Phone Link is supported in Windows 11, but that does not guarantee every feature will work reliably on every phone or network. For Android, Microsoft lists Android 10 or later as a requirement. If your devices will not connect or content will not sync, start with app updates, the same Microsoft account, and a suitable shared Wi-Fi network before trying a reset.
What Phone Link supports in Windows 11
Microsoft lists Windows 11 as supported for Phone Link. Its requirements also list Android 10 or later for Android phones, and recommend using the latest Windows version for the best experience. See Microsoft’s Phone Link requirements.
Compatibility is not the same as a guarantee that every feature will work on every device. Microsoft notes that some Android apps may not work and that the Android apps feature does not support multiple Android profiles or work or school accounts. Some notification and taskbar launch behavior may also differ from what users expect. Microsoft’s Android apps guidance describes these limits.

If an Android phone will not connect or sync with a Windows 11 PC, work through these checks in order. They test common causes while avoiding the disruption of clearing an existing pairing.

- Update both apps. Install available updates for Phone Link on the PC and Link to Windows on the phone, then close and reopen both apps. Microsoft recommends checking for updates when troubleshooting. Microsoft’s update instructions.
- Confirm the account and device state. Make sure both devices are turned on and signed in to the same Microsoft account.
- Check the network. Connect both devices to the same trusted Wi-Fi network for the most reliable connection. A VPN, firewall, public or work network restriction, or router wireless/AP isolation can block communication. If the PC or network is managed by an employer or school, ask its administrator before changing managed settings.
- Check power saving. Temporarily turn off battery saver on both devices while diagnosing. If the problem continues, check Android battery optimization for Link to Windows and allow it to run without optimization.

When to unlink and pair again
If updates, account, network, and power checks do not restore the connection, unlink the phone and PC and pair them again using Microsoft’s instructions. Treat this as a later step: it removes the existing pairing, so you will need to complete setup again. Follow Microsoft’s unlink and pairing guidance.

When a reset makes sense
For persistent connection problems after basic checks or relinking, Microsoft also provides app reset instructions. Resetting disrupts the current setup and requires you to configure the connection again, so use the official steps rather than resetting as an initial diagnostic. Microsoft’s reset instructions.
What to include when asking for help
“Phone Link is broken” is not specific enough to identify the cause. For a more focused diagnosis, note:

- Your phone model and Android version.
- Your Windows 11 version and whether Phone Link and Link to Windows are updated.
- The feature that fails, such as connecting or syncing content, and any error message shown.
- Whether both devices use the same Microsoft account and trusted Wi-Fi network, and whether a VPN or managed work or school network is involved.
Those details matter because a problem limited to one feature or network can have a different cause from a pairing failure. Microsoft’s support guidance offers troubleshooting steps, but does not provide a universal reliability rate; a working setup for one device is not proof that all Phone Link features will work for everyone.
