Don’t count on the Galaxy S23 Ultra box including a screen protector meant to stay on the display. Samsung lists a “front protector” as one of the phone’s packaging parts, but separately documented a dedicated screen protector accessory for continued use. Box contents can vary by country, region, model, and carrier.
What Samsung means by “front protector”
Samsung Global Newsroom’s 2023 packaging description lists six parts for the Galaxy S23 series: the packaging box, manual box, pulpy tray, front protector, back-cover protector, and data-link cable band. In that description, the front protector is identified as packaging—not as the separately documented screen-protector accessory.
So a thin film you encounter while unpacking should not be treated as confirmation that the phone came with a dedicated protector for ongoing use. The packaging description does not establish that every Galaxy S23 Ultra sold in every market has identical contents.

In an announcement dated April 20, 2023, Samsung Electronics Japan described a dedicated Galaxy S23 Ultra Screen Protector accessory. The product was a transparent film supplied with an installation set, and the announcement specified two front-film sheets in the package. Samsung Japan also described that film as compatible with fingerprint sensing and touch input; that claim applies to this accessory, not to every protector.

The announcement documents the product and its announced contents in Japan at that time. It does not establish current stock, price, or availability in other markets. If you want a protector for continued use, look for a Galaxy S23 Ultra screen protector that explicitly matches your phone’s model and market. Film and glass options, installation tools, and fit vary, so check the product details and fingerprint/touch compatibility before buying.

How to decide whether you need one
- If the phone arrives with a film on the display, don’t assume it is the dedicated accessory described by Samsung Japan or that it is intended to remain in place.
- If you want ongoing screen coverage, verify the exact phone model and choose a compatible protector suited to your preference for film or glass and installation method.
- If you are checking what came in a particular box, use the package contents for that unit and market rather than assuming all Galaxy S23 Ultra boxes are the same.
