Confirm the combined capacity does not exceed 64 GB and that the modules match the documented speed.
- Restore the original memory to determine whether the issue follows the new part.
If the SSD is missing
- Check firmware storage detection before troubleshooting the operating system or partition table.
- Reseat the drive and make sure its retaining screw is not preventing full insertion.
- Confirm that the drive is PCIe NVMe and installed in the intended Gen5 or Gen4 socket.
- Use the operating system’s disk-management utility to initialize a drive that appears in firmware but has no volume.
- If the laptop will not boot after replacing the original drive, restore the original or reinstall the operating system from verified recovery media.
When professional installation makes sense
GIGABYTE states that customer-supplied memory or storage may be installed for an additional cost through a service center or authorized service partner. The amount, eligibility, turnaround time, and availability depend on the local provider, so contact the relevant regional support channel before shipping or opening the laptop.
Professional service is especially sensible when the machine is under a warranty program with opening restrictions, when the bottom cover resists removal, or when the upgrade involves migrating an encrypted boot drive. Keep invoices and the original components, and ask the provider to confirm the installed capacity and interface in writing.
Important limits of the published specifications
- The 64 GB memory and 4 TB storage figures are manufacturer-stated maximums, not results from an independent performance test.
- Storage capacity and factory configurations may differ by country or region.
- The compatibility list is explicitly tied to BZH, BYH, and BXH; other AORUS MASTER 16 model codes require separate confirmation.
- The listed Crucial and Phison parts are examples in GIGABYTE’s document, not a promise of current retail availability.
- No particular gaming, application, boot-time, or benchmark improvement is guaranteed by adding memory or moving to a newer PCIe generation.
Verdict
The documented AORUS MASTER 16 models are designed for user-expandable memory and storage: two DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM sockets support up to 64 GB, and two PCIe NVMe M.2 positions provide one Gen5 and one Gen4 connection with up to 4 TB listed storage. Confirm the full model code and regional configuration first, select parts for the correct slot and interface, and use an authorized service partner if you are not comfortable opening the laptop.
