Some MEATER thermometers work over Wi-Fi, but not all of them do. MEATER Block has Wi-Fi built into its charger; its probes still connect to that charger over Bluetooth. Other models use Bluetooth directly, while MEATER Link can use a second phone or tablet to bridge a Bluetooth thermometer to Wi-Fi.
How MEATER’s connections work
Think of a MEATER setup as having two possible wireless links: the probe-to-device link and the device-to-network link. Wi-Fi can extend monitoring beyond Bluetooth range, but it does not necessarily replace Bluetooth between the probe and the charger or phone.
- Bluetooth: carries readings from a probe to a nearby phone, tablet, or MEATER Block charger.
- Wi-Fi and MEATER Cloud: can relay readings beyond that local Bluetooth connection, depending on the model and setup.
That distinction matters most with MEATER Block: the charger connects to the home network, but the probes must remain within Bluetooth reach of the charger.
Which MEATER models use Wi-Fi?
| Model or setup | How the connection works | What that means for reach |
|---|---|---|
| Original MEATER | The probe connects directly to a phone or tablet over Bluetooth. | Monitoring depends on the Bluetooth link between probe and device. |
| MEATER Plus and MEATER SE | Bluetooth models with range extension; MEATER does not describe Wi-Fi built into their chargers. | They extend Bluetooth range, rather than adding a Wi-Fi charger connection. |
| MEATER Block | Probe-to-charger uses Bluetooth; the charger has Wi-Fi and MEATER Cloud capability. | The charger can relay monitoring over the network, but the probe must still reach the charger. |
| MEATER Pro Duo and Pro XL | MEATER lists network-range or Cloud access when those services are configured. | Check the current setup instructions for the specific model and service before relying on remote access. |
| MEATER Link with a Bluetooth model | A second Android or iOS device bridges the probe’s Bluetooth connection to Wi-Fi. | The bridge device must stay within Bluetooth range of the probe; the monitoring device can connect over the network. |
MEATER’s product guidance lists Bluetooth range up to 165 ft/50 m for MEATER Plus and SE, and the Block support guide gives up to 33 ft/10 m from probe to dock. These are vendor-stated specifications, not guaranteed distances in a particular kitchen or cooker. Actual range can be reduced by obstacles and interference. See MEATER’s range guidance and its Block range guidance.

Does MEATER Block need Wi-Fi?
To use the Block’s Wi-Fi and Cloud features, connect its charger to a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. MEATER’s pairing instructions also require the app and a MEATER Cloud account. The app may offer a firmware update during setup. Follow MEATER’s Block pairing guide for the current sequence.
- Connect your phone to a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Open the MEATER app, add or pair the Block, and select the network when prompted.
- Enter the network password and complete the app’s setup prompts, including any offered firmware update.
If you only need to watch the cook nearby, the essential probe-to-charger connection is still Bluetooth. Wi-Fi is what enables the charger to relay monitoring over the network.

Can a Bluetooth MEATER work over Wi-Fi?
MEATER Link can bridge a Bluetooth model through a second mobile device. Both devices need the MEATER app and must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network; keep the bridge phone or tablet close enough to maintain Bluetooth contact with the probe. MEATER says the app needs Wi-Fi permission to extend range this way.

Can you monitor a cook away from home?
Remote monitoring depends on the model and whether its network or Cloud service is configured and reachable. Block can relay readings through its Wi-Fi-connected charger. A Bluetooth model can use MEATER Link if a second device stays near the probe and bridges it to the network. MEATER lists Pro Duo and Pro XL as supporting network-range or Cloud access when configured. For any model, confirm its current instructions and app requirements before counting on access away from home.
What to check when the connection drops
First identify which link has failed. With Block, a probe may have lost Bluetooth contact with the charger, or the charger may have lost its Wi-Fi or app connection. With MEATER Link, check both the probe-to-bridge Bluetooth link and the bridge’s Wi-Fi connection.

- Easy to Use: Fast charging and dishwasher safe to keep you cooking when you want, however you want.
- Move the Block closer to the cooker: MEATER advises placing it as close as safely possible, since the probe-to-charger Bluetooth leg remains a limit.
- Consider the cooker and obstacles: thick metal walls or lids, some combi-ovens, microwave shielding, foil, pots, walls, and closed doors can reduce range.
- Check for wireless interference: other wireless devices can affect reliability.
- For Block Wi-Fi issues: verify that the charger is using the intended 2.4 GHz network and that the network is stable.
- For MEATER Link: ensure both mobile devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, the bridge remains in Bluetooth range, and Wi-Fi permission is enabled for the app.
MEATER publishes appliance-specific probe-range estimates, but those are guidance rather than guaranteed real-world distances. The physical layout and cooker can change what works in practice.
Which setup fits your needs?
- Choose a model with Wi-Fi in its charger if you want a built-in network relay and are comfortable with the Block’s 2.4 GHz setup and account requirements.
- Consider MEATER Link if you already have a Bluetooth model and can leave a second phone or tablet near the probe as a bridge.
- Bluetooth alone may be enough if you plan to monitor from nearby and do not need network-based access.
- Check the cooker-to-charger or cooker-to-bridge layout before relying on remote monitoring: Wi-Fi cannot fix a weak Bluetooth connection from the probe.
These capabilities and setup details are described in MEATER Support materials accessed October 7, 2026. They are vendor documentation, not independent range testing.
