No. As of 18 October 2026, the official Steam listing documents Poly Fighter as a single-player game. It does not list local multiplayer, couch co-op, online matchmaking, private lobbies, or a versus mode for two human players. Its advertised fights are one-on-one encounters between one human player and game-controlled opponents.
What the official listing says
HeartLoop Games’ Steam description uses the unambiguous sentence: “Poly Fighter is a single-player roguelike fighting game.” The same listing describes “single-player one-on-one matches” and adds: “No ranked ladders. No online stress. Just pure, expressive 1v1 combat.” Those statements describe the current product rather than a separate multiplayer queue that is hidden behind a menu.
That wording matters because “1v1” can mean either two people fighting or one person fighting an opponent controlled by the game. In this case, the surrounding text identifies the format as single-player, so the opponent is part of the game’s solo progression. The published feature set does not document a second local controller, network play, matchmaking, invite system, or spectator mode.

Multiplayer features at a glance
| Feature | Current documented status (18 October 2026) | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Local multiplayer | Not listed or supported in the official feature set | There is no documented couch-versus or same-PC two-player mode. |
| Online multiplayer | Not listed | No documented matchmaking, private lobbies, friend invites, or networked fights. |
| Ranked play | Explicitly absent from the store description | The listing says, “No ranked ladders.” |
| Co-op | Not listed | No documented cooperative campaign, shared run, or team mode. |
| Versus mode | Not listed as a human-versus-human option | The documented one-on-one format is solo play against game opponents. |
| Cross-play | Not stated | There is no published multiplayer service or cross-platform policy to apply. |
“Not listed” is more precise than claiming that multiplayer can never be added. It means the released feature information does not establish that capability, and buyers should not purchase the game expecting it to work today.

Can two people play on the same PC?
There is no documented local multiplayer or couch co-op in the current release. The Steam page identifies the game as single-player and does not advertise a second-player input option. Connecting two controllers, using keyboard-and-controller combinations, or launching a second profile therefore should not be treated as an officially supported setup.
Many fighting games expose a “versus” button, but the published description for Poly Fighter does not promise one. Its “1v1” wording refers to the structure of an individual fight, not to a local human-versus-human match. If local play is the deciding requirement, wait for an explicit developer announcement and a store-feature change rather than relying on assumptions based on the genre.

Can you play online with friends?
The current listing does not document online play. In particular, it says “No ranked ladders. No online stress,” which signals that competitive network features are outside the advertised launch scope. There is no stated matchmaking service, direct-invite flow, private room, rollback netcode, or friend-only lobby.
That also means there is no supported way, according to the published information, to challenge a friend remotely in a standard versus match. Remote-play tools or desktop-streaming workarounds may let another person watch or control the same computer, but those are not the game’s own online multiplayer and can introduce input, latency, account, and ownership limitations. They should not be confused with a built-in online mode.

What the game is designed to do instead
Solo fights inside a roguelike run
The documented loop is a roguelike progression built around repeated one-on-one fights. You play as the human-controlled fighter, face game opponents, and make decisions across a run rather than entering a persistent competitive ladder. The listing says moves are learned and upgraded during runs, so progression is tied to experimentation and build development.
Moves, upgrades, and expressive combat
Because techniques are learned and improved during a run, the intended challenge is adapting your fighter’s options to the opponents and situations generated by the game. “Expressive” combat in the store copy describes player decision-making and execution against that content; it is not a promise of human-versus-human play.

No ladder-driven structure
The absence of ranked ladders is part of the design message. The game is positioned as a self-contained solo experience without rating points, seasonal standings, or the pressure of online competition. Players looking specifically for matchmaking, an Elo-style rating, or a persistent competitive bracket will not find those features documented for this release.
Platform, release date, and Early Access status
Poly Fighter is distributed through Steam for Windows 10 64-bit PCs. The listed release date is 13 October 2026, and the game is in Early Access. Those details explain why the multiplayer answer can change, but they do not create a multiplayer feature that is absent from the current build.

Early Access is a live-development label, not a guarantee of a particular roadmap item. The developer says that features may evolve and that work before version 1.0 includes additional characters, techniques, bosses, stages, and polish. None of those published additions establishes local or online multiplayer.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Could multiplayer be added later?
Possibly, but it is unconfirmed. HeartLoop Games says Early Access lets the team involve players in final-stage work, especially “move tuning, balance, difficulty, and unexpected combinations.” That statement identifies combat-balance feedback as a priority; it does not announce networking, a second-player mode, or a multiplayer test.
The developer’s stated goal is to reach version 1.0 before summer 2027, while noting that the timing may evolve with development and player feedback. A target date is not a commitment to multiplayer. If online or local play becomes a goal, the reliable evidence would be a dated announcement, updated Steam feature text, patch notes, or an in-game mode that is clearly labeled for two human players.

- Open the current Steam store page. Check the feature tags and description for a newly listed local, online, co-op, or versus capability. Use the page as it appears on the date you make your decision.
- Read the latest developer announcements and patch notes. Look for explicit terms such as “local multiplayer,” “online multiplayer,” “private lobby,” or “matchmaking.” A general statement that the game is expanding is not enough.
- Inspect the installed build’s main menu. A supported mode should have a clear entry, player-count information, and an explanation of how a second player joins. Do not infer support from an unused controller prompt or a community workaround.
- Confirm the platform requirement. The currently documented release is Windows 10 64-bit on Steam. A future console or cloud version could have different input and networking options, but no such variation is established here.
- Check the date on every claim. Early Access pages and review counts change. A guide or video made before an update may describe a mode that is no longer present, or suggest one that was only planned.
What the current reviews do—and do not—tell you
Steam currently shows 95% positive from 111 user reviews, a storefront metric recorded in 2026 that can change as additional reviews arrive. That percentage may indicate that many current players are satisfied with the game they bought, but it does not demonstrate the existence of multiplayer. Reviews should be read for comments about the solo combat loop, controls, difficulty, and Early Access state rather than treated as a substitute for an official feature list.
