What the campaign is
A solo route through the Galactic League
The campaign is a single-player story in which you control Shade. The premise is a climb through the Galactic League while facing Kestar, a rival racer. StarWars.com identifies Campaign, Scenario and Arcade as the game’s core modes, so the campaign is a distinct mode rather than a label for a collection of online races.

Progression is built around decisions
Campaign progression is designed around choosing how to develop a racing career. In a StarWars.com interview, Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster described the campaign as drawing inspiration from runs-based games, with consequential choices about the starting vehicle, upgrades and the events selected along the route to becoming League champion. His description is useful for understanding the intended structure: your route and build matter, rather than every player following an identical sequence with a fixed loadout.

That interview describes the design direction, while the post-launch FAQ confirms the practical feature that matters here: the campaign is playable solo and offline. It should not be read as a promise of a particular number of chapters, vehicles or upgrade tiers; those quantities are not established in the available official information.
#1 Best Overall
- COMPETE IN HIGH-STAKES RACES - Slam, shunt, and takedown rivals across varied circuits as you pilot land speeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and pod racers. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.
- SURVIVE A DANGEROUS UNDERGROUND SPORT - Join The Galactic League - an unsanctioned racing circuit born in the lawless Outer Rim. Become Shade, a lone racer chasing revenge and glory.
- BUILD AND CUSTOMIZE YOUR CRAFT - Pilot different classes of repulsorcraft each with distinct physics and playstyles. Build a ride that showcases your style and gives you a competitive edge.
- BATTLE RIVALS IN MULTIPLE GAME MODES - Ride solo through a story-driven campaign of shifting alliances or brave strategic PvP grudge matches where reputation rides with you.
- CLIMB THE RANKS AND EARN REWARDS - Prove yourself through intense rivalries and escalating challenges. Every choice shapes your prospects as you build your status in The Galactic League.
Campaign versus the other modes
- Campaign: The story-driven Shade and Kestar League route.
- Scenarios: Stand-alone challenges that can be played offline.
- Arcade: Events available offline, with connected leaderboard functions when you are online.
- Multiplayer: Networked competition that requires an internet connection.
This separation is important if you want a racing game for travel or a connection-limited setup. You can use the offline modes without treating the game as an entirely offline product.
Do I have to be online to play?
What works without a connection
The official game FAQ says the campaign, Arcade events and Scenarios work offline. Once the game is correctly installed and any platform-specific first-launch authentication has been completed, those are the modes to use when your console or PC has no active connection.
On PlayStation, the product listing specifically notes that gameplay and cinematics can be paused during offline play. That is a platform-listing detail, not a statement that every online feature becomes available when paused.

What still needs internet access
| Feature or task | Connection needed? | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign | No, after setup | Playable offline as a solo story mode. |
| Arcade events | No, for the events themselves | You can race offline; connected leaderboard functions are separate. |
| Scenarios | No | Available without an active connection. |
| Multiplayer | Yes | Network access is required to compete with other players. |
| Connected Arcade leaderboards | Yes | Local results may be possible offline, but uploading or viewing connected rankings needs internet access. |
| Patches and updates | Yes | You need a connection to download game updates. |
| PC first launch | Yes | Steam or Epic Games Store PC players must connect online the first time they launch for authentication. |
What “offline” does not mean
It does not mean that you can install the game, authenticate a new PC copy, download a patch or enter multiplayer with no connection. It also does not turn online leaderboards into local features. The accurate description is offline-capable modes inside a game that also has online requirements, not “the whole game works offline.”
Difficulty options and assists
Adjustable challenge
The PlayStation listing labels the game with “Adjustable Difficulty (Advanced).” It says players can customize the challenge, which is useful if you want to tune the experience instead of accepting one fixed level of competition.
Individual assists
The same listing says you can enable individual assists. That means the game supports changing particular aids rather than forcing you to choose an all-or-nothing preset. The available information does not specify every assist, its exact effect or whether each assist applies in every mode, so those details should be checked in the in-game settings on your platform.

- Marvel’s Wolverine is a new action-packed adventure from Insomniac Games
- Play as Wolverine and Ravage enemies with explosive brutality and unleash razor-sharp adamantium claws to deploy fast, fluid attacks and overcome impossible odds
- An Original, Emotionally Charged Story. Beneath Wolverine’s gruff exterior and violent temperament is a man fighting for a cause greater than himself
- A Global, Adrenaline-Fueled Journey where you slice into enemies across detailed locales such as the frosted Canadian Wilderness, the narrow streets of Tokyo, and the high and low districts of the island nation of Madripoor
No confirmed Easy, Normal or Hard list
Neither the PlayStation information nor the official FAQ names or counts conventional presets such as Easy, Normal and Hard. Do not assume that those labels exist, or that the game has a particular number of difficulty steps. The defensible answer is that challenge is adjustable and assists are configurable; the published material does not establish a named preset menu.

How to prepare for offline play
- Install the game while connected. Use the PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC version and allow the platform to complete installation and any available update.
- Complete required authentication. On PC, launch the game once while online so Steam or the Epic Games Store can complete the stated first-launch authentication.
- Apply patches before travelling or disconnecting. Updates require internet access, so install the current update while you still have a connection.
- Start the game and confirm access. Enter the Campaign, an Arcade event or a Scenario while online, then close the game normally. This gives the platform a chance to finish its initial checks before you rely on offline access.
- Disconnect and choose an offline mode. With no connection, use Campaign, Arcade events or Scenarios. Do not select multiplayer or expect connected leaderboard functions.
- Reconnect when you need online services. Restore internet access for multiplayer, leaderboard synchronization, new patches or any platform prompt that requires account verification.
The FAQ confirms the mode availability, but it does not promise that every platform handles licensing checks identically. Console account policies, PC launcher settings and a later platform security check can affect whether a particular installation starts offline.
Offline troubleshooting
The game will not start on a PC with no connection
Check whether that PC copy has completed its first online launch. The FAQ explicitly requires internet access for first-launch authentication on PC. Reconnect, launch once, let the store client and game finish authentication, then exit normally before trying offline mode again.

A mode is unavailable offline
Confirm that you selected Campaign, an Arcade event or a Scenario. Multiplayer is online-only, and connected Arcade leaderboard functions are not part of offline play. If an update is pending, reconnect and install it before disconnecting again.
You cannot see current leaderboard information
That is expected without an internet connection. Offline Arcade racing and connected ranking services are separate: you can run an event offline, but viewing or submitting connected leaderboard data requires access to the network.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYou expected to pause online gameplay
The PlayStation listing qualifies its pause feature as applying to offline play. Do not use the offline pause wording as evidence that a multiplayer session can be halted in the same way.

Platforms, release status and editions
The official FAQ lists Star Wars: Galactic Racer for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. StarWars.com describes the game as available worldwide on those platforms, while the Steam store lists October 6, 2026 as its release date. Information checked on October 13, 2026 therefore describes a released game, but store availability, regional stock and platform policies can change.
| Platform | Edition information confirmed by official sources | Offline qualification |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Physical Standard and Deluxe editions; Collector’s Edition also confirmed. | Campaign, Arcade events and Scenarios offline; PlayStation listing notes pausing offline gameplay and cinematics. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Physical Standard and Deluxe editions; Collector’s Edition also confirmed. | Campaign, Arcade events and Scenarios offline. |
| PC | Available through Steam and the Epic Games Store; Collector’s Edition confirmed. | Offline modes are supported, but first launch requires online authentication. |
Edition names do not by themselves indicate different campaign, offline or difficulty features. Check the store in your country for the edition actually sold there, along with stock and any platform-specific requirements.
Who is the offline and adjustable-difficulty design for?
- Choose it if you want a solo Star Wars racing story. The Campaign provides a defined Shade-versus-Kestar League premise rather than requiring multiplayer participation.
- Choose it if you need travel-friendly play. Campaign, Arcade events and Scenarios are the modes the FAQ confirms for offline use after installation and authentication.
- Choose it if fixed difficulty settings are a concern. The game advertises adjustable challenge and individual assists, although it does not publish named preset levels.
- Plan for connectivity if online competition matters. Multiplayer, connected Arcade rankings, patches and PC first launch all require an internet connection.
The most accurate buying expectation is therefore mixed: a substantial solo and offline-capable core, plus online services that are unavailable when disconnected. If your priority is a game that never needs internet for installation, authentication or updates, this title does not meet that stricter requirement.
