Yes. Samsung lists NFC on the Galaxy A23 5G specifications for the United States and Philippines, and Samsung Indonesia also confirms NFC on the 5G model. The qualification is regional: those sources confirm specific versions, not every worldwide model number. If you have a particular phone, check its full model number against Samsung’s specifications for your country.
Which Galaxy A23 5G versions are confirmed to have NFC?
Samsung’s US specification sheet lists “NFC — Yes” for the Galaxy A23 5G, and Samsung Philippines lists the same feature for its product configuration. Samsung Indonesia also says the Galaxy A23 5G is equipped with NFC. These official listings support a yes for those markets.
They do not establish that every regional SKU is identical. Samsung cautions that supported models may vary slightly across markets, so do not rely on a listing for a different country to confirm your exact device. Check the regional product specifications using the phone’s full model number. Samsung’s update page, for example, identifies SM-A236E as a Galaxy A23 5G model; its software-update details do not by themselves confirm NFC for other model numbers.
How can you check NFC on your own phone?
- Search the phone’s Settings for “NFC.” If an NFC setting appears, check whether it can be enabled. Menu labels and layouts can differ, so this search is a practical check rather than a guaranteed path through every software version.
- Find the full model number in the phone’s device information or on its packaging.
- Look up that model number on Samsung’s regional product or support page and confirm that NFC is listed in the specifications.
If the regional specification page does not clearly identify NFC for your exact model, ask Samsung support for confirmation rather than inferring the feature from another country’s listing.

Does NFC mean the Galaxy A23 5G can make contactless payments?
NFC is the radio feature used for compatible tap-to-pay transactions, but having NFC does not guarantee that a particular payment service will work. Samsung lists the A23 among Samsung Pay-capable models, and its US specification sheet lists Samsung Pay for the configuration covered there. Samsung Spain described Samsung Wallet functionality on the A23 5G as NFC-only. Payment availability still depends on the device configuration, country, supported wallet, and participating bank or card.
Before relying on a phone for payments, check that the wallet service is available where you live and that it supports both your device and your bank or card. Samsung’s supported-country information also warns that model support can vary by market.

What to check when a listing or claim conflicts
- Match the model and market: A Galaxy A23 5G listing from another country may describe a different regional configuration.
- Look for NFC in official specifications: A general claim that the phone supports payments is less useful than an NFC entry for the exact model.
- Separate NFC from wallet eligibility: The radio feature, payment service, bank, and card must all be supported for the intended use.
