There is no official confirmation that progress from the Archrebel Tactics demo will transfer to the full game. The developer describes the demo as a complete short game, while the planned release is described as having persistent, choice-driven campaign progress. Those statements do not establish that the two versions share save files, use Steam Cloud, or support an import function.
You can play the demo, but treat its progress as self-contained until Ularis Badler or MicroProse publishes a specific save-transfer policy. The full game’s release date is still listed as to be announced.

- The planned full release includes a single-player campaign with “persistent and multiple-choice progress.” That describes the intended campaign design, not the handling of demo saves.
- The developer calls the demo “a complete short-game.” Its first playthrough is expected to take six to eight hours, or longer for players unfamiliar with this type of game.
- The demo mission was designed specifically for the demo and includes late-game mechanics so players can see systems that would otherwise appear later.
The demo is listed for Steam on Windows and Linux, with SteamOS plus Linux requirements also shown in the store materials. SteamDB identifies the demo as Steam App 5348900. None of these platform or product details confirms save migration.

Does the demo save your progress while you play?
The published information does not say whether the demo creates persistent save files, how many save slots it provides, or what happens when you close and reopen it. A six-to-eight-hour playtime description tells you the approximate length of a first run; it is not evidence of a particular save system.
That distinction matters because “the demo saves” can mean several different things:
- Session saves: progress may be available when you return to the same installation.
- Local saves: files may remain on the computer but disappear if the demo is uninstalled or its data is removed.
- Cloud saves: Steam may synchronize those files to your account, subject to the game’s configuration.
- Transferable saves: the full release may be designed to recognize demo data. This is a separate feature from ordinary saving.
Ularis Badler and MicroProse have not published a rule that confirms any of these behaviors for the demo. You should therefore avoid promising yourself that a particular run will be recoverable after reinstalling, changing computers, or switching operating systems.
Can you continue the demo save in the full game?
At present, no. More precisely, carry-over is undocumented, not officially ruled out. The official store description and the developer’s demo announcement do not state that the full game will detect demo saves, import them from a menu, or award equivalent campaign progress.

The planned campaign’s “persistent and multiple-choice progress” also does not imply a shared save format. It means that choices and advancement are intended to persist within the full game’s campaign. A developer could implement that campaign independently from the demo, especially when the demo uses a mission created exclusively for the preview.
Buying the full game, when it releases, should not be treated as a guarantee that your demo run will be preserved. A purchase connects the product to your Steam account; it does not by itself establish a file-import process or convert one game’s saves into another’s.
Why the demo being a “complete short-game” matters
The developer’s description gives the demo its own identity rather than presenting it as the opening slice of the main campaign. The mission is exclusive to the demo, and late-game mechanics are included for demonstration. That structure creates several technically reasonable possibilities:

- The demo may have a self-contained campaign and separate save data.
- The full game may use different campaign maps, flags, progression limits, or starting conditions.
- The demo may be able to save for replay purposes without exposing a conversion path to the full release.
- The full game may recognize a demo completion flag rather than importing every choice and unit state.
These are implementation possibilities, not announcements about what Archrebel Tactics will do. The important point is that a standalone mission makes automatic continuation less obvious than it would be for an explicitly labeled first chapter of the main campaign.

What remains unknown
The current official materials leave five practical questions unanswered:
- Persistence after closing: whether a saved demo run remains available after you exit and restart the game.
- Persistence after uninstalling: whether local files survive removal of the demo.
- Steam Cloud: whether the demo uploads and restores saves through Steam Cloud.
- Full-release detection: whether a future build will look for demo files automatically or offer an import command.
- Scope and compatibility: whether any transfer would work across Windows, Linux, and SteamOS, and whether it would require the same Steam account and platform.
No published statistic or technical specification establishes a transfer rate, a supported save location, or a guaranteed compatibility matrix. Do not interpret the absence of a statement as proof that transfer is impossible; it means the feature has not been documented.
How to play the demo without relying on an unannounced transfer
You can reduce surprises by treating the demo as an independent game until an official policy says otherwise.

- Check the demo’s Steam properties. In your Steam Library, open the demo’s Properties and review the General page for any Steam Cloud setting or warning. A visible Cloud setting would describe synchronization for the demo; it would not, by itself, promise conversion into the full game.
- Do not uninstall immediately after finishing. If you want the best chance of retaining a local save, leave the demo installed and avoid deleting its user data. This is a precaution, not a guarantee that the full release can read those files.
- Keep your expectations separate from your decisions. Choose actions in the demo for the experience you want now, not because a particular branch is expected to become your canonical full-game campaign.
- Watch official channels for a policy. Look for a statement from Ularis Badler or MicroProse that explicitly names demo saves, Steam Cloud, import or detection, supported platforms, and any account requirement.
If you change computers or reinstall Steam, ordinary platform backup practices may help preserve local data, but the developer has not published a supported backup or migration procedure for this demo. Avoid editing save files or copying unknown files between installations unless an official guide explains the format and destination.

How to evaluate a future transfer announcement
A useful announcement should answer more than “yes” or “no.” Check each of these points:

| Failure handling | Whether an import creates a copy, can be retried, and leaves the original demo save untouched if it fails. |
Without these details, “progress carries over” could mean anything from one completion flag to a full recreation of your campaign state. The difference affects how carefully you should preserve a save and whether replaying the demo after release is worthwhile.

Automatic detection
The full game could scan for a compatible demo save when it starts and offer to continue or convert it. If this happens, the announcement should identify the supported file source, account relationship, and platforms. Until that is stated, do not assume that installing both products is sufficient.

The developer could add an Import option that asks you to select or confirm a demo profile. Manual import may allow one save at a time, require the same account, or transfer only selected milestones. A manual workflow would normally be explained in release notes or an in-game notice.

No transfer
The full game could keep the demo entirely separate. You would then start the campaign from its own opening state, while the demo remains a standalone short game. This outcome is consistent with the demo’s exclusive mission, but it has not been announced as the final policy.
What the planned full campaign tells you—and what it does not
Persistent, multiple-choice progress is a promise about the design goal for the initial full release. It suggests that decisions are meant to have continuing effects inside that campaign rather than resetting after every mission. It does not specify whether the demo uses the same campaign database, whether demo choices map to full-game choices, or whether demo completion unlocks anything.
Because the release date is still to be announced, the save architecture and transfer policy may be published later. Store text can also change as development continues. The most reliable answer is therefore time-sensitive: based on the currently published official materials, transfer is unknown.
Bottom line for prospective players
Play the demo if its self-contained mission and extended six-to-eight-hour first run appeal to you. Keep it installed if preserving your local progress matters, and check Steam’s current Cloud setting without treating that setting as an import promise. Do not postpone the demo solely because you expect a transfer, and do not make purchase decisions on the assumption that your choices will carry into the full campaign.
Until Ularis Badler or MicroProse publishes a specific policy, the accurate answer is: the demo’s save behavior and any carry-over to the full game have not been confirmed.
